Terrance Foehammer |

Aye, well done.
Terrance continue to trapse along about 5' behind the leader, while looking about.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19+2 vs stonework

DM Twilight |

The door cracks and breaks down under Ioann's brute force, opening in to show a small office. Terrance is able to see that among the burned debris that there are a few pieces of paper that managed to somehow survive the fire. The furniture that was once in here, however, is ruined.

Terrance Foehammer |

Terrance takes a couple of minutes to peruse the papers that survive.

DM Twilight |

The papers Terrance found appear to be from a schedule of sorts, tracking the movements of prisoners in and out of the prison as well as the prisoners day to day activities.
Ioann breaks down the next door with ease and finds a room nearly identical to the last.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

"And any information that leads to that will be useful, or do you plan on kicking the next spectre you see?" Ingrid says in irritation.

Orin Gabor |

Orin looks into both rooms, noting their similarities. "These must be offices for the watchmen who used to patrol here."
Approaching the third door he tests it to see if it will open. If not, he will attempt to smash it down much like Ioann has been doing. Str Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Ioann turns his back to Ingrid and emits an annoyed grunt. Can't you do anything but bother me, self righteous paladin... bah! thinks the man as he makes his way to the opening on the left that seems to lead outside. He takes a look at it, trying to see whether he could break it down or whether it is also magically sealed.

DM Twilight |

Actually the DC is 13, so he made it! RAWR MANLY STRENGTH!
The door cracks and breaks loose under Orin's punishment, revealing a third office.
Ioann finds that it's an area where the stone has caved in, and indeed does lead outside not too far off from the main entrance.
It actually offers no explanation for the apparent opening on the map, so I'm winging it :P

Terrance Foehammer |

Ah an exit, and now we can start exploring this place in earnest.

Ravel Sigrún |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Exploring in Ernest you say?
Ravel smiles, "Well gentlemen, remind me to call for you if I am ever beset by attacking doors. Were the papers of any import?"

DM Twilight |

Though the individual sheets hold little importance, it occurs to you that if you were to all spend some time sifting through these offices that you could possibly gather up enough salvageable papers to learn more about the inner workings of Harrowstone prior to the fire.

Orin Gabor |

Looking towards Terrance, Orin gives the Dwarf a small grin. "Oh, and what was it we were doing? Remodeling?" Making a small turn to Ravel, Orin shrugs. "I'm not exactly what one would call 'book smart', but you may help yourself in investigating the offices more."

Terrance Foehammer |

While Ioann is doing his door destruction, Terrance continues to gather the papers, to see if he can figure out what and whom where in what area.
The papers so far are showing little bits of the life and workings of Harrowstone.
Terrance then walks into the next office and quickly peruses the papers.

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

I feel confident that by the end of the night, we will have good evidence concerning my Hypothesis.
That hypothesis being, can one make enough noise to wake the dead?
Ioanna is providing consistent stimulate, so our data will have fewer variables.
But, perhaps, I wonder. Are we waking the dead? The undead? If they were undead, and we disturbed them, does that qualify as waking the dead?
Is it the noise or our pretense that stirs things?

Terrance Foehammer |

Laughing Ake, I have no answers for you. But I know when they show, we should put them to permanent rest.

DM Twilight |

With 2d4 hours of work, the surviving
paperwork in these offices can be organized into a central
repository that can be used to research Harrowstone or the
five prisoners (although, obviously, no information from
after the fire can be found here). If used for research, the
collected papers grant a +4 bonus on Knowledge checks.
See Part Two for rules on research.
If interested2d4 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6
It does not offer any new information other than what we covered earlier, but if you choose to spend the time needed to set things up, I'll gladly flex my creative muscles to create some new things for you.Ioann finds yet another office behind the fourth door on this wall. The whole in the opposite wall seems stable enough, at least for the time being.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

Ingrid eneters the room to which Ioan had demolished the door, scanning it fr anything out of the ordinary.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Terrance Foehammer |

Terrance will gather the papers for further perusal back at the manor
Ake so long as the fire doesn't kill off further info. Yawning deeply I think we have all that we can get from here. shall we move on.

DM Twilight |

Each of the offices are rather mundane, there doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary or any sort of supernatural activity in this particular area.
Terrance, I'm assuming you mean that you're taking the papers you've already found, otherwise, you will have to spend significant time sorting through the debris to find everything. Also, keep in mind that these papers are old and fire damaged, you should consider protecting them in some way if you're going to be carrying them around with you.

Ioann Vilescu |

After a quick look at the last office he opened up, Ioann walks to the two doors at the end of the corridor.
"Left or right?" he asks to no one in particular.
Left/Right: 1d2 ⇒ 1
After a short moment, he makes his way to the one on the left. As he prepares to take down one more door, he speaks to Ake without turning toward her.
"If the ***** shrieking skulls at the entrance did not announce our arrival, then breaking down a few doors won't either." the man hits the door with his shoulder "When it comes to your hypothesis, as the professor would say, without knowing the original state of our measure, can we really predict its future state based on intervening EVENTS?" he finishes, hitting the door a second (and ultimate?) time with his shoulder.
Str for door: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
This time, his discourse does betray some kind of academic background...

Terrance Foehammer |

Orin, appreciated, I also am not the smartest, but I think some of this may come in handy.

DM Twilight |

The door gives way to Ioann's abuse much the same as the last doors did. This spacious room smells of mildew and rot. A long desk and
chair sit to the south, while to the northwest a narrow alcove
contains a closed safe. Thick layers of dust cover everything
in sight.
Map
With the exception of Ioann, no one's position on the map is considered to be strategically accurate. I just moved them around to indicate that you are all somewhat spread out in this room and moving about.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

Ingrid walks up the hallway to the door Ioan just opened, studying everything there.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 4

Orin Gabor |

"No problem, Terrance. Us rock-heads need to stick together, yes?" He gives the Dwarf a gentle pat on the shoulder before he assists some in loading up more documents.
Once done, he steps into the hall and walks down it towards Ingrid and Ioann, pulling his bow out once more. "Check that room next?" He points to the door at AE 11.

DM Twilight |

As Ingrid and Orin join Ioann, Ravel's dancing lights float along lighting the way for the group.
Ravel notices nothing other than the stillness that permeates this area. Nothing seems to threaten this area, for now. That being said, there is nothing otherwise special about this particular area... perhaps that's why the spirits don't seem too interested.
Orin, the door at AE11 is the door that Ioann just broke open. They are now standing in the doorway.

Terrance Foehammer |

Terrance continues to do a quick gather of the papers from all the rooms that are open, and stow them semi nicely into his pack.

Terrance Foehammer |

Stifling a yawn I think pulling out for right now, might be for the best, we can always come back later today.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

"At this point that might not be the worst idea." Ingrid says studying the surrounding area.

Terrance Foehammer |

I think it just got missed in the door vandalism. :)
Terrance in wandering around, gathering papers from around the area, looks up in shock.
Hey everyone I found something

Ioann Vilescu |

"The safe? No way the necromancer who raised professor Lorrimor is hiding in there."
Says Ioann as he moves to the door leading to the entrance hall. Standing in the door frame, he looks around, waiting for the other to be done with the investigation and tapping his foot.
I remembered, but also remembered that Ioann's goal is not to investigate the place, but the people... also, I am all for returning to the Lorrimor estate. Although, game wise, haven't our characters only been in there a few minutes?

Terrance Foehammer |

He may not be hiding in there, but the information on who it might be, could be in there. Terrance counters
We may have only been in there a few minutes, but some of our characters have been up for close to 24 hours.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

"It's worth a try, anything that may help us understand what is actually going on around here will be useful, we didn't just come her to find someone to beat up." Ingrid says looking at the safe. "Anyone good with locks?"

Terrance Foehammer |

Opening, Nay, I have no means of opening beyond brute force. But if someone were to open it, I doubt that it would be amiss.
With that, Terrance digs a piton out of his gear and tries to set it in the crack of the door, and then hit it with his warhammer.

Terrance Foehammer |

strength: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
With a grunt, the piton that Terrance was using shrieks down the front of the safe, and across the floor.
Well, I did not expect that. As he gets up and goes to collect the piton again.
