Thanks guys, it's no biggie it was just a regular eye exam and they needed to look at my retinas. Fun times. I've been putting it off for awhile but finally got around to making myself go get it done. Also, it was just allergies the other day and I don't appear to be sick so yay on that. I blame Kansas weather (DM hates Oz jokes, so yeah do so at your character's peril).
@Ioann thanks! I love hearing that I'm doing a good job. I'm still relatively new to being a DM so I'm often doubtful.

DM Twilight wrote:Footprints disturb the dust, you're able to see them trailing down the stairs clearly enough to see where the person who left them went. It's the wording. Trailing down the stairs.
That's why asking for clarification is a good thing. It doesn't say one way or the other if you see them coming back up because it wasn't important to the point of the post and you didn't ask! The point of the post was to identify a trail that you could follow to the hidden cache.
Meanwhile, I love how everyone is jumping at ghosts that aren't there. Makes me wonder how they're going to handle it when the ghosts do come out to play, lmfao.

DM Twilight |

So, I have a proposition for you guys. I'm currently DMing an Eberron AP based on Pathfinder rules. It's going spectacularly crappy as people keep leaving, or taking forever to post. I'm thinking about doing a reboot of it and would want to pull in 3-4 new players. The people who play Ravel and Ingrid already play in this campaign. The rest of you have shown yourselves to be quality players so I wanted to see if any of you would be interested.

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

Ebberron? It's been ages since I have even read anything about that setting!
My other favorite player is also my wife and she is violently, horribly, and steadfastly against that style of setting.
Sign me up!
I will admit, I am woefully out of date on the setting however.

Terrance Foehammer |

been a long time since I heard of that setting.
Yes, I would be willing, but the squeaking sound that you are hearing, is the rust getting knocked off the gears. :)
Now to try and figure out a class, and race.

DM Twilight |

Hold off on character creation for a bit, I've messaged a third current player who has been slacking in his posts to see what his intentions are. I'm going to now invite Ingrid and Ravel to discuss with you what they think the party most needs.
In the meantime, I have a few ideas that I'd like for you guys to think about (as well as Ravel and Ingrid). My original thought, to make life as a DM a bit easier and to keep those who have already gone through the first part from having to repeat it, was to simply tell the new players a briefing on what has happened to date in the game and then having them step in as if they had simply always been there, and the characters who left never were there. This would allow me to justify giving you all the same experience points and avoid awkward moments in PC/PC and NPC/PC relationships.
The second option would to have the existing characters find the new characters in the current dungeon.
The third would be to just start the AP over, we haven't really gone very far into it anyway so the only thing lost is out of game time.
Should we go with the first option, there is a character who was unable to continue play due to lack of regular net access. I really liked this character, and more so, the relationship that he had with another character (still playing) and so decided to keep him as a DMNPC character. It has been suggested that I might see if one of you would like to take him over (assuming you and I feel that you can be true to that character concept, otherwise what's the point?).

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

As GM, we follow your lead.
As a "newer" GM, you should pick the option that is most palatable for you and ,in my opinion, causes the least amount of work for you.
Option one is perfectly fine, we have always been there...we just have really high stealth scores.
If you could link or tell us the character we could look at it.

DM Twilight |

Terrance Foehammer |

Honestly I don't feel comfortable picking up someone else's character, but option 1 works, however, option 2 is sometimes the most fun. :)

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

When we have some discussion with the others, I think I will have a clearer picture of the party needs.
I'm, not sold on attempting another character, but neither am I against it.
For some, me included, finding the "person" in the character thru play is a big part of the fun.
Again, neither for or against at the moment.
Now, a nap. I have to pick my daughter up at midnight from a school drama thing.
After waking up at 4 to drop her off..
And work...
Hooray Coffee!!!

Terrance Foehammer |

hmmm COFFEE. . .
almost what the vegetarian zombie says.
"Graiiinnnnsss"
but more than willing to wait and see what is needed. :)

Terrance Foehammer |

I am actually flexible enough to play a wide assortment of characters. :)
I have just had a lot of practice with cleric's, due to playing one all the way from the red box, and no one in my FTF games ever truly understanding just how important a cleric is. :)

DM Twilight |

OK, well why don't the two of you spend some time thinking about what type of character you'd like to make. Spend some time refamiliarizing yourself with Eberron. You'll be starting in Sharn, though you don't necessarily need to be from Sharn. The module we're starting with is called Fallen Angel. I believe it's a stand alone module and not a path. Assuming we ever make it to the end of that one, I'll transition into an AP with more books if the game is still going well.
Orin, Ioann, Gellius are any of you interested?

Terrance Foehammer |

hmm, now to find my ebberon books. .. . I know they are around here somewhere. . . opens the door to the basement. . oohh cobweb. . . oohh ghost. .. .

Ioann Vilescu |

Know what, I just remembered this 3.5 character waiting to be played in an Eberron game for some time. Really cool background (in my opinion) and not stated for any campaign in particular.
Questions: shouldn't we move this discussion to another thread to avoid burdening this one with unrelated posts?

Heh. Ok. For those interested I'm Akasha in the other game Hexcrafter Magus, Dragonmarked

Ioann Vilescu |

Okay, I have a general question then. After this module, which one were you planning to use? If I remember well, there were not that many 3.5 AP's for Eberron. Also, I have played the Forgotten Forge "AP" and not sure that I would replay it (mostly because I am bad at keeping player knowledge apart from character knowledge).
EDIT: Also, I am guessing that you want the pace of the game to be similar to this one. If so, that would be great for me.

DM Twilight |

I haven't looked at the AP's very closely yet. I've been having so much trouble keeping that game going that I haven't put forth the effort to figure that one out yet. That being said, if you don't want to play the Forgotten Forge, then we won't play the Forgotten Forge ;)
Yes, I would really like for the pace to be similar to this one as much as possible. You are welcome to read through the other discussion, I'd just rather you waited to post anything there until I've individually messaged the two other players who won't be staying.
Do you have any thoughts on whether to do a history rewrite, find the new characters in the dungeon, or start from the beginning?

Ioann Vilescu |

I prefer the most "natural" way of meeting in the dungeon... at the same time, if you do not need the new characters to all immediately show up, I would be willing to wait to make an entrance at an appropriate moment.
Options of restarting sound pretty bad for Ingrid and Ravel, and the other option would be too weird for me.

Ravel Sigrún |

Without using the Forgotten Forge arc, there are more than thirteen Eberron specific adventures of varying levels for Twi to utilize, and she has my Eberronipedia of knowledge to draw from for options to use as well. I am fine with any option, really. I like the ground work I've laid for Silian's character, but if a reboot is the best option I'm willing to do that as well.

Terrance Foehammer |

it will take me a day or two to refamiliarize myself with the setting. :)
I hope that it can wait that long.

Ingrid Van der Geist |

It's been pretty much waiting months a couple of days are no biggie to get quality players.

Ake of the Stolen Soul |

The idea of playing a martial character is the most appealing role for me, assuming Terrance is playing a divine caster.
Assuming your standard stats, lets see what I have to work with here.
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 5) = 21 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3) = 12 11 dump
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 3) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 3) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 3) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 5) = 18 16
So 17, 16, 15, 15, 13, 12
Not to shabby, not to shabby at all...

Terrance Foehammer |

would you be so kind as to link to the thread ?

DM Twilight |

Yes, you are free to post character concepts and discuss whatever else needed for the game there. Silian d'Thuranni and Akasha will be staying, that's it, everyone else elected to leave or I asked to leave. Here is the discussion thread, it's the same as Ravel linked to above.

So can I post on that thread as Terrance until I figure a concept ?

DM Twilight |

As I mentioned a bit ago in the game thread, please refrain from posting your actions in battle until those who come before you have posted. I try to give players at least 24 hours to post their actions since not everyone can be online at the same time. After that 24 hour period, if that person's action is imperative, I will take the action for them. If it is not, then they will be skipped. When they return, assuming the round isn't over with, they can either choose to act at the end of that round and change their place in the initiative line up, or simply skip that turn.
I understand that this might make things a bit more difficult and might make the game go slightly slower, but I feel it's necessary to avoid conflicting actions and metagaming in battle.

Perfectly reasonable. I just got used to a couple of games where it was block, and posting several possible actions for my initiative. :)

I understand we are all on different schedules, but I don't see anything wrong with your timeframe for posting. We've all been pretty good about letting each other know if we're going to be absent for any extended period of time. So far I'm really enjoying the dynamic of the group and I'm looking forward to seeing this Adventure Path through to the end with you all!
