One question though, do you have a short run in mind for now, ie playing through one adventure and seeing how it goes with the PbP format or do you have a hefty campaign with lots of metaplot in mind?
Missed this one. The answer is a little bit of both. I have an idea, but I'd like to see how we do with the first one, and if we are enjoying it.

![]() |

Aww, I missed it! I've wanted to get in one or the other of the new FFG systems for a long time. If you wanted, Old Guy GM, the system is designed in such a way that you could technically run both Age of Rebellion and Edge of the Empire characters at the same time (though the storytelling hoops would probably be a little daunting) - I didn't read through the thread to see if all of your players were interested in Edge or if it was more mixed.

Obligation: Criminal (+10)
Motivation: Freedom
For as long as she could remember, Rae’dalla was focused merely on the idea of freedom. As a Twi’lek, it was generally understood that she would be sold into slavery by the time she reached adolescence. She spent most of her time prior preparing for that moment, knowing she would only have one chance at escape. She learned about computer systems, studied star charts, and did everything she could to prepare.
When the moment came, Rae was on board on a slaver ship with a dozen other Twi’leks, being taken towards the Core systems to be sold to the highest bidders. Rae managed to escape her bonds, and proceeded to attempt a full takeover of the ship. After shooting the captain in the chest, she assumed command, and prepared to turn around to bring the slaves home.
But they did not want to go.
While Rae had been preparing for the moment she was to be sold, so too had they. They had spent their lives preparing to be slaves - training themselves physically, learning the arts of dancing and seduction. It was all that they knew, and returning them to the harsh environment of Ryloth could not guarantee their safety. They knew, too, that it would only be a matter of time before they were caught again. Rae’dalla tried to explain the value of freedom to them, but her claims fell on deaf ears, as they could not imagine a life of dreadful anticipation.
Standing over the dead captain, Rae realised that it had all been for nothing, and resolved to never harm someone again. Rae had little idea of what the Empire was - it meant nothing to her that the life she had taken was that of an Imperial officer, simply that she had killed. The Empire reversed the order of those importances, and shortly after reaching the Core, Rae was put on a criminal watch list for murder, treason, theft, and any other charge they could drum up.
She had little choice but to jump ship, leaving the other slaves to their fate. She hitched out to the Rim and has been exploring ever since, grateful every day that she has her freedom, and regretful every day that it cost a life for her to get it.

To follow in Yorick's stead and keep the thread alive, I've settled on a Selonian bounty hunter. Ostracized from her homeworld as she has been designated an aberration, she has joined with the crew to lay low on the fringes of space, and avoid the empire county hunters looking for her.
Can't afford it during char creation, but planning to be force sensitive hence her culture exiling her and informing the empire to try and curry favor.
Still working through the crunch!
Enjoying what I'm reading too, it really is a different take on rules and gameplay, more narrative focused, may be ideal for pbp!

Be careful of the R4 unit concept, and its mobility and combat limitations. Not saying don't do it, just be aware of it.
Yeah I'm rethinking that. The Droid chapter notes pc style Droids reskinning themselves and weird stuff I'm kicking around being an old sepratist shock troop but being a tech did hiding inside that chassis basically ill have more later tonight, I'm on the road right now.

Man when I was looking at playing a Droid I couldn't even get that far. Where in the book does it go into Droid Customisation?

@GM: Any notes on my character while we wait for the others?
Looks good, I like the background! I think the layout you used will be our standard, if it transfers well to the character page. If you guys find a link with a picture of your character, I will build them into the campaign tab. I wish we could insert something other than the Paizo avatar choices.

Sorry folks, rough traveling weekend with the family, my access was spotty.
@Yorick: The customization thing is more of a throw away paragraph a the end of the droid description. The impression I have gotten from the developers and commentary elsewhere is that since the system is focused on narrative there aren't necessarily hard rules for some of this stuff but they wanted to be clear you could have, for instance, a bipedal astromech droid even though most of them would be R series droids in regular instances.
I should have my stuff up in the next 24 ;)

Buried deep in the heaps of Lotho Minor the droid known as XJ7-511 was "born" from the remnants of an ancient assassin droid heralding from the era of the Old Republic. Traded about by tinkers and collectors the droid's various owners attempted to complete various repairs on the machine. Constant fiddling with newer technologies that seemed at first glance to be incompatible with many of the old droid's functioning systems led to upgrades, retrofits and overhauls that led to, in XJ7-511's own words, "an awakening".
Upon becoming self aware XJ7-511 waited for many cycles absorbing information from his surroundings and patterned this information into a sense of identity. He took a numerical string that he found pleasant. He took on a gender. He eventually then attempted to assert his awareness. He was then ion blasted and placed in a restraining bolt.
Many ownership changes later found XJ7-511 on a slave ship dealing in twi'lek slaves. "5" had learned to keep his mouth shut as to not undergo
memory wiping as it was an unpleasant experience and led to him forgetting many of his accumulated pieces of knowledge. The personality endured but he was wary of relying on chancing being wiped again. When the slave Rae extolled the virtues of freedom the droid was the only being present who took her up on the offer.
Years of being passed about the rim has made "5" very comfortable around a variety of computers, paired with a lack of scruples tied to any social cues about data and property, the droid realizes slicing is "bad" but doesn't tend to care. "5" is a firm believer in droid rights, at times choosing poor times to mention it but he is fiercely loyal (in his way) to the former slave Rae as they share a common bond based in past bondage.
XJ7-511 can tend to the acerbic and the sullen and has taken to dressing in clothes as an affectation of his freedom. In particular he has taken to extolling the virtues of pockets.

Yeah that was all I had seen. I thought it was pretty BS. I'm definitely liking the look and sound of the system from everything I've read about it, but it seems like they really phoned in Droids. Maybe there will be a supplement to go further in depth with them.
*Background snippet*
Very cool! Really like how you brought them together, excited to play these two off each other. :)
@GM: I'll get my crunch into my alias tomorrow morning. I need to see about spending more of my cash.
Also, it is damn near impossible to find images of Twi'lek's that aren't either a) Jedi or b) in varying states of undress. It took ages and a bit of photoshop, but I actually found one that is pretty close to what I had in mind, though likely with cargo pants instead.

Cargo pants have pockets too. ;)

@Bullzeye: I like it!
@Everyone: follow the 'GGY' method for posting skills. Zen and Yoricks have it. We will figure out what is the best info to put in your summary later - that's for my quick reference.
Waiting on Spaz and Digger. I have '5' and Rae's pics saved, cant share for some reason, will try from work tomorrow.
For what its worth, this will be pretty map-lite. Will go old school and rely on the narrative. This system allows for some adjustments based on rolls anyway.
I am on EST, and most of my posting is done during the day. I usually get more than one a day. Weekends are typically one 'day' for me. I like to pace it fast, i.e. I try not to wait too long for someone to post before moving. If it gets too fast - meaning you never get to say what you want - let me know.

Ok background!
Despite her absolute dedication to her den and the Selonian race, Valkyr has always been held apart from her peers. Growing up she was always given the work that would take her away from the den, minimising her contact with others. She did not understand why she was ostracised so, she did not feel she was the aberration that she was named. When the time came, she was thrust in to the role of 'Drava' or wanderer by her den queen. Accepting of her lot and determined to prove herself, she took to the role well and learned much, familiarising herself with alien culture and acting as go between for her people.
Finally the reason for her den mother's caution became apparent, the potential sensed when Valkyr was born came to light. One of the empire's jedi hunters detected the latent force sensitivity in Valkyr and sought to end her life. Refuting the accusation and defending herself, she killed the imperial officer. To maintain good relations with the empire, her race gave her up the the Empire, exiling and betraying her in one fell swoop.
She ran to one of her contacts, calling in every favor she had and ending up owing many more but managing to acquire enough gear to make a living and get passage on a vessel headed to the outer rim.
Valkyr is quiet most of the time, though she is not one to waste words she never lies, which takes some getting used to. In all things she seeks perfection, especially in herself and her skills.
Most times she can be found practising her combat skills in the hold when she is not needed for anything, or else studying one of the digital mountain of books she keeps on her datapad.

I guess I'm asking if Spaz is planning on being our pilot or should I do it.
Spaz hasn't said much so I don't want to speak for him, but if you aren't interested in doing piloting, I wouldn't worry about it. I've got enough skills in Pilot right now for us to limp along pretty well, and I certainly wouldn't object to grabbing the piloting profession, too. I think it relatively unlikely that I'd need to be a pilot and a mechanic at the same time.

OK, cool, gotcha.
I saw one character had two 10 point obligations ...is that ok?
I see that Bulleye has it listed in two places, I missed the second one.
To be clear: each PC can only have 10 points of Obligation at start. You can have two 5-point, or one 10-point.
Adjust as necessary.
Read up on how Obligation works, it's another cool system mechanic.
