Balon winces and hopes nobody noticed.

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Amadeus moves into immediate range to the nearest pallone.

move if necessary: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Speed defense: 1d20 ⇒ 13 with shield

You are now in position to attack next round.

Clever Nano who fuses flesh and steel - Might 9/12 | Speed 8/14 | Intellect 11/20

How does healing work ... 5 of mine have to be "repair"? Can I take a rest and strike? The short rest is one action ... How many actions do you have 1 move and 1 strike, or just one total?

can I retreat out of the threatened zone and rest?

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Based on what Aubster said in the moving post, it looks like movement is either part of something else if you move in the immediate area (meaning you're still in melee) or your entire turn.

RETIRED Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache Tier 1

Galahad will move closer to the final Pallone

Clever Nano who fuses flesh and steel - Might 9/12 | Speed 8/14 | Intellect 11/20

ah, what the hell ...

Onslaught with edge plus 3 to reduce difficulty to 6

onslaught: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Speed defense: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Intellect down to 3

Might 13/13 Edge 1; Speed 13/13 Edge 1; Intellect 8/8 Edge 0; Effort 1; Armor 1

Nasir will close on the final pallone and attack in melee.

Speed defense: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Verred attack w/thrust- 5 damage: 1d20 ⇒ 4

The rules are not super clear for fuses with metal..."Traditional healing skills, medicines, and techniques work only half as well for you. Each time you start at full health, the first 5 points of damage you take can never be healed in these ways or recovered normally. Instead, you must use repairing skills and abilities to restore those points. For example, if you start with a full Might Pool of 10 and take 8 points of damage, you can use recovery rolls to restore 3 points, but the remaining 5 points must be restored using repairing methods."

My take is that until you are completely out if combat and can use your repair kit you can't heal the first 5 points you lost in a stat pool. When you do normal healing activity you only get half of those points.

Just like Amadeus said you get One action per turn but movement in the immediate range doesn't count as an action.

The Pallone and Callidus continue to joust with each other (mental power vs. spinning top power). Neither is able to damage the other.

Nasir of the Kiln wrote:

Nasir leaps at the Pallone with his Verred in a classic Ajay position. Unfortunately his classic move is ineffective as the Pallone somehow senses the attiack and slides away from the blade.

Round 4 summary (running total of stat changes)

Balon (-7I) has no Pallone at immediate range so Balon does not need a speed roll this turn.

Amadeus has Pallone in immediate range.

Callidus (-7I) faces an undamaged Pallone.

Galahad has Pallone in immediate range

Nasir (-3M, -4S) has Pallone in immediate range

Round 5 starts now (attack and defense rolls please)

New Rule: The Old One-Two-Three: If three or more characters attack the same foe in immediate range, each character gains a +1 bonus to his attack.

Clever Nano who fuses flesh and steel - Might 9/12 | Speed 8/14 | Intellect 11/20

Onslaught with edge, zero cost

0nslaught: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

speed defense (no panache?): 1d20 ⇒ 3

One of the wires in calliduses are melts, he rips another form another port to replace it.

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Amadeus keeps his usual detached expression as he swings at the nearest pallone.

Adding one to our attack roll cause of the old 1-2-3 results in a hit that finally kills the last Pallone. Huzzah!!!

Huzzah!!! cries the villagers as they kill the last Pallone attacking them as you defeat your batch.

The villagers hold on to their make-shift weapons as they wait to see what you will do.

RETIRED Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache Tier 1

"Hi! How are you folks doing?" Galahad says, replacing his blade on his belt.

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Amadeus stands still for a couple of seconds, bringing his breathing back down to normal and allowing his muscles to relax. He turns around.

Is anyone hurt? We met Patel and Seria, they're safe.

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

Balon merely smiles and walks along beside Galahad to the villagers.

Clever Nano who fuses flesh and steel - Might 9/12 | Speed 8/14 | Intellect 11/20

Here is my understanding. I am down 13 intellect. I can use normal rolls, rest, etc for fixing of 8. The last 5 I need to repair.

So, a brief rest 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 puts me at 5 .... I can heal another 6 of my 11 left to heal but the other 5 need to be repaired

When I get a bit I will repair. What's the roll on that? I think it's the same as a heal roll but using my repair skill

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

I have that focus in my RL Numenera campaign actually :) My GM ruled that I can heal as normally as long as I have the tools and an amount of time equal to a second day's rest for each HP recovered. So 5 HP of healing would require 5 second day's rest's worth of time, so 50 minutes.

Might 13/13 Edge 1; Speed 13/13 Edge 1; Intellect 8/8 Edge 0; Effort 1; Armor 1

Nasir sheathes his weapon and takes a moment to treat the cuts on his arms.
First recovery roll of the day: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Galahad Rothery wrote:

The villagers seem a bit taken about the casualness of Galahad's greeting. The look at each and then the damage around them and then at each other again. No one responds.

Glaive Amadeus wrote:

A dark-haired, mature women rushes up to Amadeus on hearing his statement,"Patel and Seria are safe? Are you sure, have you seen them?" You can tell that she's on the verge of tears.

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

Balon chimes in. "They are safe, miss. Healthy and whole. Patel expressed grave concern for your safety - it appears we arrived not a moment too soon. Does your family have any injured?"

Can you double check your stat pool changes? I see 4 rounds that you attacked with an edge so that is only -12 to intellect. The other round you missed your defense roll and since the Pallone had higher initiative you took 2 might damage but no intellect was used (your attack did not happen).

A brief rest normally would give you 2 points back based on your roll but normal techniques are only half as effective so you recover 1 point to your stat pool.

For repairing, as long as you are not disturbed you can assume that you have the tools and expertise to repair those 5 points. You just need to spend 10 consecutive, uninterrupted minutes per point of repair.

You get to add your tier to the total so you heal 3 points.

Balon Marr wrote:

She gives you and Amadeus huge hugs ignoring that fact that both her and Amadeus are covered in Pallone goop.

"Thank you, thank you so much for this." Tears of relief are flowing down her checks carving channels through the drying Pallone innards on her face. "We're all okay now. My name is Naedi and Patel and Seria are my children. We lost a couple of villagers yesterday though. Something caused the Pallones to go mad. We've lived in the False Woods for generations and they've never attacked the village before." She looks around to make sure the other villagers are not listening and then adds, "I have no idea of what could have triggered the Pallones to attack."

Is she lying? Trained in social interactions... Intelligence check: 1d20 ⇒ 13

RETIRED Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache Tier 1

Galahad looks at the fallen pallone, looking to see whats inside (without poking around much, just looking at ones we chopped in half and such)

1d20 ⇒ 16

She definitely seems to be duplicitous.

Galahad Rothery wrote:

1d20

It seems to be made up of series of tubes and channels that radiate from a central hub. The central hub is composed of a mixture of organic brain matter and metallic fibers. You see nothing that would explain how it moves or eats.

Besides Naedi, other notable individuals include a much older man who is supervising the disposal of the Pallones and a young man who watches your interaction with Naedi while smoking a stim pipe. There are also a couple of tikes peeking out from the window of one of the dwellings.

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Given his purpose in the Order, Amadeus takes little at face value.

Detect dishonesty: 1d20 ⇒ 17

Please, ma'am, we're covered in goop.

He'll disengage and wave Galahad and Nasir over, and whisper to them when they get there, letting Balon do the talking with the villagers.

Some things aren't adding up. Why'd they send those two, but not any of the other children? They trusted the children's mount, but we saw that the other creatures in the false forest are not acting normally. Also, I think Naedi knows much more about what's going on than she's letting on.

RETIRED Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache Tier 1

Galahad will defer to the others in social interactions. It had been a minute since he really conversed at length with anyone.

You're sure that she's lying about not having an idea of the trigger of the attack.

Clever Nano who fuses flesh and steel - Might 9/12 | Speed 8/14 | Intellect 11/20

Callidus, seeing a break in the action, sits down in in a quiet area and begins working on his fused electronics.

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

When he gets a moment, Amadeus will call Balon over and relay his suspicions to him as well.

What do you think? I'm determined to get to the bottom of this, but you seem to be much more on your element when dealing with people than any of the rest of us, so if you want to, I think you should take the lead.

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

Balon is in his element indeed. Without making his gesture obvious, he gestures at the young man watching Naedi and smoking the stimpipe. In a low voice, he mutters, "Let's see if I can get to the bottom of this."

He walks over to the man and greets him.

Would it be appropriate to ask for a smoke of the stimpipe? In tobacco culture, that would be strange, but in marijuana culture, for example, that would be an opportunity for a bonding moment. Balon smokes stim pipes himself. Would asking for a "hit" be a good idea to establish camaraderie?

You can pick anyway you want to deal with a stimpipe. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the approaches

"Don't expect me to fall all over myself thanking you like that bloodworm brain over they," he says pointing to Naedi. "Stupid witch."

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

"I was actually just going to ask you for a smoke. I enjoy a good smoke after combat," he says jovially, winking at him.

Conspiratorially, he leans in closer. "What's her deal, anyway?"

Balon Marr wrote:

"Don’t believe those fools. This is all that girl’s doing. Why don’t you ask her why this has been happening?”

Strong Glaive Who Bears a Halo of Fire

Listening to the conversation between Balon and the boy, Amadeus scowls slightly, gears moving in his mind as he digests this new information.

This confirms my suspicions about her not telling the truth. He called her a "witch" is he referring to the mother or the daughter? I hope this doesn't lead to needing to kill the girl, that's just not right. It would explain why they sent her and her brother away, however, if they feared that whatever incident prompted this attack would lead to her being placed in danger not from the pallones but the other villagers, and that might explain the disturbances in the numenera that Collins was alluding to earlier. As well as what Balon meant when he said Patel told him Selia was special.

Amadeus will make his way over to Collins, motioning for Balon to come over when he's done and calling the others as well.

Collins, was it? Do you remember what you said about suspecting that something was tampering with the numenera on our way here? Is it possible that a person could do that, perhaps an exceptionally gifted nano? Nasir, as far as you know could a person be the cause of the unusual behavior of the Scutimorphs?

Human Charming Nano who Commands Mental Powers 1 M: 10/7 S:11/7 current I: 20/6 current Effort 2, Int Edge 2, Armor 1

"The girl. You mean Seria? How do you know?"

Might 13/13 Edge 1; Speed 13/13 Edge 1; Intellect 8/8 Edge 0; Effort 1; Armor 1

The Beyonder shrugs, shaking his head.
"There's nothing that I can rule out. Taming and riding a scutimorph is impossible, was impossible before we met those two. Must be something about the kid."
Chewing at his fingernail in thought, Nasir continues.
"But if the boy brought her to the Cylion Basin, he wanted to use their healing pools. We get here, we see that the scutimorphs are goin' nuts and acting funny- on their route out. The others in the False Woods was normal. Could be what happened to her, it threw the scutimorphs, the pallones, all of 'em out of whack. Wouldn't be surprised if trouble followed 'em out to the Basin, now that I think of it."

Balon Marr wrote:
"The girl. You mean Seria? How do you know?"

The man gives a bitter laugh. "Of course I mean Seria you dolt. She's a Beale...you know, controls animals with her mind. How did you geniuses miss that?"

Everyone can make a Numenera knowledge roll if you want to. You all likely have different levels of knowledge of Beale's ranging from never heard of to knowing uncommon knowledge about them. Please state if you think you have a positive modifier that you can apply to the roll and what it is.
