I have a work-related formal dinner event to attend tomorrow night, coupled with a project that I have been working on whose culmination is tomorrow morning. As such, my posts may be sparing for the next 48 hours. "Bot" me as needed, although I don't anticipate that being necessary.
Will do, thanks for the heads-up.

is there a way in the system to use XP perhaps to get other suffixes? such as, (not that i would choose this one but as an example, to become:
Galahad, the Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache and Fuses Flesh and Steel?
I wouldn't pick fuses flesh and steel (opting for one that none in the party have) but was thinking of a way to become more "magical" besides just buying Onslaught with my points.

Instead of using your XP points to move to second level as a Jack lets assume that you can buy level one as a nano or glaive. Figure out what you want to be and just write it up.
Nasir of the Kiln |
So I'll be spending 4 XP to raise Nasir's Effort to 2- and that brings me to second tier. I'll hold onto the other 4 XP for the time being.
As a tier 2 glaive I'm taking:
Training in either medium bladed weapons or medium ranged weapons; haven't completely decided. I can see him becoming a better archer just from hunting, but most of the fights we've been in he's used the verred. So I'm thinking about it.
For fighting move, again, considering either Chop or Successive Attack.
Tier 2 in hunts with great skill gives me training in stealth and initiative tasks. I also have Sprint and Grab for 2 speed points.

SO, my "level-up" will likely go as follows (i love this system, so fast to level up).
Tier Two Jack (decided that the party has several nanos, and Jack gets a few nano-like abilities later)
+1 Intellect Edge
+4 Intellect
Skills:
Trained In one task of my choosing (other than attack/defense) and it can take a skill from Trained to Specialized.
*Gonna take Numenera as a trained skill, and change my flex skill to something else (i can change flex skill once per day but i've had it as Numenera since the beginning of the game)
Tricks of the Trade:
Ward: +1 armor at all times due to a force field
Switch "Pierce" for "Practiced in Armor"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Could I switch my initial Speed Edge to an Intellect Edge? Nothing in the rules says I can, just asking if you would allow it. I am pursuing a slightly different angle with my character and have a slightly better knowledge of the rules now, hence my asking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Additionally, you said that, when gaining a level, I could take a level of Nano vice Jack, to be a Tier 1 Jack/Tier 1 Nano. Instead of that, could I take the first tier of a Focus? For example, go from:
Galahad, the Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache
to
Galahad, the Graceful Jack that Fights with Panache and Crafts Illusions?
In this case, I would be asking to take Tier 1 of "Crafts Illusions" rather than Tier 2 of "Fights with Panache". Similar in vein to what you said I could do with my Noun, just asking to do so with Focus instead.
For the purposes of this question and your consideration of the answer, "Crafts Illusions" was merely an example. I would not ask to take the same Focus that an existing character already has, but the following interest me:
Crafts Illusions
Focuses Mind over Matter
Rides the Lightning
Wields Power with Precision

Hi Alll,
Unfortunately, I'm dealing with some health issues that are keeping me from concentrating on the game so I will be stepping aside as the GM. If anyone else want to take my place let me know. Otherwise, I guess this is it for our adventures in the 9th world. I sincerely want to thank the 5 of you for making my first time as a PBP DM such a great experience. I'm a player in a few other PBP games and everyone has players that drop with no reason given or don't post on a routine basis. You guys never did any of that and for that I am grateful.
I hope you had fun playing. Just to give you some final thoughts on your characters...
Callidus finds his disappearing structure and thanks to the efforts of his friends manages to displace the current residents. He was last seen heading out to explore alternative universes.
Amadeus takes the tale of the worm people back to the Priests. They hail him as a hero for saving the world. He quickly rises in the hierarchy until he is the Priest-General in charge of the entire army.
Balon comes to the startlingly stunning realization that the flutter-byes are actually an intelligent alien life form that is trying to conquer the 9th world. He makes it his life's mission to stop the threat by killing flutter-byes whenever and wherever he finds them. He recruits a small band of followers that proclaim his greatness and help him in his task.
Nasir becomes the greatest bounty hunter the 9th world has ever seen. It's said that he can track anyone to anywhere. He acquires a flying ship that allows him to move around the world as he needs to.
Galahad amazingly enough becomes even more famous that his other friends. He writes directs, and stars in his own plays that are considered the greatest works of theater ever. What most people don't know is that he bases his plays on the adventures of he and his friends and they are actually autobiographical.

Dang.
Good luck on your health issues!
You did extremely well as a GM and the game was really fun. This was the first time i ever played numenera and it was a great experience.
PS everyone was great, it was nice to have a group that stuck together. i'd like to take over this game, but my work life is too hectic right now.

I would but I have my hands full GMing 4 separate campaigns at the moment. Honestly, despite how much I loved playing in this game, I'm okay to see it end cleanly and give me a little more time to focus on the other games.
