We skipped a step, only bringing it up for teaching purposes, you may get a more picky DM in the future. Before you can identify magic items you must first cast detect magic on the items. Lucky for you a venture captain is sitting right there, ala-ka-zam one detect magic :-)
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Freddie can tell that the bracers are +1 bracers of armor, he cannot tell what the other items are. Your venture captain decides to butt in and quickly list off what you have.
- bracers of armor +1,
- a mud-splattered cloak of resistance +1,
- an elixir of swimming,
- a dried gourd containing a potion of cure light wounds;
- and an irregularly-shaped mithral flask with jigsaw-like edges containing a potion of hide from undead. The razor-sharp flask doubles as a caltrop or an improvised dagger.
- +1 allying mithral longsword with the permanent broken condition
I cannot throw anymore DM freebies at you in the fairness of the game :-)
Orik Fistbreaker |
Any chance to Aid Another on that knowledge roll? Not exactly sure how that works?
Know Local, untrained: 1d20 ⇒ 10
If allowed, just enough to get there.
Orik asks Leorin if he's ever seen the place in this drawing before. "Wonder if this cou'd bae the place this sot keeps a'wanderin' tae at night? It looks a wee familiar, dae yae ken where it is?"
Maybe that prompts his "local" memory?

If anyone wants to do something it will be fair to say that it happened if you can post it in a reasonable amount of time. This post may not seem like much but it is enough to start to paint the scene and really make you think of last minute preperations.
Immediately after Sheila Heidmarch finishes cutting his bonds, Kalkamedes totters out the door of his cabin and begins stumbling northward. The night sky is clear with a waning quarter crescent moon that provides dim light, but the minimal illumination is of no help to the sleepwalking ex-Pathfinder, whose staggering gait propels him blindly forward with closed eyes. He bumps into the open gatepost clumsily stubbing his toe oblivious to what just happened and continues his somnambulance march north.
Orik Fistbreaker |
Seeing the former Pathfinder stumble into things like posts, Orik says, "Mayhap, one oof oos sh'd be oot front tae make sure the gaffer doan come to nae harm we cain prevent, like openin' gates an' the like, we might be able tae steer 'im a bit, if the path ahead looks dangerous. 'Member he walks ab'slute north, sae someone jes stay 'head o' him a bit, eh?"
Orik indicates on of the scampering rogue types should go out front.

if I am reading your description correctly it gives you a point per rank in bluff, at level 1 you can only have 1 rank in bluff, the other points are the +3 class skill bonus, and ability modifiers. If I have this wrong please explain, otherwise did you still want to use that point? That ability will be awesome at high levels!
Meredith Galantra |
Meredith keeps pace with Kalkamedes, guiding him along with a gentle hand to avoid potential hazards. As they leave the shack behind, she sighs to herself. The broken longsword weighs heavily on her mind, an ill omen. Perhaps after this she can get it fixed and present it to Kalkamedes. "If we survive, that is", she thinks to herself. She pats the longsword strapped to her side, and says quietly to Kalkamedes, "If you're in there, know that we'll stop at nothing to protect you."
Glancing around, she amends in an even lower voice, "Well, some of us will, surely."
Every so often, she checks that the tether between Kalkamedes and Orik doesn't slip out of it's knots, and that the bonds are not too tight on their charge. She smiles and thanks Leorin as he passes them and heads off to scout for dangers ahead.
"Don't worry, Brother, we'll see this through together," she reassures the responseless Kalkamedes.
I'll be marching beside Kalkamedes, on the opposite side of Orik if he's beside as well. I'll head over to Roll20 shortly and position myself.
Orik Fistbreaker |
To Meredith, Orik adds: "It mae bae best if'n I give yoo the roops, lass. I ken I'd help our poor bloke 'ere a wee bit more oot front o' 'im, wit' mae shield ready. If'n wae run into soom trooble, I cain protect this ol' gaffer better than from behin', yeh?"
If she is amenable to holding the reins, Orik will move to immediately in front and hold his large shield in such a way to offer a bit of protection for the restless Kalkamedes.
Zotu Starshine |
"It seems the others are eager to be in the front. I can help in the front or in the back." Zotu says thinking out loud, for his benefit and the groups. He happily strolls behind as quietly as he can go, short bow taut in hand.

A half hour has passed and your precautions of scouting ahead have already proven themselves beneficial; at the last moment Leorin notices there was an area of good sized rocks and he was able to clear them from Kalkamedes’s path. It is easy to forget such simple hazards with such a well weathered night as tonight, crisp air, calm moonlight, and the sound of crickets on the breeze.
Without scouting ahead he would of received a twisted ankle and taken damage every round... Will post next part shortly giving time should any of you wish to alter the party formation. Also, preventing him from moving forward with the use of the rope is a grapple and will use CMB vs CMD.
Frederik Nordsson |
Frederik starts periodically sweeping his gaze across the groups trail, relying on his companions ahead to warn him of incoming danger.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Assume I check behind us every 2-3 rounds. The perception check is just to see anything at the moment. Can't be too careful.
'Zitu, tell me if I'm going to walk into anything.'
Frederik Nordsson |
Frederik glances at the sky, and the rapidly fading light. He slings his bow over a shoulder and retrieves a torch from his backpack, lighting it quickly. He takes a few jogging steps to retake his position in the group.
Meredith Galantra |
Meredith accepts the tether from Orik, "That makes sense. And thank you." She continues along, keeping pace with Kalkamedes, with a careful watch for any hazards that he might stumble into.

The nights march has been pleasant barring the clumsiness of your sleepwalking charge, The grass in the highlands is soft and becoming wet with the gathering dew. The air refreshes your lungs after the long stays at the Pathfinder Grand Lodge in busy Absalom where you received word of this mission. About an Hour later Kalkamedes’s path leads straight towards a giant copse of thorns. It looks very foreboding against the blackened star pierced night.
knowledge nature and survival checks please, new map on roll20
Meredith Galantra |
Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Meredith begins to try and steer Kalkamedes away from the briar patch, not knowing much of survival in the wilderness, but knowing that thorns pricking bare flesh hurts.
