since some of you are new with PBP play around with how to format your posts. There is a button that appears when you go to write a post below the posting field, labeled How to Format Your Text

Play around with it, do some trial and error posts before we start, ask questions.

So just a quick tutorial for posting in the gameplay tab.

They are great for DM only info, or to cut and paste an ability or spell in to conserve space

I knew I said I was going to make a zen archer, but was fidling around and a paladin holy hunter farmer seemed more fun.


I like it. Personally love the blue collar working man hero.

So quick PFS rule: the first level is pretty much trial and error, until the character reaches 3xp you can change everything about him. Race, class, feats, skills, etc... The one exception to this is factions for some reason. So make sure you have the faction you want and fool around with the character all you want. You can change what you do no like in between adventures.

Yarp. This isn't my first PFS character - I play in my local society. This is just my first time doing PFS in PbP.


One problem I've had is that I didn't add a picture for the character when I initially made it, and now I can't figure out how to add one. The edit tab on the character listing doesn't show an option to load/choose an image.

This is my first PFS game though no where near my first Pathfinder game nor my first PbP.


I've got to change my default posting choice, otherwise that's going to get really annoying. :S (I'm Tradyk, by the by).

I've done PbP once, a while ago, in DnD 4E, but the game didn't last very longg, people just stopped posting.

Easy fix

go here click My Pathfinder Society at the top of the page. Sign in (if it prompts you to do so). Then you will your PFS character or characters if you have several. There will be a box that says edit next to your character's name. For some reason the option to change profiles can only be accessed this way. Let me know if you need a better explanation.


Those of you that have posted in the gameplay area have active characters on the roll20 site. Please double check that you can move then around the board.

You can edit them if you like but we will not be using the site for anymore than battlemaps.


Hope it's okay, but I'd like to switch over to my paladin so I can keep my rogue open. Just need to accept the application to Roll20 and I'll be good to go, I think.

Could you change the map's on Roll20 to the Pathfinder/3.5 diagonals? They're set to 4th edition by default. It's not necessary, but helps when using the ruler on diagonals when moving or figuring out distances.

4e has diagonals as 5 feet, no matter what. Pathfinder has every second diagonal as 10 foot.


Just to clarify some specifics

low-light vision:
Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-light vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to him as a source of light.

Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Darkvision:
Darkvision
Darkvision is the extraordinary ability to see with no light source at all, out to a range specified for the creature. Darkvision is black-and-white only (colors cannot be discerned). It does not allow characters to see anything that they could not see otherwise—invisible objects are still invisible, and illusions are still visible as what they seem to be. Likewise, darkvision subjects a creature to gaze attacks normally. The presence of light does not spoil darkvision.

Dim light:
In an area of dim light, a character can see somewhat. Creatures within this area have concealment (20% miss chance in combat) from those without darkvision or the ability to see in darkness. A creature within an area of dim light can make a Stealth check to conceal itself. Areas of dim light include outside at night with a moon in the sky, bright starlight, and the area between 20 and 40 feet from a torch.

The humans in the group are subject to the 20% miss chance without light. The dwarf and aasimar have 60 ft Darkvision, the elf and half-elf are seeing just fine.

Yeah, figured sight was going to be a problem. I've got torches, but can't really use them while holding my longbow.


It is funny how the simple things taken for granted are coming to haunt you in this adventure. Plan for more, most of this is common sense.
