I didn't see Alivar on the map. Let's put him safe in the middle at S28.
Zasha Rennet wrote: I didn't see Alivar on the map. Let's put him safe in the middle at S28. Thanks, I was having trouble opening the map the other night. S28 sounds fine.

“Spiders?! Where?”
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Have the spiders moved? If not, I will try to verbally aid the others in spotting them. Does that give them another check at +2? I suppose that probably chews up my action for this round, too.
With that perception check, you can't tell. But yes, a standard action describing their location will give the others a +2 to their next perception check.

Alivar up, first full round.

"Oh my! There they are!"
Alivar casts lead blades on his sword.
Ana's bow is readied as a matter of course, but she's not inclined to kill unprovoked - if what we want is webbing and can find a way to harvest it without killing the spiders, she's willing. Of course, if the spiders attack her or the party, the truce is over.
Anyway, that's why no attack on the surprise round.

Crowe will ready an action to charge a spider when they get within charging range.

Crowe can't hit a DC of 25 with Perception even on a 20.

"Crowe sees them!"
Crowe will charge to Q20 at hit the one (which hopefully will then be clear to people) in P19. Raging, and throwing in Power Attack.

Crowe charges forward, purple rage visible in every straining muscle. As he comes to a stop, he lets his momentum carry forward into his hammer, swiping at the webs as high as he can reach.
A flood of purple ichor washes down over his arms and face, and a high pitch squeel is heard, before a body drops from the tree at his feet.
Poor spider....

Ana tries to keep an eye on the spiders, but it appears that Crowe has things well in hand.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Alahazra cautiously moves forward to keep Crowe close by (10 feet) but she is clearly lacking confidence in this terrain.
She will be ready to move in to heal if anybody does fall over.

As everyone focuses on Crowe, another giant spider bursts from the webbing above to pounce on Lyern. The wolf manages to avoid it's mandibles though with ease.
Alivar
I’m not certain of Alivar’s position on the map, but assuming he is in range to do so, he will move to a position where he can attack the spider – say Q25 if that’s viable in a single move. Then attack with his sword (enhanced by the lead blades spell).
“Have at you, varmint!” cries Alivar, darting forward and slicing at the over-sized spider with his sword.

Zasha draws her blades and runs forward, circling around to get behind the spider.
Can't move and strike, so the best I can offer is flanking with Lyern. Double move to O25.
Alivar moves forward. Striking out at the spider, he id greeted with a crunch as his enchanted weapon breaks carapace. A small flow of purple ichor starts to drop from one of the spiders bigger legs.
Meanwhile Zasha moves around, and comes at the beast from behind.
Anna and Lyern up.
Leryn lunges in and snaps at one of the creature's legs, trying to pull it off balance.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 = 14 Thanks for the flank!

Meanwhile, Ana keeps an eye on the leaves above and an arrow readied, looking for another ambush. If she spots one within 20', she will shoot it.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Including PBS
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Lyern dives in and snaps at the spider, trying to take out one of it's legs. Stead the beast falls to the ground, unmoving.
The woods go suddenly very quiet.

Crowe looks round wildly for the next target.
Still raging, as I don't want to be fatigued just yet.

"Let's draw them out if any are left. I'll play bait."
Zasha begins to move steadily toward the nest while looking around.

As deeply as Zasha peers into the woods, there is no sign of any more spiders. Crowe's rage fades with the lack of new opponents....
You have two dead spiders and a nest to investigate. What do you want to do?

Zasha waits for the others to draw closer, then steps up to the nest. "We want the web's, right?"
She starts to saw at a strand of the web with her sword.
Cue the baby spider swarm!
Technically you want the sticky stuff around the webbing, or a web gland from a spider.
Within the nest you see a cluster of eggs, glued together with the adhesive you are looking for.
Ana looks at the spiders thoughtfully.
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Trying to determine if she would be able to harvest the glands from the dead spiders.
"A steady hand could remove the gland from the spiders." She points out what would need to be done. "Slip of the knife, no more gland. I could try..."
Looking for those talented in Heal or Survival. I have a modifier of 6 in the latter.
“I’m afraid that kind of delicate work is not my forte,” says Alivar.

Quote: "Slip of the knife, no more gland." Crowe is winded by his exertion, but he leans on his hammer and says gravely, "In Crowe's tribe, a man with ten children went to the wise woman, said he wanted to have no more. This happened to him." He pauses, then adds. "Crowe thinks this wasn't what he had in mind."
Anyone going to Lend Ana a hand?
Gathering the substance you need from the nest is easy enough, and quickly achieved. Pretty soon you have a few vials full.

6 in survival sounds like a good, maybe our best best. Z is willing to help.

Wow, nice rolls, folks!
Survival to harvest web-spinning glands: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Yay! With my track record, I was sure that was going to be a waste of Zasha's roll...
Both Crowe and Zasha make an excellent job of stripping the important parts from the spiders.
You have what you came for. What is your next move?
"Well ... that was easier than expected," states Alivar. "Very nice blade-work you three. Is there anything else we need to do here? Should we examine the nest? There may be young spiders ... but there could also be treasure from the spiders victims?"
Ana nods and looks up into the leafy canopy, "There could be bodies."
