My Final Way (Inactive)

Game Master Big OM

The third test run of Way of the Wicked.

51 to 100 of 128 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

note to GM, consider him for roleplaying purposes to be a bit worn out from the tortures of brandenscar's inquistitors. And if I do make it please remember that Kareo's hatred of the Inquisitors is exceptionally high.

As for his fleshed out backstory i'll tell you more about his lover as the rest of his life has basically been martial arts training.

on Naraja:
Naraja can at best be described as a very deceptive tiefling, this is only natural considering she is a cleric of Asmodeus and a tiefling. She found Kareo to be her most valuable ally and lover. She found him attractive because of his unwavering devotion to power and mastering the way of the hungry ghost.

She nevered betrayed him do to the simple fact that she had seen his abilities in action, she knew what the price of betrayal was. Her most notable traits were her unfailing ability to see the truth and her unflinching devotion to Asmodeus. However her influence was not enough to save him from Brandenscar. While he had killed the paladin who was the primary person to have known about her, many in the church of Mitra had their suspiscions. She might be a useful contact if he makes it out alive.

she should, assuming she is not disguised have red skin, a bald head with a crown of small horns and having predatory yellow eyes. She should be considered to be a cleric with the fiendish vessel archtype. If I get selected she may become a cohort or something of that category.

Chasik:

Please show your point buy calculation to me I think it might be wrong. Which throne are you talking about? House Darius gained the throne from House Braca?

OM:
25 points to start
STR 16 +2 from Human=18 (10 points)
DEX 14 (5 points)
CON 16 (10 Points)
INT 10 (0 points)
WIS 13 (3 Points)
CHA 8 (-2) points)

1 Point over, so I will tweak WIS down 1 point to 12

OM:

thanks for the info kind of answers any questions where the character stands. At least you gave me some feedback, and thanks for giving a look over.

Not be rude or mean but I would rather not be considered as an alternate. I have already been shafted once with that, that was enough. Funny, it was this character too and the same module.

Oddly enough the same stats I rolled in your previous WotW campaign lol. As far as the House question, yes House Braca "sent him". Chasik is slightly mad, think of Russel Crowe from the movie A Beautiful Mind. Updated his background, please retread and give thoughts/concerns :)

now i know Cyx is out never made the cut for the list of submissions...

Neither did I Cix, despite giving a full rundown of my character's basics. Enchantress Witch = Arcane. But it's just a mistake dude, it's not like they thought "omg, not those two! quick, don't put them on the list!"

I've been gone for a bit, so I don't know how much you have done, but my assumption was 'I haven't posted stats or a BG, they probably aren't sure I'm still applying'.

And since tat list wasn't made by the GM, it's not a reflection of his opinion... Just sayin

Sorry about that. Edited to put in Cyx, but I was really only counting completed apps there - there are a few people who dotted and never turned back up with anything beyond a statement of race/class.

@BigOM

I just got accepted for two more games and have hit my limit at six. Thanks for the review and your time. Have a great game! I was really looking forward to playing eeevillll!

cheers

I'm probably going to submit an alchemist, but I won't be able to flesh him out until tomorrow night. So... still pending.

Edit:
Odds are it'll be either:

  • Alchemist (Vivsectionist, Beastmorph) - Murder
  • Alchemist (Mindchemist, psychonaut, internal alchemist?) - Forgery

Not that that helps, without a backstory and stats, but it shows in what directions I'm leaning.

  • @lucia

Got my character stats and backstory up.

All right, that's probably it for edits.

    Chasik:

That is one way of doing it, but you could save some points if you buy:
    8 (-2)
    16 (10)
    15 (7)
    16 (10) +2 human
    8 (-2)
    10 (0)

In total 23, remember this is point buy no need to gimp yourself.

    Cyx:

I do not consider it rude and I think I understand your position. I hope you find a WotW game some day, perhaps we'll play one together as players.

@Arzazel - Thanks for applying and good luck with your games.

@Bobson - No problem you have until next Wednesday.

We do seem to be missing rogue-types, those will probably have a better chance to get in.

    Sovereign Court

At least I have a shot, WOOT. I updated stats to charisma 12. I didn't think to do it that way, thanks :)

    Big OM:
What will you do when your companions doesn’t follow the tenants of your faith, PvP? I was going to try and convert them, by showing them the power then can have once the new order has been established. If they cannot be converted as long as they do not actively work against the church and they can help me further my goals it should not be a problem. I can hint at riches and power that may be theirs, without making promises.
Why was he a cruel child? Growing up in the temple seeing others treated as slaves and being oppressed he did not learn to care about his fellow man. Only when he was older did he learn the value of a rigid code that can keep the faith safe.
Why did the priests of Asmodeus allow the gang to endanger the church by working so open? As the gang got larger only the core of the gang was the devout but as children they were happy to allow followers that they believed could be converted in the future. The church felt we may be able to establish a small foothold in the slums, but were not prepared once we started moving outwards. The slums were a good source of slaves, and they were happy for what power we were bringing in.

    Big OM:
working out a cleric (taking both archetypes cause i can!) and a trapper ranger right now.
Since Arzazel, yellow-eyed buddy? left, Crowley's here, although he has no desire to kill the devil here (supernatural references =P)

will post soon if that's coolio?

    2 questions:
Barrister needs Evil or Law, but not Devil?
and Apostle only gets a single Domain?

I'm taking the Evil domain, but i dont' know if i can have Devil Sub-domain, or if i have two domains with those classes. Cause i'd like Trickery for my character concept.

What's the region here? I'd be interested in going with a Thunder and Fang build for my Manslayer Ranger (trapper) if i'd have access to a Klar and Earthbreaker, but i also got a Straight basher crunch that i'm working up.

I really want to do a Druid, if i can come up with a story, but I'm trying to figure out something that isnt' forced...

As Vladst is from northern Talingarde and branderscar is in the south he will not be personally known to start so should be able to pass off as a random half-orc. I could pick up a disguise kit aswell to help if i need to pretend to be human. He isn't so stupid that he would create situations just because someone looks at him strange either. He is not so  intelligent but has good charisma that im hoping he can talk his way around if necessary. He gets his rage on mostly when a fight breaks out and loves fighting. But also knows when it's better to fight and when not to.

The unfortunate infant boy who took up the name Crowley was kept by his noble mother as a potential present for other noble born in case she required an alliance, as his stock is good and more likely to produce a Noble Lady than other potential mates. Crowley appeared to revel in his lavish life of preparation to become a veritable concubine, secretly plotting his escape.

Asmodeus was his savior. Taking him from the Demon-worshiping Drow, Crowley fled. eventually he dragged his broken and battered body up form the underdark and into the blinding light, yet there he remained, in an effort to prove himself to his dark lord and bring more into the fold.

Still working out my traits, either Sedition as he was stirring up rebellion, or Heracy/Desecration if I get to have the Trickery domain. other trait to to get disguise as a class skill, so with Trickery i get a different trait that adds something cool.

Once I know about Trickery i'll give a better sample of my character's style with a scene from his capture.

Personality: While utterly without concience, Crowley is surprisingly personable, aiming to be the embodiment of Affable Evil, a magnificent bastard, a man of style and taste. With honeyed words and a sympathetic expression even victims of torture would feel bad for making things hard for him by the time he's through. His only true goal is to serve his beloved Infernal Lord, his merciful savior who saw his potential and took him, and undeserving, hedonistic, fatalistic wretch form his confines and gave him new life, one he truly loves.

A master of lies, he reveled in hiding his identity and spreading the Infernal Taint, pushing the virtuous to fall and righteous to vile heresy. He truly enjoys and loves this upper world, full of the light which burns his eyes and fuels his unyielding hatred for all things sacred and free. Sadly his goals of turning this world to one pf perfect and divine tyranny have been harried, yet perhaps, in his supreme conniving, his hellish Father has a greater plan for him yet!

    Liberty's Edge

    DM:

    Spoiler:

Devils have a high Charisma and my character has low Wisdom. He was also an extremely sheltered child who resented not ever having a chance to be who he really wanted to be. (And you know, he was born neutral evil, for whatever stock you put into nature vs nurture alignments)

    Edit:

    Spoiler:

To be honest, I'll admit that I (the player) am a little racist when I play humans. I always play a human character as the type who lusts for power and can't help himself when he has the opportunity to gain advantage over another person. To me, that's what humans are all about. Self-centered and self-serving.

    GM:
Saw about the lack of Skill characters, so here's Kallek too, if i may present him for your consideration. He's a skill-ranger with Trap-finding and trackign and stuff. FE Human at the start.

    Shield Style Trapper Ranger
    Kallek the Man-Trapper
    Points
    7 - 15
    5 - 14+2=16
    5 - 14
    3 - 13
    5 - 14
    0 - 10

Skills 2+6+1+1: Climb, Disable Device, Handle Animal, Intimidate, Knowledge (???), Perception, Sense Motive, Stealth, Survival, Swim

    Str 15(17), Dex, 16, Con 14, Int, 13, Wis 14, Cha 10 (Dual Talented)
Haven't decided if Dual Talented is better, trading the bonus Feat for another +2, or if i want the one that gives me 3 Skill Focuses. I'd take Perception, Survival, and something relevant later.

Two weapon fighting to take advantage of his FE bonus as much as possible at level 1, growing into a high threat weapon plus shield combat style for Bashing finishes with TWRend by 11th.

    Kallek, the Man-trapper NE

Quite the opposite of Crowley, Kallek is a huntsman very much lacking in social graces. What is most upsetting to Kallek is that he is to be executed for Attempted Murder. Priding himself in being a skilled hunter and killer he is to die for his failure rather than his success which enrages him.

Kallek is a boisterous and ugly man who is not kind in his kills, torturing the animals he takes, butchering them alive. It was not until a man attempted to take a portion of his latest kill that he turned on humans. It was Kallek's kill, and he didn't care that it was only a scrap to feed his family, Kallek slew him without a thought. In the dark night within his home woods, he hunted down the search party raised to find the missing man. Then when enforcers came to investigate the disappearances of villagers they too were dispatched through clever and brutal traps, maiming then leaving them victims for the beasts of the forest.

Apparently the commander of the team did not appreciate Kallek's present for him, a bear-trap that shattered the soldier's leg. Kallek had no idea how the man escaped the trap and wolves after the scent of blood, yet It was this soldier of some rank and repute that Branded Kallek.

Not a follower of Asmodeus, Kallek is bitter and angry at the kingdom and will very quickly turn his loyalty to the Dark Prince at the offer of freedom and revenge. While cruel, Kallek is a non-confrontational man. Not argumentative or particularly strong-willed, Kallek cared about his home in the forest, in some ways, as long as he is not provoked, he can content himself with his own brand of sadism.

There's room for Kallek to grow into any group, personality wise. He's not particularly personable, but not necessarily stand-off-ish and should have the tactical use to the prisoners to merit their attention thnks to FE. aside from being a sadistic hunter who hates the city now...

Lucretius Snow, LE cleric of Asmodeus, ready to burn for the crime of desecration, awaits your inspection.

With as many applicants as we have here, I hope we will get a few more DMs offering to run this campaign...

    waiph:

Please choose one character to submit. If you go with the cleric you get one domain either Evil or Law. You can choose a subdomain associated with one of the two domain instead.

@ Lucretius - I wouldn't be sure this is my 3rd recruitment and there nearly always seem to be this many applicants.

    Lucretius:

A good concise background, I would like to see how you write. So either a writing sample or a link to a character please.

My background is here. I assumed I was just supposed to post as my alias with the info. Do you want a writing sample beyond what is written there, or is that enough?

I'll post my background here as well. My stats are at the link above.

    Background:

Lucretius grew up a spoiled merchant's son. He enjoyed his life of luxury but always wished for greater respect from the nobility. He fell in love with a minor nobleman's daughter named Tyra. He went to her house to sell some of his father's fine cloth. Tyra took a fancy to him during his trade visits, and one day her father caught Lucretius kissing her instead of fitting her for her new dress. Lucretius was beaten to within an inch of his life, cruelly whipped and then thrown into the street. He lay bleeding in the gutter for a while. When he found the strength to get up, it was revenge that motivated him.

Lucretius knew that alone he would never have the strength to strike back at this man. He turned to the forbidden worship of Asmodeus and sought to gain power so he could give the nobleman who wronged him what he deserved.

Unfortunately the bastard died before Lucretius could give him what was coming to him. Never one to give up a grudge, Lucretius instead took an animate dead scroll and snuck into the chapel of Mitra where the nobleman's body was laying in state, awaiting his funeral. Lucretius knew he could at least prevent him from having peace in the afterlife...

Lucretius waited until the body was left unattended for a moment, and cast the spell. Unfortunately at that moment Tyra and her mother arrived in the chapel and witnessed everything. The nobleman's body rose as a zombie, but Lucretius had been discovered. The women started screaming and the guards were upon him in moments. In the brief skirmish, Lucretius set the altar on fire. He then jumped through a stained glass window in his attempt to flee but was quickly overpowered and sent to prison. Ironically it was the testimony of the woman he loved that condemned him to death by fire.

Lucretius hopes to escape and one day bring down all the haughty noble houses of Talingarde, and leave them in the gutter bleeding as was done to him.

Yes please, I would like to see how you write prosa/gameplay threads, a link to another character perhaps?

Here is a PFS PbP I've been playing in as Garen Haldir.

    Here are two specific samples:

    Interacting with an NPC:
Garen looks on Grandmaster Torch's wounds with a grim and morbid fascination. I wonder where he earned those marks of battles past... probably better not to ask... He clears his throat and then asks, "Who else uses this trail? Is there anywhere in particular along the trail we should try to plan to camp, areas that might be easier to fortify our position for the night? Anwhere in particular we ought to avoid stopping? What kind of creatures are we likely to encounter during our journey?"

    Gameplay post:

"THE BEAST IS UPON US!!!" Garen yells to try to wake everyone else up. He then takes a five-foot step towards the beast and strikes with his masterwork longspear over Kurth's sleeping form.

Assuming he is medium or smaller, I am using power attack with Pushing Assault to drive him further away from Kurth. The feat is listed here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/pushing-assault-combat

    1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
    Damage (if it matters): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

If the beast is too big for Pushing Assault then I add 3 to my damage instead.

This alias is my other PBP character, Dhaavan. They're somewhat similar, in some respects, but Dhaavan's a sociopath with a perpetual Shyte-eating-grin and is evis for lack of the capacity to be good. Crowley is an actively evil sort, but affable, lying through his teeth to pretend to be something he's not to achieve his lord's infernal ends.

    Big OM:
Is the a place for a trap-finder/survivalist in this game, or are those slightly less relevant to the AP? If it's not a particularly necessary roll, I'll go with Crowley the Cleric, Traits Keeper of the Veil and Sedition for having attempted to stir up rebellion, hiding his true nature. I'll post an IC sample so you can see what he acts like in character when. I get a chance this weekend

    Waiph:

I think you're properly better of with the cleric. There are traps in all 6 books but not much nature survival.

@Lucretius - Spot on just what is was looking for.

    DM:
I haven't read the other aasimar submissions, so I do not know what should be different without more specifics. Drizzt was drow that became one of the most famous characters in fantasy lore and good from a prominent evil clan. I do not see why the opposite is impossible. Obviously when a character offends the DM, he probably won't be selected. What is inconsistent with Gimlet in an evil campaign for the bad guys?

    Gimlet:

I am not saying that your concept is bad. What bothered me is the visit from the celestial. When I read it, it is as if your character was created, perhaps through conception I am not sure. I know you write why he was created, but I feel a little unsure why.

My other remark regarding assimar is it is a common them to take these the quintessence of good and turn them bad.

I don't understand you last question, could you elaborate?

    big OM:
I think my point was that Way of Wicked seems to be a unique concept in that it encourages evil characters. At first, I was turned off by WoW as I play mostly good characters, paladins being a favorite. My common frame of reference to make an evil character personal was a character with such pressures to be good and a huge ego and pressure from family, that he turns evil.

    Background:
Hazel was born in the capital of Talingarde before the House of Darius took over. Her mother, Sarana, was a cleric of Asmodeus, and her household was well ordered, and her punishments swift. She wasn't a bad mother however, she loved her child with all of her heart and raised her very well for six years. Hazel grew up without a father, her mom said he was “A bad choice, with a good reward” referring to Hazel.

As she was growing, she spent much time in the Temple of Asmodeus where her mother preached. Although she never felt a divine connection to Asmodeus as her mother claimed, she did begin to have dreams involving devils. They called out to her, asking her to join them. They whispered to her of vile secrets about different people she knew, and how she could begin her training early. When she told her mom, Sarana was overjoyed that her daughter was able to hear the minions of Asmodeus. But it scared Hazel that she could, and she secretly decided not to listen to them.

A year afterwards, she found that she was beginning to develop strange powers that even her mother couldn't explain. Her powers were nothing noteworthy, sometimes food would go bad suddenly or a candle would light up without any cause. To her mom they were slight happenings, but to Hazel they were amazing. Hazel began trying to train herself, but met with no success. This year she was also sent a warning by the devils that blood would be spilled in a year, and to tell her mom to ready the clergy. She had vowed not to listen to their evil whispers, and despite the warning, she paid it no heed.

Then when hazel was six, the House of Darius made their bid for power. They swept over Talingarde with a righteous fury that even the Asmodeans couldn't match. They destroyed the temple her mother preached at and then came to their house. They slew her mother in front of her, and then turned to her. She isn't sure why they didn't kill her, perhaps she was young enough they thought she could be re-purposed to serve Mitra, but they were wrong. They stuck her in an orphanage with kids she didn't know, none of whom even knew who Asmodeus was. She stayed there while the war raged on.

Despite not knowing how to do it, with grief and anger in her heart, believing if she had just listened to the devils in the first place her mom would be alive, she called out to Asmodeus in a dark ritual never heard of before or again that nearly killed her. That night she dreamed not of the devils that had so long visited her, but a lone devil, shrouded in darkness. He beckoned to her and she began to walk towards him. “I see you blame yourself for your mom's death little one.” Hazel shrunk back seeing he knew she was warned about the coming war. “Do not fear me my child, many people ignored my warning, believing us too powerful to be defeated. But now we must find a way to strike back... Can you be patient little one?” Hazel nodded her head. “Good. Take this, little one, as a symbol of my blessing. Talk to it in your thoughts, and through it, I will teach you to prepare for when we rise again. But as I said, you must be patient.” The shrouded figure opened his hand, and inside was a snake. When she saw it, she squeaked in surprise. “Ewwwwww, a snake? They're slimy!” Hazel said.
“Trust me little one, he is not slimy, nor will he harm you. But keep him our secret, do not let anyone else know, for they would get jealous of you.” The figure said with seriousness in his tone. Hazel held out her hand and the snake slithered onto her arm and rested while wrapped around it. Hazel then stared up at the imposing figure. “Remember little one,” he began, “commune with the snake, and I will teach you how to avenge your family.”

Many years went by, Hazel learning from her secret pet the mysteries of why she had been developing strange uncontrolled powers. Even more than that, she was taught the many facets of Asmodean worship and the religion. When she turned 11, she asked the snake why she had to learn all of this, she heard the voice of the shrouded figure say, “Because without it, you will never know what you fight for, and how to best serve.”
“But I want to learn something useful!” she said, with fire in her heart. She had been learning about texts and rites and history for five years now, surely it could end. “Do you remember what I asked you when we first met young one? I asked if you could be patient and you said yes. I need you to keep that patience going, it isn't our time yet,” the devil replied. Hazel knew he was right, what could she do at just 11? Later that year, one of the bullies in the orphanage followed her into her room to beat her up, but before he could throw any punches, the snake darted from hiding under her bed and bit the boy. The boy began to choke and gasp, his lungs sealing off from the venom in the snake. After a few seconds he collapsed, unbreathing, and the caretaker came running in at the sound. “What happened in here?” The caretaker exclaimed. Hazel looked up at the old women with the biggest, roundest, most tear covered eyes she could manage and said, “He... He... He was going to beat me up! I didn't know what to do so I just hurt him! But now he isn't breathing. Am I going to be killed for hurting him?” Hazel began to sob. The caretaker looked down at her with pity and said, “Hush child, everything will be okay. It was an accident, get some sleep now.” Hazel turned away and grinned, it had worked! This was when she realized all of the learning had taught her how to manipulate events to her advantage, and how to be patient until her plans were realized.

Many years went by without incident, the other kids afraid to talk to her. Hazel didn't care, she had her pet and Asmodeus. When she turned 18, she was allowed to leave the orphanage. She took the opportunity to go out on her own and learn new things. She spent much of her time learning how to dress in ways that helped her natural charm and good-looks convince others to give her her way. She mostly got by through convincing others to help her, and avoiding coercion in the new self-righteous Talingarde.

When she turned 24, the figure revealed himself to be Asmodeus and offered her a deal. “I will speed up your training, and make sure you find failing to be a rare occurrence if you will pledge yourself to me fully.” She didn't even have to consider it, he had taught her almost everything she knew, and in that first meeting had been more of a father to her than she had ever had. She immediately said “Agreed.” She began to learn magic from Asmodeus through the snake, subtle tricks to aid her lies and manipulations. As she grew more and more, though slowly, she became more and more successful. She continued to hide her worship of Asmodeus, and no one suspected her true motives. She made true friends with few people, keeping to herself during her own free time.

When she turned 26, she believed it was now time for the plan to be set in motion. She began to talk to people about the old religion. Although she convinced some that the religion of Asmodeus wasn't the worst, and that it wasn't worth reporting her for simple idle talk, after nearly a year, she made the mistake of unknowingly talking to the witch hunter Balin, who hailed from Barfeld. He immediately placed her under arrest for sedition, and brought her to the worst prison that talingarde had to offer. Before locking her up the snake tried to bite Balin, and he simply caught the snake and tore it from her. Looking at it, he said “Looks like you're guilty of witchcraft too! You certainly have quite a list going in just one night. You also have six months before your head rolls. It is a pity to waste such a pretty face. But it is pretty ones like you who seem to be the worst, may Mistra have mercy on your wicked soul.” Hazel spat at the door he left through.

Throughout the six months, she attempted to charm the guards, but without her snake, it just wasn't as easy. She was tortured and interrogated about both her plans and contacts trying to bring down the House of Darius and her witchcraft. She refused to talk about either until they threatened to scar her face. “It was the orphanage owner, she raised us to hate you. She raised us to know that you were wrong in the world and that you should be taken from power.” She said and the guards let her go back to her cell. Later that day, a guard came in and said, “We got some new jailmates coming in to keep you company sweety. You all got three days before you die, try not to die before that.”
“Well that's too bad, my birthday is in five.” She said with fake disappointment.
“We'll put some candles on the headsman's block for you then.” The guard said and left laughing to himself.

    The Exchange

Tin Jasha Has run afoul with the Church of Mitra. Working from within, her outreach to those in need of healing without supplication to Mitra were blasphemy of the most traitorous kind.

    background:

Fayth was raised in a lower class section of Talingarde. She worked the healing houses washing linens and the scullery. As a teenager, she advanced to the tending to the non-medical needs of the patients, bonding with many during their long term recovery. Her healing hands were seen for potential and she learned much from the priests and healers of Mitra, but there were several patients and a rather charismatic yet slightly heretical priest of Mitra who seeded doubt within her heart. Why would Mitra allow so much pain and misery? Mitra stayed silent to her prayerful entreaties. She called out to the other gods and goddesses. Only Asmodeus whispered back. His answers rang with pragmatic truth. Fayth had found her true calling.
Recognizing the blasphemy would not be tolerated, she sought to hide allegiance. She was well versed in the doctrine of Mitra. Was seen often volunteering for outreach missions and afflicted poor who could not afford the higher trappings of Mitra official houses of healing. This served a two-fold purpose, avoiding scrutiny by her learned elders who might discern her true allegiance and seeking disenfranchised non-Mitra worshippers. She was most comfortable working amongst the people that needed her help without the required supplication to Mitra.
Her actions, overheard whispered prayers in unrecognized language and refusal to adhere to evangelical requirements of the church elders brought her under intense questioning. The truth was at last revealed under inquisition methodology. A side of Mitra teaching she suspected was revealed. It was dishonest in its holier than thou efforts. Instead of breaking her will, the fervor strengthened. The elders recognized a lost cause in her; cast a damning judgment, marked her forsaken and sent her to Brandascar. Too cowardly, too holy to carry out the sentence within the white washed halls of Mitra.

    Personality:
Her normal personality is outgoing, cheerful, gregarious and always willing to lend a hand. However, around the church elders of Mitra, she becomes skittish, seeking to avoid their attention while at same time undermining whatever authority they may hold. While incarcerated, she has the slightest hope that her patron of choice, Asmodeus will find some way to release her. Or perhaps an uprising rebellion of all the people she has helped in the past. It matters not.

    Final Judgment:
Tin Jasha breaks the wax seal on the ornate scroll and waves the courier away. Ignoring the dismissal, he waits expectantly. Tin’s eyebrows lifted in surprise and a knot formed in the pit of her belly. Scanning the summons, for it was a summons to appear before the Church Elders regarding rumors of her character. ”Oh dear, this is serious. Just a moment while I tend to my patient and alert the monks of St.Macarius of my departure.” Turning to the bedded patient, she makes some minor adjustments, thinking furiously, she waves over one of the monks. Turning back back to face the courier, ”It’ll just be a moment…” Her eye flick to the opening door where a knight of Alerion enters, followed by a crowd of her co-workers and peers in the St Macarius monastery. The knight zeros in on the courier and then upon her, his face contorted with suspicion while the monks’ faces openly wear shock, hurt and disbelief.
Tin Jasha’s face must’ve mirrored some or all of that for the courier made a sudden grab for her. Missing her by a split second, the courier snatched only the delivered scroll, as Tin suddenly pops out of existence to reappear right behind the courier, no longer cornered by the bedside. A stunned silence stifled the room, briefly until the knight yelled, ”Stop her!” This was the catalyst that broke the tension. She turned and sprinted to the rear doors, plunging through them with a mad scramble, hue and cry with the pursuit close on her heels. Many hands grabbed for her, each time missing, causing a brief Pop an impossibly fast shift 5’ away, before a dog pile prevented further movement. ”I told you she would run. The guilty always do. And you are guilty aren’t you Missy. Teleporting is not one of Mitra’s gifts if I recall. We will see what the inquisitors can find out.” The knight thumps her in the head, knocking her out.
Tin Jasha’s bedraggled entrance into the court immediately following interrogation was a far cry of her soon-to-be former life, manacled hands and feet, gagged as well, flanked by two knights of Alerion. The Judgment was rendered without discourse, without defense, without a chance of appeal, then frog-marched to a waiting armored carriage en route to Brandascar.

This was a fun character to develop. I see her evolving into a bubbly engaging necromancer.

    Background:

The unfortunate infant boy who took up the name Crowley was kept by his noble mother in spite of his slight physical imperfection. He was saved only because of the perfect symmetry of the 5-pointed mark centered on his chest and how easily it could be hidden. His stock was still good, more likely to produce a Noble Lady than other potential mates he was raised to serve as a potential present for other noble born in case she required an alliance. Crowley appeared to revel in his lavish life of preparation to become a veritable concubine, secretly plotting his escape.

Asmodeus was his savior, the inverted pentagram upon his chest a mark of the Lord of the First's favor. Taken from the Demon-worshiping Drow, by infernal imspiration, Crowley fled. Eventually he dragged his broken and battered body up form the underdark and into the blinding light, yet there he remained, in an effort to prove himself to his dark lord and bring more into the fold.

To this end he disguised himself as an elf and sought to stir up rebellion against the Regime of House Darius, which lead to his capture.

    Personality::
While utterly without conscience, Crowley is surprisingly personable, aiming to be the embodiment of Affable Evil, a magnificent bastard, a man of style and taste.

    Capture:

In a small room, a short elf speaks to his friends, poor and malcontent, he encourages them, "It's despicable, Kallek. This self-rightous regime's hypocrisy knows no bounds. You are hunted like a beast for simply defending yourself from theft. You've been more than generous with the wretches of your village and this is the thanks you get." Crowley says, placing a hand on the huntsman Kallek's shoulder. Looking to the rest of the group, "This double standard, protecting those who fall into line with Darius' arbitrary standards of how one should live. their so-called morals only serve to entrap you and force you into obedience, your reward for your sweat, toil, and blood is merely a word. Virtue is not worth being Talengarde's slaves dying for an idea with no choice or freedom, Mitra's fodder, ground to death in the gears of the machine that is this kingdom."

Crowley smiles warmly at the room, hiding his vicious grin with warmth. These fools are mine, my lord. Discontent with their simple station, it takes only a few choice lies and half-truths to turn them from their path, marching into the fires of your embrace. The people take his words to heart, believing they are enslaved, thinking themselves enlightened. That is until...

With a knock at the door, the spell of his words is broken. Frightened, and unsure the peasants murmur. "Calm down. we're just having a dinner is all," Crowley reminds them of their plan.

A soldier steps to the door, "Sir, I am sorry to intrude, but there is a thief on the loose, and we believe he may have broken into your home. Pleas allow me in to search for him."

Easily seeing through the lie, Crowley tells the man, "We did hear something, but Alder here went to the back room to look. We thought it must have been an animal as it fled before he saw it, but perhaps it is your thief."

The poor soldier is utterly out of his element, confused and believing that perhaps there was an animal in the back of the house, nearly forgetting his purpose till his superior says, "Enough of this, seize him."

Having not seen the helmeted man before, Crowley hesitates a moment allowing himself to be grabbed. Laying a hand upon his assailent, he weakens the man's resistances and then asks "Please sir, Release me now." with the force of an infernal command.

Compelled to do, the shocked man allows Crowley passed. Trying to make his escape, the Knight that came with the soldier blocks his progress. "I've hunted your kind before Drow," taking a swing at Crowley's face, sending him sprawling to the floor and rubbing away the pigments the Drow used to hide his skin tone. His flock now seeing Crowley for the first time rises to come to the door and turn on him.

Reaching his hand into his robes and clutching his Holy Symbol, Infernal Energy bursts forth from his body, leaving the hapless arresting soldier and civilians on the floor wracked in pain. Only the Knight remains, unfazed by Crowley's attack, and unleashes his own power, healing the fallen saying, "You're lucky I found you when I did. Had your rabble-rousing succeeded, you'd be drawn and quartered, rather than the mercy of a quick death."

"So you're supposed to bring me in alive then?" Crowley asks, beginning to plot his excape.

"Yes, but I only need you stable. Not conscious," are the last words Crowley hears as the Knight's blade cuts him down.

I'm planning on submitting a backstory that ties in with Bobson's, which he will submit tomorrow night.

    Ileas:
    http://plothook.net/RPG/profiler/view.php?id=12096

    Background:
Ileas Sardot is the second son of the prestigious Sardot family. As an Aasimar his birth brought honor to his family and proved their angelic heritage. He was the apple of his father, Waylan Sardot's eye, until his 6th year. His father had shown young Ileas the family crypt the previous day and Ileas, an insatiably curious child, decided to investigate further on his own. He delved deeper into the crypts than his father had shown him, to the hallways filled with the musty bones and open alcoves containing the bodies of servants and branch family members. He got lost and wandered the catacombs for hours until eventually he fell down a steep passage. He broke his leg in the fall and the pain caused him to fall unconscious for nearly a day. When he awoke he was weak, bleeding, and alone in the dark. Ileas's father has begun a search, but no one had thought to search the crypts. Ileas would have died there and become yet another skeleton had his divine connection not awakened. Ileas prayed desperately for salvation but deep beneath the ground amongst the dead on ground that had not been hallowed in centuries no god of good could hear him, but another god could. Asmodeus answered his prayers and offered him his life in exchange for subverting his destiny. Ileas agreed and became a servant of the God of Contracts. He became afflicted with Black Blood, but gained the powers of an Oracle. He healed himself and managed to find his way out of the crypts a full 2 days after the beginning of his untoward exploration.

His family was overjoyed to find him, but their joy soon turned to horror as the Cure Light Wounds spell of the family healer wracked Ileas with pain and caused him to black out. Ileas's father spent a vast fortune trying to cure Ileas, growing more and more desperate as the years passed. Ileas was tortured by the touch of white magic and was bedridden for weeks at a time due to his father's treatments. Waylan used more and more outlandish treatments, hiring hedge witches and alchemists. He refused to turn to the darker arts, refusing to tarnish the Sardot name by acknowledging the true nature of Ileas's condition. The last man he hired was a tiefling named Zevron Trelenus. Trelenus told Waylan initially that the condition was inherent to Ileas, but after being rebuked Trelenus spent 2 weeks making a smoking snake oil concoction for Ileas and pocketed the several hundred gold pieces he had been paid. Waylan wasn't fooled, and he used Trelenus's tiefling heritage to demonize him to the wardens and get him sent to Branderscar Prison. Ileas confronted his father and told him that he didn't need to be cured. They had a heated argument and Ileas snapped, murdering Waylan.

Ileas tried to cover up the murder by summoning zombies to devour the body, but a maid discovered him in the act and fled before Ileas could silence her. Due to the horrific nature of the crime sentencing was quick, and Ileas was sent to Branderscar prison to be executed.

    Personality:
Ileas can't escape his angelic blood, he still trusts and will support his companions in adversity. That's the extent of his angelic tendencies however, constant torture by his parents for more than a decade has twisted Ileas. He enjoys subjecting people to negative energy and thinks nothing of manipulating the foolish and dominating the weak. He likes having mindless undead at his beck and call and dreams of the day when he will have a host at his command.

    Big OM:
I'm trying to decide between tiefling, ratfolk, and gnome. The background would be similar for the first two, (which are also mechanically better), and the gnome would have a slightly more normal background. My preference is the tiefling, since it would be the most interesting, but because they're outsiders, he'd detect as faintly evil, even with one HD. That would foil the whole idea I had thought up for him.

In Council of Thieves, Paizo introduced several alternate tiefling abilities, which you can find here. I'd love to take #70, "You are aware of and can choose the result of any attempt to detect your alignment" to replace the 1/day darkness, and I'd be willing to spend a feat on Fiendish Heritage to do so, if necessary (I'd also be Daemonspawn, in that case).

If that's not feasible, let me know and I'll choose between the other two, probably the gnome.

I believe i'll shelf the monk for later and try making a wizard (consider Kearo to no longer be an entry). This wizard has the eventual goal of becoming a diabolist.

    Lessons of Arcana:
The Arcane always fascinated Torin Kavix, unfortunetely a problem existed in his attempts to learn it. This problem was that peasants by order of house Darius were forbidden to learn it on pain of death. However like all problems that Torin Kavik had run into he was determined to succeed. So he signed up as a clerk at the church of Mitra, he used all his wit and guile to gain the confidence of the clergy.

After a year of hard toil he earned their trust and could go about the place without their eyes boring into his backside. He did not let his guise as a loyal, dim witted and efficent clerk down however. It was only on his second year at age 14 that he began to probe the forbidden sections of the library. It took three months of careful skullduggery and sneaking, but he found what he was looking for a book of Asmodeus. Even better it was one detailing the ways of the ancient order called the hell-wizards.

The hell-wizards were arcanists who in their search for power found the Infernal master of Contracts. The hell-wizards to strengthen their power made pacts of great power with Asmodeus, in return he asked for their souls. The magic itself was difficult to grasp until Torin realized that the pact was the primary source of power the hell-wizards had used. Later that night in a deep grove in the woods, Torin began the process of enacting the pact.

When it was done he collasped in pain. He awoke an hour before dawn to find a series of infernal tattoos covering his back and chest. The magic then came to him with great ease. So began his career in extortion, he made a killing as charmed priests "forgot" the offering left on the alter and nobles were blackmailed by a unknown (but very intimidating) sender to give large sums of money.

His plans fell through the floor however when one noble figured out who was operating the extortion industry. After a quick trial he was sent to brandenscar prison, the inquistitors just thinking him to be a con man and thus not worth much more than cursory torture. He will make his bid for freedom...and demonstrate why the hell-wizards were feared of old.

GM and everyone else, feedback on the story if you would.

I applied to your first iteration of recruitment with this character. I may change the stats around a bit to reflect the point-buy, but everything else, such as the backstory, would remain essentially the same unless feedback requires otherwise. A question before I do, though: are you intending to carry the game through to its written conclusion, or is it just a temporary trial run that will be dropped when you begin your tabletop version?

Withdawing interest. Best of luck to the rest of the group.

@Jude - A good question. I am not planning on closing this down when I begin the tabletop version. I might close a campaign down if it moves to slow, but the two others are moving at a brisk pace.

    Hazel:

Quite a long story, not much to say about the concept, solid. A few fluff questions? From my reading of the fluff there is more than 26 years from the ascension of House Darius until the adventure takes place. Which prison are you in? You are only going to be in Branderscare for 3 days before you are burned.

    Tin:

    No coments.

    Ileas:

A decent background, I see traces of Batman, no problem though. I am not sure how I like the ending about killing his father, it seems a little thin. But hay it happens in real life. I will say I have seen a few assimar submission where they turn evil, this is on of the better.

    Bobson:

A tiefling would be fine with me. Feel free to take no. 70 without taking the feat to replace darkness. I'll be honest if you chose a ratfolk you wont get in.

@Cid - No problem, thanks for submitting.

@OM: I'll reread the players guide, must have missed the part about years and will change her birth to match the canon. For the prison I just assumed we would go to Branderscar and hadn't named it. But would you be opposed to me saying she was in a different prison before being transferred to Branderscar for her execution?

Great, thanks, OM. I'll piddle around with the character sheet this afternoon and resubmit. It won't be much of anything new. :)

@Padawan09 - I have no problem with you changing your background, that is among other things why I read your background.

@ Jude - Just rememver that deadline is wednesday.

    Big OM:

Any questions or comments about Crowley, or is the submission good?

Thanks for the reminder. Got it done. Was as easy as doing the point-buy on the stats, which allowed me to put it a little closer to where I envision it. After all, it does take a little bit of strength to tighten a garotte, even around a woman's neck.

Here is Zevon Trelenus, "Reformed" Tiefling, Alchemist.

    Background:
Zevon Trelenus has been living off his wits for years. Born in the slums of the capital city*, Zevon never knew his father, and killed his mother in childbirth. The baby tiefling would have died then, if he was born in a less righteous place, or had even a smidgen less luck. As it transpired, the midwife's own daughter had just lost a child, and the woman felt sorry for the newborn. "You shouldn't blame him for the mistakes of his parents" was the refrain that would echo again and again in his life.

Of course, many tieflings do follow in their infernal ancestors' path, and Zevon was no exception. As he grew, he learned how to lie with a straight face, always leave himself an out, and how to fool paladins into overlooking him. Once again, "You shouldn't blame me for my parent's mistakes" was his refrain.

Zevon could have simply accepted his luck in even being alive, and had a relatively peaceful life, but growing up in the shadow of the palace instead gave him an overwhelming desire for the nice things in life. At first, he apprenticed himself to a healer, because everyone respects healers. But after he learned how much work went into that profession, Zevon began to pervert his master's teachings and started brewing drugs. When his master found out, he kicked him out and reported the fiend to the guards, but Zevon managed to slip out of the city ahead of them.

Since he had no desire to work for a living, Zevon set out to trick his way into the good life. Traveling through the less settled areas of the kingdom, he became a wandering con man, playing whatever role he thought could get money from. When he could, he would mix up a few batches of the drugs he had developed, which he found could make him more appealing or sharpen his mind.

This continued for a bit under two years, until Zevon caught word of a wide-open call for anyone who could cure a noble child of a most unusual affliction. Seeing this as his "in" to the big leagues, Zevon presented himself at the Sardot manor. When he discovered the nature of Ileas' illness, though, he hatched a much more devious scheme than simply bilking the nobles.

Pretending to be an exemplar of overcoming one's tainted nature, the "lawful good" tiefling convinced Waylan Sardot that his son's affliction was incurable but the behavior was correctable. He began to teach Ileas how to behave correctly and control his impulses, but secretly, the tiefling also instructed the tainted aasimar in the ways of deception and trickery. Their plan was to arrange an "accidental" death for Waylan, and split an good chunk of inheritance between the two. Unfortunately, the plotters were not careful enough, and the noble got word of the deception. Still hoping desperately to cure his son, he publicly proclaimed Zevon as a fraud (not an attempted murderer), and had him taken away to Branderscar.

    * Assumption: Even the slums are cleaner and nicer in Talingarde, but they still exist.
