"No, not undead!" the man says with horror. "We have enough of that in Ustalav, and that's not what we're interested in. Death has ... an effect, though. He may act ... differently. He may feel weaker..."

He's describing raise dead, which offers a negative level.

Sure, I figured, just having some fun.

"Oh. Oh! I see. Yes, well, that's all right now isn't it. Yes, yes, that would be very generous. I'm sure we'd all agree. By all means, let's see what we can do for the man."

When it's made clear to him that no undead will be raised, he's all for it, and insists they do so as soon as possible.

Tenebrynn frowns thoughtfully at the offer, "Well, a little weak is better than dead, I guess." She pauses for a moment, chewing on her bottom lip, before looking up at Kyffin and then the man making the offer. She nods, her hair bobbing with the motion, "I think Heinrich would have agreed to it if it were me."

Tristain doesn't have a conscious opinion on the reviving Heinrich matter, but in the morning, he might think it was a good idea.

* * *

In the morning, Tristain will come down to breakfast and look to the others.

"What do we do now? Sell what we've gotten and get out of here? Or are we going back?" Tristain asks, thinking both are valid options with all the death and weirdness around here.

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Ok, sounds like Kyffin's going to revive Heinrich as soon as possible. Is anyone going with him? Tristain was upstairs during that whole conversation.

Kyffin and the two Sleepless Agents and any other PC who wants to go find Heinrich's body right where the half-orc left it and head back to the Sleepless Building as the day goes from gloom to dismal night, the clouds preventing even much starlight from lighting the way. Fitful lamps cast little circles of light, breaking up the darkness.

Inside, Cesadia and Lady Winter greet you somberly, their eyes growing wide at the burden. You fill in what happened after Winter left.

"So he didn't even have a chance?" she asks. "I wonder if I could have saved him if I'd been there."

Cesadia shakes her head.

"We can still save him now. We don't have any more resources of this, but I think you've all done enough to help us, and I hope you'll continue," she says.

She hands over a green glass, a liquid sloshing inside.

"If you annoint him with this oil, it should bring him back."

It's an oil of raise dead.

Kyffin will go wake Tristain, assuming he'd want to see this - or at least give him the option of joining. He'll need someone to help him carry Heinrich all over town at least.

Later, with the Sleepless Agents, Kyffin is no beggar when it comes to appreciation, and he shows it. "Many thanks, and I'm sure Heinrich will say the same when he's back. I don't suppose you have any Restoration lying about? We can pay for it. It's just he's going to be awful weak, and I'd help him if I could."

Regardless of their response, he thanks them again, and carry's Heinrich back to the church to do the anointing. He lights a few candles to push back the darkness and waits to see if it works.

Tenebrynn offers cheerily, "Maybe Heinrich knows how to make some? He made that potion that let Winter climb up the walls after all." The little gnome then follows Kyffin to the site where he means to anoint their fallen friend with the oil. She looks up nervously and confides softly, "I really hope this works."

Tristain stops his post-breakfast bonking to answer Kyffin.

"Yes, of course, I'd like to see that. And help if I can. This is important," Tristain replies and gathers his stuff for the short trip. Being in town was better than being in the asylum and being in the undead and unreal monster fort, he had decided.

If given the opportunity, Tris will inspect the oil of raise dead, something so powerful and interesting that he's never seen or held before.

Tristain will help Kyffin help Heinrich as best he can, whether it's by being underfoot, or always standing in the exact wrong spot, or getting in the way accidentally, Tristain is helping.

When the oil is applied, Tristain will be bonking the back of his head into a wall as he waits and watches.

My impression was this was still the previous evening. Kyffin wanted to go immediately.

Assuming Tristain goes at night:
He can't make out much about the oil, and has to assume it will do what the Sleepless agents say.
