Round 3:

Starflit: 14
Kyffin: 13
Lothan: 13
Tristain: 13
Albert: 6
Antagonist: 20

Starflit's starknife hits the human then goes through a lamia image. Kyffin can't take advantage, though, as his blade cuts through three more images, leaving the lamia more exposed -- but still a deadly threat. Kyffin manages to see through the images, though, his spell finding the true target and slamming into her, spraying fungus across the twisted street. Still it stands, however, but he's able to fend it as it totters from its injuries.[/ooc]

To the south, Al and Lothan battle on, the archer pincushioning the nearest lamia, leaving Al free to take on the other. He hesitates, letting it comes to him -- and into Lothan's sight -- but takes a slash from its dagger in the exchange. [/ooc]8 hp[/ooc]

The spellcaster stares at Tristain and then gestures, a dread bolt streaking toward the flying loon. But somehow -- perhaps due to the odd effects of the city's geography? -- just barely misses.

Starflit gives a quick nod at Kyffin's words. "The thanks and praise should go not to me but to the Black Butterfly...but I'll pass your gratitude on to her." After casting detect magic, she joins the treasure hunt, concentrating mainly on the fungified spellcaster.

Once Kyffin makes clear his Wisdom drain issues, Starflit will use restoration to heal that. (Will tick a 4th-level spell off her list and subtract 100 gp from her wealth for the diamond dust spell component, assuming that's OK.)

After tapping herself twice with a healing wand, 'Flit frowns and says, "I'm not sure if this place is affecting the wand's magic...or maybe it's out of charges...but it doesn't seem to be working right!" She than casts a CLW from her own spell reserves and smiles brightly at the result.

We do need a Will save from Al, though.

Each of the lamias had a +1 dagger. One also had a ring made of clear crystal that radiates magic ring of X-ray vision, one had a copper clasp holding a filthy vest on her a brooch of amber sparks, and the third had a set of filthy gloves gloves of dueling.

The human had two scrolls, one of flame strike, one of major curse; a +1 chain shirt, a +1 spear, a cloak of resistance +2 and 548 gp.

His attention clearly acquired, "Did someone say a Ring of X-ray vision?" He grins mischievously as he nonchalantly glances over at Starflit through narrowed eyes.

Clearing his throat, "Um, you know, my friends, I think I'd be pretty handy with that ring. Think of how strategic that would be for 'Team Us'. Might make the difference between life or death. LIFE. With little idea of where you go, you continue to try to make your way to the lake, which turns out to be a stunning ultramarine blue. The single factor disrupting its beauty is the water’s mirror- like reflection, showing a haunting skyline of metal, wood, and stone structures in all directions that don't exactly match what you see when you look around.

With few other clues, you continue to search, fending off the occasional other undead-fungal creature. You think you spot something at one crossroads, a a traveler turning down one of the paths. But when you call -- and then rush after -- they're nowhere to be found. Elsewhere, Kyffin hears a phantasmal proclamation, “We’re turning right here; I have foreseen this path before,” echoing several times. Again, though, it proves to be nothing more than sound, signifying nothing that you can tell. Hours later, you all hear the screaming of a delirious person from
just out of sight and his comrades’ worried observations that tendrils are growing from his skin and that they must burn the body. When you reach the source of the sound, though, you find just a charred stain on the ground, and once again, the apparently hallucinatory travelers turn out of sight ahead, not to be seen again.

Eventually, the visions lead to a dark, basalt tower 400 feet tall with severe corners and concave sides that nonetheless appear to bulge outward. Most notably, the tower has a broad set of stone double doors—an anomaly in the alien city.

Standing before the doors are two indistinct travelers. For once, however, they do not run. They speak to one another in distorted voices, seemingly unable to see the massive entrance nearby. From a distance,
the shadow-shrouded travelers appear to be more of Lowls’s phantom hirelings, but as you get closer, their forms come into focus: The humanoid figures have no mouth, and each one carries a burning sword that matches its flaming wings.

As you approach, they turn to face them, leveling flaming swords in your direction. They seem unfriendly -- maybe even hostile -- until they catch sight of Al's religious symbol, denoting his faith in Erastil.

"Who are you strangers?" you hear their voices in your heads in your native tongue. "Why have you come to this forsaken city?"

"Very well, mortals, make sure you 'shout' loudly. We shall not be pleased if you do not do as we have said," Aumensilakos says.

As they depart, Starflit quickly ascertains the door is safe -- or at least as safe as anything in this city might be -- and opens it.

The walls of this hall bulge and curve with unsettlingly organic concavities. Thousands of sinuous etchings trace their way down the walls, as if the walls were scarred by roots or marred by burrowing worms fleeing some peril from above. Three staircases arch, dip, and intertwine as they ascend dizzyingly to a series of hexagonal passageways.

In your peripheral vision, the walls seem to flex and contract, as if the tower were breathing. The stairs here ascend at inconsistent angles, sometimes climbing like ladders and other times descending several feet to weave underneath another staircase. Ascending or descending is treated as traversing difficult terrain unless a creature has a natural climb speed. Where the staircases cross, one passes approximately 10 feet over the other, a sufficiently modest distance that a creature can harmlessly drop down from one or use one to clamber up to the staircase above.

Unfortunately, as you look around, you quickly realize you're not alone. Three more human figures lurk on the stairs -- which you quickly realize are affected like the human you fought outside in the city. They move to attack!

Tristain's Haste: Round 1/13. You feel an urgent need to bonk your head on a wall, this can be overcome by acting quickly and decisively. If you choose to act quickly and decisively, then get +1 to attx/reflex yadayadayada. Otherwise, choose to enjoy a nice wall bonk, which is also lovely.

Remember you all have air walk, so no need to trust the unusual staircases to move about.

Kyffin takes a moment to summon aid from Sarenrae before moving up alongside Al (standard summon thanks to feat, 60’ move thanks to haste - air walking). He summons a Bralani Azata on the staircase behind the opposition between yellow and red and in flank with Kyffin.

Tristain casts Haste on the good guys (and will include Lothan too) and scoots back a bit.

Lol!!!

"Okay, y'all take care of that one. I've got the ones in the back." Moving a step closer, Lothan takes a controlled aim at the one further back and unloads a multitude of arrows toward it.

5' step one square forward; Studied target(Yellow); Attack Yellow - who is just within the 30' range.

Lothan has Improved Precise Shot. And Clustered Shots(if it matters).

And with the back two being flat-footed, Sneak Attack time. :)

Lothan, you should be at full health coming into this.

Round 1:

Starflit: 8*
Albert: 23
Kyffin: 20
Lothan: 20
Tristain: 17
Antagonists: 14

The team moves quickly into action, thanks in part to Tristain and Kyffin's magic. Al and the summoned bralani carve up the foremost foe, but he keeps his feet, and his wounds begin healing as he strikes back! He swings his battleaxe twice, chopping into Al 26 damage, before lashing out with tentacles, which hit both Kyffin and the bralani, and wrap around them. 9 hp and 8 hp, respectively, and both are grabbed

Lothan fires arrow after arrow toward the undead in the back, who explodes in a burst of sports before even getting the chance to act. He's greeted with a return flight of arrows from the third combatant, two of which hit home right in his chest. 43 hp total

I'm going to assume that Starflit's finally up.

Also, a quick question: Do we really have air walk up and running? I thought we were saving that for an emergency and had walked to the city and were exploring it by foot...but my memory ain't what it used to be.

Starflit scoots forward to join the scrum, drawing her starknife as she goes, ascending the westernmost staircase before again using her Freedom's Call ability to free her allies from the fungal tentacles.

I'll hold off on judgments and bane for now in the hopes that the others can take out the last two foes quickly.
