Dargon Dolgrinson |

"No, my friend! That is no way to think. If you are to be a great adventurer like Silvio you must seek to overcome the challenges that are set before you", Silvio inducts Sekathral, gesturing vigorously with both hands as he talks. "If you act that way your enemies will simply say 'We will build our stronghold under water so Sekrathal won't be able to get to us'. That can not be done against Silvio. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays his hand from delivering justice!"
The burly dwarf looks at Silvio curiously. The kid is getting more outrageous in his boost.
"Indeed, unless of course their defense includes showering you with women and drink..."

Sekathral |

Help yourself to my cusses, Motte :)
Sekathral glares at Silvio. "You've never come across the ancient art of Elven Battle Whinging, have you, mate? This is just the run-up to me bursting into a beserk frenzy and sweeping all before me. The dwarf's right, though - snow and heat and gloom of night and bulging corsets AND old brandy might prove too much for you. Might prove too much for anybody. I'd rather be p*ssed out of my skull and suffocating in someone's bosom than sodding about down here, I can tell you"

Map coming tomorrow...
The hallway runs 10 feet to the south, then turns west for 35 feet before turning back to the north again. All of you except for Silvio and Zstelian hear sounds, possibly combat, coming from a door in the south wall at the far end of the hall.

I get +2 if it's human! Also, please include Tosh on these reactive rolls unless he's stowed away since he can directly communicate with me and his perception is decent.
Zstelian looks around dumbly.

Zstelian Karela |
Thanks.
Zstelian nods understanding.
"Let's try this again", he says as he begins muttering an incantation, performing a hand signal to invite good luck, and touches each member of the party.
Guidance on everyone.

Sekathral, creeping up the hallway, you peek in the door and see a large room, its floor covered with thick padded mats. Thoughout the room stand all manner of target dummies made of clothes and armor stuffed with straw, some of which wear bell-studded coats with numerous pockets and others of which are draped with manacles and chains hung with cheap-looking padlocks. To the west, a wooden stage sits a foot off the floor, a padded throne flanked by potted plants on top of it.
Six men and women are in the room, half of them apparently practicing swordplay together, one watching and one practicing with one of the bell-studded dummies. They don't seem aware of your presence.

Kyson Tirc |

"Aye, take a peak elf," Dargon whispers before turning to Zstelian, "Can da little one keep eyes on our flank?"
Kyson's eyes move to the weasel after hearing Dargon's words.
Kyson puts his back to the wall.
I don't want no weasel checking out my bum.

Sekathral |

Can I hear anyone mention any names?
Sekathral sneaks back to his companions 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 and tells them what he's seen. "Right prigger's academy here, ain't it? What d'you want to do - scrag 'em all now or avoid them? If we're on the shivving lay, how about we lure the whoresons out one by one?"

Zstelian Karela |
Zstelian nods at Dargon's suggestion.
Lowering Tosh to the ground Zstelian points and mutters to the weasel, "Go to the corner and keep an eye out."
"I'm for scragin' them. This is the same lot that sent us that threatening message right? Let's leave them an equally threatening message of our own."

Dargon Dolgrinson |

The dwarf prefers a straight up brawl but when he is out numbered he doesn't forego sound tactics.
"We'll have an easier time at it if we force them to come at us through the doors back there. But if they have another way out on the other end, it might be better to rush 'em."

Kyson Tirc |

Gah. We are in a decision rut...and, sadly, Kyson isn't the yahoo who can, in character, get us out of it. Silvio, Sekrathal, or Dargon...do something? Make a decision? Kyson will follow...I promise.
Kyson scratches his behind, still wondering why Dargon wanted the weasel to keep an eye on it.

Sekathral |

"Well" Says Sekathral, pondering. "These beauties are pretty good at getting people's attention" He produces a thunderstone. "We could get into position, chuck one of these into the room along with one of Finn's bombs, then put the big easy on whoever comes out to see what the fuss was about; these" He shows the rest of the group his caltrops NOT a euphemism, by the way. Kyson. "Can stop people running places we don't want them to, if placed carefully. Would that solve your worry, Dargon?"

Silvio Callgari Pazzi |

"Silvio grows tired of this discussion and demands to know why we stand here talking", Silvio interjects. "Silvio will enter and offer them a choice of surrender or Silvio's blade", he states then looks at Sekathral. "You may first throw your stone if you wish, but then Silvio is going to take charge of the situation."
Unless someone stops him Silvio walks up and kicks the door in. Blade in hand he salutes the warriors in training. "You have the honor to stand before Silvio Callgari Pazzi, great sea captain and renown adventurer. Throw down your weapons and surrender and you will be spared. Run and you will be caught. Fight and you will die. Silvio awaits your choice."
Ready action to attack anyone that enters within reach.

Sekathral |

The door is open, so I'm going to sneak up Stealth 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 then throw the stone at the far wall (since the floor is padded) ; it might be a good idea if Silvio waited until it's taken effect before making his grand entrance, but if we'd rather go hell for leather, fine by me. Phew.

Silvio Callgari Pazzi |

Eventhough i love the idea of Sekathral making gestures at Silvio's back, go for the first since that's the one you character chooses. Silvio can wait outside then present himself once the thunderstone has gone off. So, go with the "Throw the thunderstone" option.

motteditor RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 |

OK, going with the thrown thunderstone, but only Silvio will have entered the room before we get to initiative.
The echoes of the thunderstone fade away as the men and women in the room seem stunned by the sudden noise and Silvio's appearance. However, after a moment, they seem to have gathered their wits.
"I don't know who you are," one says with a cold smile to Silvio, "but you just made the biggest -- and last -- mistake of your life. Kill 'im!"
The official map has a slightly smaller room than I've presented for the fight, mostly because there are four extra characters between PCs and NPCs, and no one would've been able to move.

He will then look at the hallway behind him, keeping a lookout for enemies.

Kyson moves to cover the back hallway, where he can hear noises coming from farther down the hall, apparently shouts about what's going on.
Silvio, following Zstelian, moves farther into the room, but can't connect with his foe, despite the man still trying to collect himself.
Four of the remaining thieves swarm the two attackers, while one moves to a better position, drawing a hand crossbow, after knocking loudly on the door to the southeast.
