Malavarius King |

Malavarius, wanting to avoid any face-to-face trollish entanglements, stays out in the hall, but sidles up to the wall beside the door. Tapping the foot of his staff against the floor, a shimmering curtain of watery light blossoms from the head once more, covering and sheilding a number of his young hangerson.
"I say, Zeno, did you glimpse that troll in there? He's a particularly ghastly looking one, don't you think?"
"He looks like any other of these brutes if you ask me."

"'Spontaneous combustion' occurs when fire comes from nothing, what do we call this? 'Spontaneous aeration'? Quinn? Mal? or is it you, Pems? Who's controlling it, and can you lose control?"

The troll, reeling from Quinn's fire and Pems' magic as well as the elemental's blow, lashes out at Tsin, clearly trying to clear a path to get to the fire caster, but his blade is turned at the last moment by Mal's magic.

"Spontaneous aeration? What are you going on about, Tsin? There's no such phenomenon as that. Is there such a phenomenon as that, Zeno? No? I thought not." Malavarius scratches he beard and peeks around the corner into the room to make sure everything is well in hand. "Good! Good. Aha! Look at them go, Zeno! Ha ha!"
Apart from that though, Malavarius simply maintains his protective ward over the majority of the group.

"Pems, do you have any more fire in the flask?" Quinn holds out his hand hopefully, "We've got to burn these beasts to ashes!"

Tsin Windscar |

Tsin brushes quickly at the fire, only realizing too late that her instinct convinced her to ignore it, as a beautiful opening revealed itself. "Oh, for the love of..." Once, the fire is well and truly put out, she turns to the others.
"Except for the columns, I think we've done enough here, don't you? We should signal the force that the dragon is slain, and ready ourselves for the next step towards our oath."

Tsin Windscar |

"Like I said, master Malavarius. Five beds, five heads. There is likely little to nothing behind those doors. I'm sure of it. But, if it will satisfy your curiosity, then... Hektir? Be a dear, and put an old man's mind at ease."

Hektir the Tracksmage |

"But, if it will satisfy your curiosity, then... Hektir? Be a dear, and put an old man's mind at ease."
Hektir does as double-take, looking at Tsin and then at Mal, then back at Tsin.
"Did you just ask me to behead Mal? I don't think that's going to help now...maybe when we...oh...OH! You mean for me to check the next door? Oh...I can do that. Sure," Hektir says with a spit. He goes over the right side of the north doors and opens them when Tsin moves up.
"Let's do this."

Opening the doors, Hektir sees three prison cells lining the north wall of this chamber, while a fourth cell is set in an alcove to the east.
Six young human children, three girls and three boys between the ages of 6 and 12, are locked in the cells.
Toward the northeast corner stands a large butcher’s block covered with old bloodstains. A cleaver too large for human hands is embedded in it. A bare table rests along the west wall.
A sinister 7-foot-tall humanoid with white fur and dead white eyes stands near the table along the west wall, staring at the youths.

Tsin Windscar |

Tsin finds herself suddenly uncomfortable with this new creature, as it stands quite apart from the now familiar troll family. She tries to mark it for weakness, before rushing in blindly.

Quinn Kestrel |

In a burst on energy, Quinn rushes the room, leaps past the beast to the bloodstained table, claiming the mighty cleaver as his own, while slapping the dead-eyed child thief. "Cad! Tsin moves into the room and slashes at the albino creature, just hitting as he takes a moment to react to the situation and realize what's happening.
Hektir also moves into the room as the children begin to cheer and cry in relief as they realize rescue might be at hand. He's not as accurate with the blow, though, perhaps distracted by their acclaim, and his blade reverberates harmlessly off one of the studs in the creature's leather armor.
The creature shudders at Pems' magic, but then grins. "I'm not afraid of fire, little pests," he grins, showing sharpened teeth in blackened gums.
As he draws his sword, one of the children calls out, “Then be afraid of this!”
She pulls a bag of marbles from the pocket of her ragged dress and throws them under his feet. He nearly slips, and though he's able to keep his feet at the last moment, his aim is completely ruined, and his ogre hook sails wide over Tsin's head.
