As Pems wards him, Hektir rushes forward, his blow catching the hapless guard before he could pull his sword, sending him crumpling to the ground in a spray of blood.
The remaining two guards quickly aim their crossbows and fire, bolts flying far wide in their haste.
Suddenly, though, the noise of battle is split by a roar -- "SURPRISE!" -- and a troll with blue-green skin rushes out of one of the kennels and lunges toward Quinn, swinging a huge battleaxe!
The blade catches the surprised cleric in the head, but he's able to duck at the very last moment, turning what could have been a fatal cut into merely a bloody scalp wound that nonetheless leaves his head rining. 7 hp

Malavarius holds one hand out and bounces his eyebrows in surprise as a swirling ball of fire appears, hovering over his upturned palm. "Ha! It's working! Would you look at that? Ha ha!" He brings his other hand over it and begins to press his hands together, compressing the flaming orb. As the orb shrinks, the troll's flesh begins to take on more and more of a subtle, reddish hue.
As Malavarius' hands come together and the orb vanishes, a loud pop can be heard from troll as its flesh begins to blister and glow red, as if a fire burned beneath its pebbly skin.

should the troll have made a second reflex save due to touch of chaos? also, wouldn't both claws miss due to only hitting 14 and 13? and if Pems stepped back and the troll shifted back, then would Quinn take the 9 points of damage from the bite as Pems is now 15' from it?
