Yeah I had you all going into that room because you were interested in the chests, before it got sidetracked back to the stones. So a little fudging pseudo retroactive, but no worries, you are now all back in the treasure hall moving towards the chests after scoping the standing stones.

Quassine is carefully checking the floor, the others are somewhat close behind but not breathing down his neck....much.

I made a crap ton of perception rolls in an earlier post and none of them turned up any traps

Quassine and the group approach closer to the chests and everyone can see the treasure on the floor near them and the glow from the chests themselves, so enticing...

As Quassine steps closer kneeling down to the floor to inspect for trip wires, pressure plates, pits and other trap shenanigans, he sees from the corner of his eye, the chests morph ever so slightly and in slow motion in his mind he sees several amorphous pseudopods stretch towards him, extending from the chests.

In their excitement to attack Quassine one of the pseudopods falls short missing entirely, the other bounces off of Quassine's force armor.

Edit: Forgot to mention the other two chests scoot forward lumbering on some sort of pseudopod 'foot'

They do have reach, the other two moved, but I hadn't put it in the post. I edited my post but the forums ate it. Should all be clear now.

When she is done there is a cacophony of sound, tons of glass bursting, wood splintering and stone being crushed. The location is centered on top of the chests. With so many enemies she figures it's better to hit them all rather than attack them one at a time.

Ok good I see that Goliath took his action, I had moved him and was going to explain that he would delay his initiative waiting for Xanya to step up so that he could also, as he was too far away to fight. I had moved the tokens on the map but never ended up posting his action. The only real change is that he would go after Xanya now in the initiative order, everything else works out fine.

Goliath pauses briefly, waiting for Xanya, who attempts to cast her spell.

Attack of Opportunity against Xanya: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22 - hit

Despite, Ikik's assistance, the chest creature is able to slam Xanya with its pseudopod. The powerful appendage strikes hard, and serrated and pointed adaptations on the pseudopod inflict a mix of bludgeon, slashing and piercing damage. In addition the pseudpod contains a corrosive adhesive.

Damage to Xanya: 2d6 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 + (5, 2) = 20 -1 for DR

13 damage from the pseudopod -1 DR = 12. Then it also does 7 acid damage.

The adhesive pseupod sticks fast to Xanya as she tries to cast through the spelll but fails. Xanya is automatically grappled.

Xanya's spell is disrupted and she rages in fury. Cryxial springs to action as the long pseudopod holds fast his rider.

All of Cryxial's claws and bite attempts are unable to penetrate the thick hide of the chest creature.

There is some slight mess here with Xanya grappled and Cryxial moving up 5'. Technically Xanya cannot move as she is grappled, despite being mounted. Rather than deal with mounted checks and dismounting and rolling around on the floor, and other messiness in this specific case/round, I will just say that the creature allows Xanya to move with Cryxial as it shortens its pseudopod to adjust for the move.

Goliath moves up since the way is clear and strikes at the creature. His sword sinks deep into the monster, slicing a gash into it.

Reflex save Goliath DC 17: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Goliath finds his weapon stuck fast in the creature's adhesive coating and is unable to remove it. ( A DC 17 Str check next round will allow you to pull it off. A Str check is a standard action. ) [ooc]You would be unable to take your second attack, which missed in any event.

Quassine steps away and attempts to cast a protective spell. The same chest that smashed and grabbed Xanya' lashes out with a second pseudopod (second attack of opportunity) and tries to hit Quassine.

Chest # 1AoO #2, vs Quassine, pre shield AC 22: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 - miss

Luckily the tentacle misses and Quassine completes his spell and readies to fight.

Chest #1 continues to batter the grappled Xanya and Chest #2 hammers at Cryxial. -4 to dex due to being grappled

Chests #3 and 4 scoot forward about 5' and then attempt to batter Quassine and Goliath.

Kiki tries to move into position using the walls and ceiling to climb up and towards the chests. She sees the reach that they have with their pseudopods and the damage and corrosive adhesive abilities.

The ceilings are maybe about 12' high in in here, barely enough for Goliath. Kiki can cling to the ceilings and be 'just' out of range of the attacks, but of course unable to attack in return without entering the chests' squares as being tiny. Also, not sure what you want to do given the results of the attacks. Xanya and Cryxial may be unconscious if I didn't miss something? Kiki advise where you wish to move, for now you are are above Chest #1 on the ceiling.

Quassine first attack on the mimic is a punch followed by an elbow, quickly striking his target with stone breaking hits, then quickly resets making sure not to leave himself open.

"Nooo, Cryxial!" Xanya shouts out as her mount falls beneath her, heedless of the heavy damage she has suffered. "Save.. Yourself.. I'll.. Be.. Back..." He croaks out before collapsing in a heap.

Xanya pulls out a bottle from her alchemical reagents and pours it over the limb connecting her to the chest. There is a loud sizzling noise as the alcohol in the bottle reacts to the adhesive and she slips out of the grasp of the chest. She waits for a split second for Goliath to move away from the chests then move after him then stabs out at the creature that Quassine punched twice.

Delay action until after Goliath then use a hero point to escape the grapple, 5 foot step after Goliath and finally attack the chest I assume Quassine hit twice. If he did not hit it Xanya will attack the chest Goliath hit earlier. Uh, I got confused about the turn order sorry, but not like it matters as I missed anyway...

Goliath steps back, preparing to cast his spell (Assuming still holding on to your stuck sword). His spell goes off successfully.

Xanya fumbles in her alchemical pack to pull forth a vial of distilled alcohol in a flash of insight. Move action to retrive the vial, normally this would also provoke an AoO from all the mimics to retrieve this item, but since it was a hero point, CaveToad is feeling benevolent and won't have them all attack. Extra standard action paid for by hero point to apply it and escape the grapple

Pouring the alcohol dissolves the adhesive and allows Xanya to slip out of its grasp. You can attack but also cannot take a 5' step in addition since you did not do a full round action and you have no other moves left.

She stabs the creature with her lance, driving deep. The mimic squeaks and chitters in pain.

The adhesive glue immediately gloops around her lance, but she reacts quickly, yanking it swiftly back before it gets stuck like Goliath's sword.

Quassine leaps into the fray and pummels the mimic chest in front of him. He hammers it hard, striking twice, but to his horror, his elbow strikes stick into the adhesive slime that cover the creatures.

If Xanya didn't get to move she should still be on top of Cryxial... Still, I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to 5 foot step as discussed in the discussion thread. Xanya did no other actual movement, just retrieving the alcohol. As for attacking the creatures, I think doing so in melee is pretty crazy. Even if they weren't already stronger than us we need to make a ref DC 17 check every time we hit them or be permanently grappled. Moving back and throwing stuff at them or flying/skittering along the roof to summon things could also work.

Thanks for the generous use of the "special" hero point by the way.

As the chest continues to squeeze Cryxial all of a sudden there is something like a horrible ripping sound and at the same time Cryxial's remains seem to go blurry before disappearing entirely. "Cryxial! No, my mind is split in half. I can't wait to get you back!" Xanya utters in horror.

She throws a glance over to Quassine caught in a bind. "Argh, I hate it when you are right Quassine! Staying back and hitting them from afar with our new javelins might be our only option." With that she dodges out of the way of the chests and scoots directly away from the group of chests.

Withdraw action. I know Xanya is crazy and enjoys pain, but she is still smart and not suicidal...

@Kiki: Yes you can still do it. But it doesn't take effect until the start of your next turn. The casting time is one whole turn. Round 1 you move to the roof. Round 2 you spend your whole turn casting and then at the start of your turn 3 it takes effect (though you can still take whatever actions you want on round 3). It doesn't help that you are actually after the mimics in initiative. Though you are probably the one in our party that is best of given the relatively safety of the roof...

Didn't see the updated stats. I go by what's on the sheets, hopefully people update the stat block when buffed. I try to remember what spells are up and who has what bonuses, but can't catch them all. If he was buffed with mage armor, just ignore the damage.

Xanya withdraws safely from battle, her skin and clothing torn to shreds from the wicked pseudopods and its corrosive acid. Large oozing lesions are all over her body.

Goliath I moved your token up 5'.

Quassine, having seen Xanya put use her alchemical reagents to good use, follows suit, and pulls out a stoppered vial of alcohol, fumbling with it as he is stuck to the chest, but manages to pour its contents on the sticky glue, freeing himself and stepping back a bit.

Kiki completes her summon spell and the eagle appears. You can choose where it goes now since things have changed a bit since last round. Take your attacks for it, and then Kiki still gets her actions for round 3 as well.

Two panache back right? Both crit and taking it down. Now it's the mimic's turn though... Kiki is after them anyway. Does noone else except Xanya have the knowledges to try to identify the creatures? Movement is rather awkward yeah. Goliath takes a lot of space and it doesn't take much for someone to block him, like Quassine's current position.

Mimic #2 scoots forward and attacks Goliath.

After battling these creatures for a moment, Quassine remembers reading about them, "Ok brothers and sisters, these are mutated mimics we are fighting. It is obvious by now, it is better to use range. I hope they don't have the fly mutation or the pit idea is not going to work?! They are immune to acid and the non-flying ones move slow while the flying ones can move slightly faster than an average humanoid but they are clumsy.

Mimic 2 just took 18 points while I belive Mimic 4 has taken only 16 since Quassine's second attack got it's damage reduced by 2 due to being grappled. Also, with a 20 check you would only get to know a bit information, not the full statblock I believe, though it depends on how CT rules things. That immunity to acid is a bummer though...

Yeah I get a panache for dropping it as well, but I didn't assume I did that. :) So gained 2 burnt 1, Still at 4 and one mimic down. CT would you prefer we roll the saves? I haven't been I'm good either way. I will let you continue to roll unless you say otherwise. Mimic 2 has 18 damage from my riposte. I'm focusing on it. You guys bring down 4.

Punch 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Damage 1: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Damage 2: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19

Parry:

Parry 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Riposte: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
