Kixzik |
Kixzik has misgivings. But he's willing to let Seif take the lead to have his sidekick returned to him.
MiniGM |
working on the assumption Zephyr agrees.
Give me your word that you will work to this end and allow us to destroy this plane.
assuming this is given Churley is raised and restored. everyone gains a level. Let me know what you plan to take a level in. As long as it makes sense with your play style so far it is fine. Ie no barbarian for Zephyr
Kixzik |
Alchemist!
Kixzik quietly wipes away a tear when Churley sits up.
Ah, yes, that must have been a terrible memory. But fortunately we don't have to worry about that. The good news is that we're now committed to...freeing...everyone on this artificial plane to allow the Proteans escape.
He'll take out his notebook and begin writing notes.
Unfortunately despite our explorations we're no closer to determining what is causing the plane to unravel or how to exit.
Churley |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
But seeing that nobody understands Shoanti, he resumes his pidgin.
"Churley think plane broke when bad fire guy left. "
Kixzik |
Kixzik will peer suspiciously at Churley's long Shoanti statement.
Yes, yes that's the underlying event - but what is it about their departure that resulted in the plane's destabilization? Was it their passage out of the plane and the inherent magical energy interacting with the spell allowing passage into and out of Kakishon, did the plane somehow adapt to their presence and is unable to adapt to their absence? Perhaps it was merely the strain on the magical scroll that from the passage of so many beings itself, you see?
Excuse me, I know we should have asked more about this before but did Nex and his guests have a standard exit point that you're aware of? The Pleasure Palace seems to have been the primary retreat, but that and The other islands we've visited have brought us no closer to our goal of discovering the secret of departure.
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
"I give you my word that I will find a way for you to escape this place - preferably without destroying the plane, but if there is no other option, then I guess that will have to do..."
After all, we want Churley back...
Kixzik |
Kixzik is done with leveling and updated.
Kixzik is still scribbling in his notes.
Indeed...EUREKA! The Ignan language actually shares a common base with the Auran language! Instead of an emphasis on sibilant sounds, it increases inflection on hard consonants, to mimic the sound of flame crackling!
MiniGM |
There is one more thing. One of our number has been captured by Oberkh, rescue him and we shall reward you further.
When you arrive you will be at the entrance of their lair, the Golden Bowl. Descend through tis depths and destroy them.
The Proteans allow you to use their teleportation pool again and this time you emerge on the island which houses the Shaitan.
They give you 2 vials of Soften Stone and Earth
The proteans inform you that they plan to pass the word to those at the Brass Dome and Pleasure Palace of your decision to oppose Jhavul and the Shaitan.
The world shifts and you all emerge in a sunny island near a small structure with a ramp descending into a crater filled with golden dust
The stone platform that hangs over the edge of the crater is
of polished granite, its surface inscribed with faint geometric
patterns. Partially eroded statues of a humanoid figure stand
atop the open area, while just to the north a colonnade supports
a stone roof that provides shade. A stone ramp leads down from
the platform into the dusty crater to the south.
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
Okay, I remember the Pleasure Palace, but what was the Brass Dome?
Seif-al-Din casts a few spells (Endure Elements and Delay Poison), and cautiously begins to move forward, ready to shoot at whatever shows itself...
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
"Alright people! We have a 'simple' elimination/extraction mission here. Eliminate all opposition, and retrieve the prisoner. What could possibly go wrong?"
Yes, I know that I am deliberately tempting fate with that comment - but I thought that it was appropriate ;-)
Kixzik |
Perhaps these Shaitan have a library.
Kixzik will continue to write.
Say, Churley - Shoanti's similarity to Varisian is striking. I was taking notes earlier, but I'm certain with more examples I can derive the nature of your language as well.
Churley |
"Curley think it nice and simple. Churley think that as likely as Churley flies by waving arms. "
and in
Kixzik |
In the protean realm this happens?
Time?
MiniGM |
no there is an easy explanation but nobody did anything but chat, so no one got any knowledge. I expect some perceptions and the like to happen now
That is in correct, perhaps your companions can answer it
Two creatures stand at the top of the stairs, that had not been there a moment before, though they could have just been standing to the side
Kixzik |
Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37
Upon seeing the figures Kixzik will hurredly prepare himself for full-on combat.
Then he'll turn to Zephyr. For the gods sake, don't touch anything!
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35.
Hmmm... Time was my first guess... but there is another option...
Seif-al-Din ponders for a moment.
"Sand?", he says doubtfully.
My third option is dust, but it looks like we each only get one guess...
Kixzik |
How does sand help people see? Although I don't see how time does either. I thought about water?
Kixzik |
:P
MiniGM |
The sphinx smiles widely, now that everyone can see and it is apparent what she is, she claps her paws together and begins to move aside when the other creature, a Shaintan you think speaks
“You’ve had your fun, Zulfiqar. Need I remind you that you
serve Obherak now, not the ridiculous tongue-twisting
traditions of your kind?”
you may make any free actions you like but nothing more
Kixzik |
So sand wasn't the answer either?
Kixzik |
Oy vey.
MiniGM |
Up on the top of the platform the sphinx and the woman begin to fight, while that happens 5 gargoyles animate and charge
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 hits Zephyr for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 hits Kix for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20miss
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17miss
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 miss
Go Basic map is up
Churley |
Churley will start chucking his starknife at the adjacent gargoyle.
deadly aim, close quarters thrower,

Wow, I am rolling up a storm. Guess being dead makes you a bit rusty.
Zephyr Jeggare |
Zephyr cries out in surprise and pain as she’s painfully scratched by the monstrous guards. She retreats a step and chants a spell imbuing her protective familiar with polymorphic magic. As the nycar hops down from her shoulder it swiftly transforms into a mighty bear.
Stepping back and casting polymorph familiar.
Claw: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Kixzik |
Can't check map at work, will check and move this afternoon.
Seif-al-Din ibn-Subhi |
Seif-al-Din steps back from the gargoyle threatening him, and unleashes a hail of arrows!
Starting on #3, then shifting to #5 when it goes down.
+1 Adaptive Mighty [+2] Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 14 + 2 = 27, for 2d8 + 22 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 22 + 2 = 31 damage.

Kixzik |
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (18) + 22 = 40 to identify weakness/immunities.
Presuming they're not immune...
Kixzik will take a move next to Seif and drop a stink bomb on 3. He'll exclude his companion's squares from the effect.
Attack vs. AC 5: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29 Fortitude Save DC 21 or nauseated for 1d4 + 1 rounds once they leave the cloud and while in the cloud. Cloud now persists for 4 rounds!
Damage (Stink Bomb): 4d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 4) + 9 = 24
