Well as for arcane power I MADE my choice for Agatha. I simply like her character write up better than Icabod's. But since she has been removed from the choices I'll still go with Valtyra.
I only dropped Agatha because I was trying to be accommodating so a decision could be made quickly as I figured we would have our two character's at that point. I did not expect another round of choices.

Varrel |

Even if we go by original votes,
Icabaod had 2 to Agatha's one.
All good now. Megan said she'd take all 3.
Which is cool cause we won't need a replacement if someone drops.
And now we have heaps of Divine Magic.
Megs will have to up the challenges a bit.
:
As for familiars Megan, if wanted to just purchase/find a Rhamphorhynchus
They are available as a standard familiar and were introduced in the Smugglers Shiv APP.
I figured maybe they'd be for sale from the Acadamae for apprentice mages or perhaps on the docks from sailors from that area.

Varrel |

Sorry. There are 4 applicants.
We need to cull one of Gronk, Icabod or Alyta
I am only assuming with
Una waiting to vote (but had previously voting Icabod)
My vote for Icabod
Ashe previously voted for the oracle.
If Shakhan continues to abstain, then Gronk is out.
If Shakan votes for Gronk
then all 3 have 1 and Una could choose to vote one out?

Varrel |

Ush... why do you always make me decide? And it was just a suggestion since Megan wasn't sure. :P
Kalya, you're welcome to voice your opinion before I make the final judgment.
That's why we elected Una party leader ;)

Gronk de'Morcaine |

Varrel, never mind. Just ignore the PM I sent. I was just being stupid.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I is here. Thanks for voting me onto the island.
Char is pretty much up to snuff.
Just need to do up the prepared spell lists. I will have that complete fairly early in the morning.
I haven't quite spent all gold. So if something is known to be needed, just holler at me.

OK. That's settled then. Welcome to the new members of the team, I hope you will have as much fun as I am having with this game, and thank you for joining us.
So, let me bring the three of you in: -
Kayla: you get a summons from the Archpriest at the Sanctury of Shelyn. She's sitting playing a sad minor-key tune on a lute, heart-wrenching in beautiful sadness. She tells you that word has been brought to all religious houses by the Korvosan Guard that a dire plague threatens the city, and you are tasked with assisting the team that the Guard commander, Field Marshal Kroft, has hired to lead the defence, as they are apparently a little light on divine assistance.
"Bring the beauty and harmony of Shelyn to this task," she says, presenting you with a specially cut-down glaive suited to your stature. "Go with the Guardsman to see Field Marshal Kroft, then act as you see fit." The Guardsman escorts you to the Citadel where (I hope!) the party will soon arrive.
Ichabod: you have most recently been working as a garden labourer at the Sactuary of Shelyn, and have grown quite fond of that sweet little halfling cleric, Kayla Adrianas, who always has a word and a smile for you. When you see her walking out of the sanctuary precinct, grim-faced and escorted by a Korvosan Guardsman, you hasten to ask her what's amiss. She explains about the threat of plague and asks you to accompany her, and you do. [Please excuse 'god-modding' here...]
Gronk: As the most senior cleric of the rather disorganised cult of Groetus in Korvosa, you receive the same message as every religion in town has: from Field Marshal Kroft informing you of the threat of a dire plague, that she has formed a task force to deal with it and would appreciate every assistance from the city's religious community. You decide to pitch in personally, and go to the Citadel to offer your assistance...
Everyone OK with that? I don't normally railroad people like this, but it's the best way to get the new members of the team involved as quickly as possible!

Gronk de'Morcaine |

If the city or marshal can't or won't provide, it seems like our best bet is to buy scrolls of water breating. Standard price of a 3rd level scroll is 375 gps. Don't know if you guys have contacts or the bargaining skills to get cheaper. Gronk certainly does not have those skills. Grank can donate 740 gps to buying scrolls.
Gronk can prepare 2 castings and since the group is 7 by my count, that means we need 5 castings if everyone is going for a swim. The scrolls will last for 10 hours at minimum caster level.
Something to help people move around underwater would also be useful.

Phaedra Valerius |

Kayla will buy a couple of the needed scrolls.
I've been scanning about, trying to find something to help us move. No luck finding anything we can afford yet though. Freedom of movement would have been great, but it's a 4th level spell.

Asherick Whiteplume |

Going to work now. Will be back at 10:30 PM EST. I will comment and post a reply then.
Read Water Breathing closely.. it affects more than one person at a time, or at least it DID in 3.5 D&D.

Kayla Adrianas |

Well, it can affect more than one person at a time, but that is by splitting up the duration of the spell.
Water Breathing
School transmutation; Level cleric 3, druid 3, sorcerer/wizard 3
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M/DF (short reed or piece of straw)
Range touch
Target living creatures touched
Duration 2 hours/level; see text
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
The transmuted creatures can breathe water freely. Divide the duration evenly among all the creatures you touch. The spell does not make creatures unable to breathe air.
Do we have any idea of the depth of the sunken ship and how long it may take to swim down to it? One person per cast would be a bit excessive though, perhaps two per cast for 5 hours each then?

Gronk de'Morcaine |

Wow, ok I totally missed that you can divide it up. That is much better.
Since I can cast it 2 times a day, that will give us almost 3 hours a person each day.
So we could hire a fisherman to take us out there and sit for a few hours to pick us up when done. Fishing isn't a high profit margin business so it shouldn't cost that much hire.
If the bottom is solid enough and not obstructed, you guys could just carry rocks and walk around on the bottom.
I can also have 1 fly and 1 levitate. So I could help tow people to the wreck or back to the surface when complete.
I could also summon aquatic creatures, but I have no way to communicate specific requests to them.
Unless...
Megan, another rules question. ( I'll try not to make too many odd requests. ) The SRD lists some alternate creatures for the summon monster spells. One of those is merfolk for summon monster II. Are you allowing that? That we could communicate with.

Varrel |

I'm guessing maybe yes.
Megan is generally pretty sweet with anything paizo as long as you post the reference.
How long would your Norfolk be around, .SM does not last long.
Swim is not an issue for Varrel (at least I don't think so, +11 is pretty good. Gotta read the underwater rules.)
We couldn't speak to each other. Anyone got telepathy? We could use majenko.
Can we cast?

Varrel |

I actually didn't invest heavily, just 1point(+3class+3str) the extra comes from my flight hex (+4racial)
Since y'know, a witch is lighter than a duck.
(Anyone got the reference?)

Gronk de'Morcaine |

Best movie EVER ! ! !
And no not long. The merfolk would only be there for 5 rounds. But that might be long enough for something that actually lives in the water to tow us to the wreck. Or at least tow us to where we could sink down onto the wreck. Or pinpoint the wreck in murky weed filled water (depending upon what the bottom is like).
Not saying this is ideal though. I don't really want to burn through all my spells just getting there. But it might be necessary. I guess it really doesn't say it, but I had always assumed that if you can breath under water you can speak and cast spells under water. hmm... I guess I might have to prep a few castings of Air Bubble also. But it only lasts 5 minutes.
This is the first character in years that I didn't put a single point into swim. I thought with feather fall, levitate, and fly that it wasn't necesary. Shows what I get for thinking. =)

Asherick Whiteplume |

Ah. I see you have all discussed the Water breathing spell in depth. For underwater combat... yes slashing and blunt weapons will be useless.. a hefty -4 penalty to hit with them minimum! But piecing weapons should work just fine. Bows are useless but a crossbow should work just fine.

Varrel |

What we need to ask for:
Ring of swimming. Cost $2500. Gives wearer +5 circumstance to swim checks.
Swim fins.Cost 1SP. Gives wearer +10feet to swim speed, but reduces land speed to 5 feet. 5rounds to don.
Ashe (the budding Alchemist ) might know about:
Air crystals? 50.gp 1min breathable air.

Asherick Whiteplume |

Hmm.. never thought of swim fins... where are those specifically? I think I'll have Ashe buy a set of those. In his Full Armor his swim check is a +2 not using a shield {which I'll probably leave behind} but a +10'ft move would be great and make him not need to roll very high to move at least in a slow rate!
Ashe has only one Air crystal on his person. But yes he could make more... though such would take time. Time we do not have. But indeed requesting one for each of use would be prudent. Though with a cleric with the spell Water Breathing we should be ok. Other wise minimum we need two scrolls of Water Breathing.

Asherick Whiteplume |

Underwater crossbow? Where is that listed! lol! Didn't know about those either!

Una Therlmagne |

It's a merfolk item from the Advanced Race Guide. Sweet. Only 100 gp. I'll make it masterwork, replace my own (since it functions above water as a normal heavy crossbow), for free since we're getting reimbursed. And sell the old one for a little extra cash.
Net gain: +175 gp.
Remember guys, we're being reimbursed. Which means, don't spend more than you have, but you get it for free. So don't go overboard with shopping. We'll go overboard a little later on.
Does anyone remember if shock or shocking burst weapons function differently underwater? I thought they did, but I can't find any reference to it in underwater combat. If they do, I might pick up a few bolts somewhere.

Asherick Whiteplume |

Ah, Found the swim fins. I'll get those at the least.

Gronk de'Morcaine |

I was sure I had seen it but couldn't find it clarified. So I put in a question to the rules lawyers.
Water Breathing Spell
Inital responses indicate that water breathing allows normal communication and spell casting.
Gronk will NOT be taking his magic armor, shield, or cloak into the deep. He will rely on instant armor spell, dagger, and other spells for attack and defense. Guess I will buy a short spear.
Since we are getting reimbursed, I'll buy 2 scrolls of water breathing to use before we jump in and I will have 1 prep'd incase of trouble.
You folks (especially with low swim skill) may want a potion(s) of fly, levitate, or at least touch of the sea to help you move around down there.

Varrel |

Buying swim fins.
Looking through the Magus spells. Anyone think anything particularly useful besides alter self?

Asherick Whiteplume |

To note folks... new players included, Ashe spoke to Varrel asking his company... does not mean he did not want anyone else to come along if the new players wanted to tag along. I can't modify my previous post to make that clearer.
I had Ashe speak of all the places he wanted to go to just so people had a chance to tag along if they so chose to as a means to get them introduced to the various npc's the party has already met and open the floor to general RP as we travel the city.
Sorry I did not make that clearer.

Varrel |

Hope no one has a drama with me not buying my own potion of water breathing. Seeing as I only envision and hour or two down there I figured gronk could cast it. If it's an issue, let me know and I'll have to sell my bow.
Btw. Loving the fact posting has picked up so quickly again. Hopefully it can be maintained.

Asherick Whiteplume |

At work post agin tonight. 10:30 EST.
