They got the GM boons out pretty quickly. I suppose they in order to create a raffle for the players they need to organize all the numbers somehow but it still seems like it is taking longer than it should.

EndlessForms |

I've only been to a couple live Convention PFS games and haven't seen any boons handed out. How common are they at live events?
Really depends on the Con and how they do things. Most cons do 'play two games, get a boon' but at our local con we printed out more than we needed so after everyone had claimed their boons from playing we started raffling them off at the end and almost everyone walked away with at least one boon.

GM Tektite |

If you're up for it Gerald, run a game next Gameday and you should get a GM boon. This time it was either Undine or Ifrit as far as I can tell. I got an Ifrit. Really want a Sylph though.
It was Ifrit, the Fall GM, only. Undine is the Winter GM Boon, but since they asked for boon support in the fall, they got the fall boon. I originally thought it was going to be the winter boon, but once we got them, I realized my error.

As far as I know, the thing that is slowing them down for getting the player's Boons out is that because the way things where reported (DM's know what I mean), they did not get all of the Player's info, and particularly emails.
That is supposed to be one of the big changes for next Game Day.

So, I was having a idea I was thinking about testing. I found out that (for those of you I have run for in the past) for the Google Drawings I use for maps has a Chat Option. I was thinking about utilizing that (and Paizo for dice rolling) to run a sort of mixture of PbP and VTT game. Sort of PbP scenario in one sitting, where most on the interaction is through the chat, and hopefully the game could start and finish within say 3-5 hours, assuming people could all get on for that long at the same time.
Assuming that there where enough people, and a reasonable time, and it was something happening (it's just an idea at this point), etc. . ., would anyone be interested in trying this out?
I'm going to talk a little bit about it over on my Sanctuary thread, too, just thought I would mention it here to, as I will one day become a lot more active here, (I keep telling myself).

No problem, like I said, its just an idea at this point. Not even sure it would work. Sort of an interest check for the possibility.
On a side note, I was thinking that nearly all of the communication would be handled in the chat, and just using the paizo boards to post dice rolls, character profiles, and links to maps and sites. So, if you could trust others to move you around on the map and type fairly fast, it could still work, maybe.

EndlessForms |

It might be hard for me to have that long of a span available at one time and I've also played so many that I don't have much available. I might make a suggestion though: Roll20 has a dice-roller built into the chat system and then the map is right there too. The only problem is some people have trouble opening it (although that is usually from work computers and I can't imagine people would be doing this at work). I use Chrome and I've never had an issue with Roll20.

EndlessForms |

Beckett, I've considered it myself a few times, but I have a hard time committing to a stretch of time like that.
Alternately, I thought about doing this for perhaps an hour at a time maybe a couple times a week to blast through combats or get through sections of a PbP quicker.
I think this would be the way to do it and that's something I could commit to. Scheduling would be the most difficult part but if everyone agreed to just an hour each night for a few nights you could knock a lot out, especially if you used regular PbP on the in-between days.
I've actually had PbPs jump forward quickly this way when players and GM were all on at the same time by coincidence. It works pretty well.

![]() |

Well, that's also a possibility.
I had considered Roll20 as well, and I am still n the fence about it. If it turns out I can use it while deployed, I'll drop a yearly subscription, and go that route, too.
I don't know, I have a few things I want to run, but until I can get Frozen Fingers finished (taking a very long time), I am not going to take another thing on, and more likely than not, will be a normal PbP.

The downside to roll20 is that a subscription is needed for access from mobile, and a larger-than-expected number of people are actually dependant on that. Overcoming that border, its a golden medium.

I have a feeling that it's because either A.) they already have the info for the player/DM that did, or B.) that person already got a Boon from another game. It could also be another reason.
[ooc]<Actually, as I have gotten at least 2, B.) is not correct.>

DM Rah |

Hey everyone I have a question regarding organized Convention PFS games. I have a friend attending Orccon in Los Angeles this weekend and the organizers for the PFS games there are not letting him sign up pregen characters in higher tier scenarios. He rarely gets to play PFS and has 1 character that is level 2, but enjoys the system and is getting discriminated against for basically being a new player.
Is this is ok for the organizers to do? Seems to me the PFS system, and Paizo, would not allow this kind of exclusive behavior.

hustonj |
Are they refusing to reserve a seat for a pregen, or are they turning him away form a table that's going to run with an empty seat?
The difference is that in the first case he could still get to play with a pregen, but they are trying to seat players with characters at the target levels already FIRST.
Don't just look at what they are doing, think about why you might want to do it in their place. They are trying to cater to the existing player base AND the new player base, by ensuring that there are level appropriate seats for both groups, right?

DM Rah |

It's not about saving seats. He was told they aren't accepting higher level pregens because they fear players might treat them as disposable.
Touching on that topic, I joined him with two other friends last year at this Con and we played Bonekeep II. The 4 of us all played pregens (much to the dismay of the organizers, who tried to convince us not to play) yet we did much better than the two other players with us playing personal characters.
Pregens exist for PFS to open the system up for more players to participate. Conventions often have support from Paizo, are the best place to expand interest, and denying players shouldn't be an option there.

Pathmaker |

Isn't that the point of pregens? - Someone who is interested in playing, but doesn't have a character? Especially at payed conventions with PF sanctioned games with PF registered player. I'd be pissed.
Sounds hokey to me, even with some made up rules about seating. I would probably try to contact the local venture captain to get his opinion.

Hey Rah thought i check in and see what games you will be running for next Gamesday.

![]() |

anyone here?

EndlessForms |

(psstt-you're only watching half of the campaign, there's plenty of activity over on the gameplay thread)

![]() |

"Thornkeep, eh? It will be the Grandest Time for all!"
Damn, and I'm gonna miss it. Maybe if you guys do level 3 I can rejoin you.

![]() |

Looks like Forgotten Laboratory is full and ready to go. If the players in that don't want to wait I'll start that now and run Enemy's Enemy and Immortal Conundrum for Gameday 2.
My guy will only be avaible by the end of next week. I was under the impression this would be a gameday 2 run, no?

![]() |

i assumed gameplay was for just that ;)
Rah did you want to gather our group and run something for us?
I am also running a game for gamesday on mythweaver for 3rd level PCs if anyone wanted to join that.

looks like i dont have anyone at the levels your runing, Sark MAY be 3rd but cant say for sure, unless Maaarv 4th level PC drops down to lower for The Frostfur Captives [Levels 1-5] not in any of the tiers.

Signboy77 |

Well, I actually just signed up Maaarv for a Gameday module run by EndlessForms. GM Rah, if you're planning to run Frostfur Captives for the Gameday, feel free to remove Maaarv from the sign-up list - I don't wanna hold things up.

![]() |

Rah looks like Sark will be free instead of Ruby, so will swap out him and you can start the punishment again on his hide, though you will have to swap to something else other than fire as he got 5 resistance now :P

great......
