Possibly surprising to the others, Elbennon is the same way. He joins Kal and feasts upon eggs and fruit. Once he's done eating he will prepare all his gear and wait for the others to come down.

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

After eating Damien is ready to go to a secure location and talk.

Male Half-Orc BBN 1/Fighter 11 (FC)

I thought we had decided to just go to the place where they found Bungo and then the Paladins?

To be clear, no one knows where he was found. Outside the paladin and Varlokkur that is. Bungo was feebleminded at the time, mental stuff like memory was kinda shot xP

Male Half-Orc BBN 1/Fighter 11 (FC)

Let's go talk to the Paladins, maybe they know something. Kal says offhand while he stuffs his face...

Male Drow Noble Synthasist Summoner 7

Agreed. Are we ready then? Bungo stuffs his mouth with the last of his roll, quaffs the rest of his small beer and stands up. The half elven serving wench walking past jumps as if pinched. Bungo winks at her and leaves a generous tip.

Gunslinger 1, HP 10/10, NL-HP 0/10, AC 17, T 14, F13, F +2, R +6, W +2 Init +4, Perc +6

Aldon shakes his head at Bungo's antics, he continues to eat his trail rations as he always preferred it to real food, and he follows the rest of the team out the door.

Elbennon follows them, his eyes peeled for any possible pursuers.

Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

Taking 10 on perception while we go to visit the paladin

Perception=40.

"If anyone sees anything fishy let me know. I memorized see invisibility this morning, but I don't want to cast it for no reason." Elbennon says quietly to his companions as they walk.

You make it to the Tempering Hall without incident. The training school of paladins lies just across the mainstreet to the Seventh Church. You notice less security then you found in the Seventh Church, most likely because no one is foolish enough to try anything around the ever vigilant paladins, in training or not. A single rather old paladin of Iomedae stands outside the entrance, mostly watching the people moving about the street with disinterest.

Knowledge (local) DC 15:

Spells that have no purpose other then to conceal are illegal in Absalom. Invisibility falls into that as such the use of that spell is a crime.

Since we're being watched by the popo is there anything else that we should know about that's illegal? Magic wise I mean, my lowest possible knowledge local is DC 17, taking 10 gives me a 26.

That pretty much covered it magic wise, any overuse of magic outside the earlier stated locations will draw attention but as long as its not an illegal spell it wont be held against you with good reason. For example charm person is not illegal to use against your attacker but using it to get a good deal on a sale is.

Male Drow Noble Synthasist Summoner 7

Taking 10 knowledge local.

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

Do we know the name of the paladin we need to talk to?

No his name was never given to anyone but Ternus.

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

I am sure there were only so many guards/paladins at that place.

I approach the paladin standing outside.

"Excuse me sir, but one of your members was part of a raid, not to long ago. We have been hired to look into the matter. Could you assist me in speaking to him."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30

If my character has a description of any sort I am assuming he would give the description or any other info I might have to help me meet him.

The old paladin looks Damien over for a moment.

"I know who you are, working for Genedair. The one you speak of is Enald. He should be in the 2nd training hall."

His eyes fall over Bungo, his expression does not change but he points to the halfling.

"He is not allowed inside, he will have to wait here."

The Tempering Hall is a school of paladins, everyone is a paladin from the teachers to the students. Granted not all the paladins are from the same god.

Gunslinger 1, HP 10/10, NL-HP 0/10, AC 17, T 14, F13, F +2, R +6, W +2 Init +4, Perc +6

Aldon stands beside Bungo, "I'll wait with Bungo as well, I'd prefer neither of us is alone for too long due to what happened before. Plus I'm not a big fan of paladin's"

Male Drow Noble Synthasist Summoner 7

He must have something against Halflings. I am sure that he can not have anything against me Bluff, using childlike to take 10 on appearing innocent 10+19=29

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

Damien is about to question the paladin about Bungo's denial, but decides that it can wait for later.

He heads inside with the whoever else is coming in, thanking the paladin for the information.

"I will accompany you Damien." Elbennon says, trailing behind the archaeologist and the paladin.

Male Half-Orc BBN 1/Fighter 11 (FC)

Kal stays with Bungo, not wanting to let the little man out of his sight and knowing his abilities do not lie with interacting with most folk, just crushing them.

Those who eneter find their way to a training hall with a small class of paladins in training. Their teacher is the same paladin you saw in court, fully armored with his sword and shield ready. Each student comes up to attack him only to be soundly defeated, a number of suggestions and advice following before the next one comes up.

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

Waiting for a proper time to speak:

"Excuse me sir, but I would like to speak to you about the raid. I was curious about the location of the place, and anything else you may have noticed when you arrived. I would also like to know how you found out where it was."

diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27

edit: did not see the "training" post.

The paladin claps his shield with his longsword. The rest of the class bows and disperses. Without putting away his shield or sword he moves towards the party. You notice its the same paladin from the court room.

"It was not a raid, it was a rescue mission for the halfling. As for its location it was just another abandoned warehouse in the docks, one of many. I was sent by the church to find the halfling, I asked the Varlokkur for aid as they had already captured the rest of you. The Varlokkur used their magic to find him, I simply repaid their aid by supplying my own and ridding the docks of a illegal slave operation."

Sense Motive DC 20:

Enald does not like that he had to rescue Bungo or rather that he was set free.

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

I can roll a 1 make a DC 20.
"Could you tell me where the warehouse is, and I would also like to ask if you arrested anyone or just drove made them run away?"

The paladin shakes his head at Damien.

"Why are you interested in slaver's. You were hired by the church to find those who have been taking people. They have nothing to do with it. The Varlokkur found the halfling and lead me to him. If they were connected to the missing your friend would not have been found at all. Stop wasting time and do your job."

Enald puts away his sword but keeps his shield out. He started walking out of the training hall, it was clear he had nothing more to say. The paladin was not happy.

If your mod is high enough then consider it a auto success. Paladins are not normally talented liars or good at hiding their feelings. ;)

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

"One more thing, it seems as though you have more you want to say about Bungo. I have noticed he was not allowed inside also." I then wait for a response, and I speak loud enough to make sure he heard me, but I don't yell. My tone is one of curiosity.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34

The paladin turns to him with a surprisingly sharp look in his eye.

"If it were not for the word of the head priest I would not have bothered with the halfling. Absalom law, and the role of all churches there in, are held in check by actions rather then intent. Even a novice here can see the evil in him, yet he can not be judged. Absalom law extends as far as our door, had he been let in. Then his fate would fall to our laws not the city's. Regardless such an act would be dishonorable, that is not our way."

He takes a moment.

"I suppose you did not know sense you asked."

Male Human Bard(Archaeologist) 12

"Thanks." says Damien with a smirk on his face.
He then starts to walk out toward the front of the building.

"What has our little friend done?", he thinks to himself.
