Not sure what was in your spoiler, but you rolled minimum damage. Maybe you'll make better progress with more damage. Maybe you can try to escape the bag. Or maybe you could roll away from the noise of the fight or something. Call out for help so we know you're in there. Post your frustration with being stuck in a sack.

Just some suggestions in case you're looking for them.

Or nothing's good too. I have no idea your character's context. Haha.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

You could try attacking it again (you rolled low last time) or trying to cut the ropes binding you and attempting to use Freedom of Movement. Bit of a long shot but it might be worth a try. It doesn't seem like there are many options :/

Even just saying something tho helps the GM know if he needs to wait for someone or not.

HP: 78/93 // AC: 30, t 17, FF 29 // Fort +12, Ref +7, Will +12 // Perception +1 Current spells: Heroism (100 minutes), Shield of Faith (10 minutes), divine power (10 rounds)

Yeah, that's what I'm saying, don't wait on him. So far he's heard "F##! me that's big" and "If you hit me with one of those I'll ram it down your throat."

That doesn't give him a lot to go on.

So until his situation changes, he will just go full defensive each round and wait to listen and gather more information. If he keeps moving/struggling he's going to just draw attention to himself, and he's not sure if that's a good thing yet. He doesn't want to have whatever the big thing is start attacking him while he's trussed up wiggling in a sack like a piece of bait. If something starts attacking him/interacting with him directly then he will try to escape or do something.

Edit: I also kind of missed/didn't realize that he was fully tied up. In my head he was just unconscious in a bag, thus my snark about not being able to tear it. If he's tied up it makes sense it would take more effort than simple damage.

Edit edit: Also I assume I don't have any of my gear or weapons on me, which makes him extremely vulnerable, another reason he's eager to just be ignored for now.

I also just didn't realize that we were waiting on me, since in my mind I wasn't really participating in the combat. I apologize if this post came off as toxic, that wasn't my intent. I don't want to start out here on a bad foot. From now on I will try to be more clear and post something every 24 hours when we're in combat. I didn't really realize that was the expectation either, since none of the other games I'm in come anywhere near that pace. My bad.

Yup, sounds about right. We're super welcoming. Haha.

Also, no worries, Achutla!

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

Hey, you're good, Achutla. I could have been clearer in my last post anyway. It's not some super fancy sack, but yes your arms and legs are tied and generally anything is considered to have an AC of 10 at a minimum, so that was the main thing, that you didn't 'hit' the bag at all. But yes, all your gear is also missing, you're just in plain clothes. If you think your character would just stay still at that point (and you probably wouldn't know if the voices you're hearing are friend or foe) that's perfectly fine.

I also apologize for not making combat expectations clearer beforehand. Once we get up to speed (I realize with the way things are in the world that could be a while) I do generally try to post at least once a day during the week and once on the weekend. Obviously during combat posting is expected a bit more often. If you miss a day, it's not the end of the world, just know that I'll likely be botting you. I try to do what I think's best for your character, but of course it's always preferable if you act for yourself. Glad we're getting to this sooner than later!

-----

Also, yes, it ate some solid food, Talia. Or at least it was trying to when you rudely interrupted it.

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

Also, I should probably note (mostly for Bharaz's sake) that we currently have everyone roll their own saving throws in combat, though I would personally like to change that at some point, for efficiency's sake if nothing else.

HP: 78/93 // AC: 30, t 17, FF 29 // Fort +12, Ref +7, Will +12 // Perception +1 Current spells: Heroism (100 minutes), Shield of Faith (10 minutes), divine power (10 rounds)

No worries on my end, I don't get hurt feelings easily. I am however very blunt and worry that I might accidentally offend people while communicating in writing, so tend to second guess myself around new folks a lot. :P

RE:Item ACs - Sure. I typically run that objects have an AC of 5 (0 Dex is -5 to mod AC) and then hardness. This time, I was imagining a massive lizard warrior just kind of in laying a big burlap sack. My snarkiness couldn't contain itself imagining him trying and being unable to rip it somehow (whatever RAW might say). That was before I realized he was hog tied though. A str check to burst free or an escape artist roll seems more appropriate in this scenario.

Now that he hears all the fighting, he's gonna pass on trying that for the moment.

Part of me missing so much info was dealing with a stressful RL situation which has now resolved itself. So I should have more time to focus on games and not miss as much by skimming posts that I should be reading carefully.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

Just realised we cannot actually teleport out (like we planned) with Achutla since Talia's caster level is 10 - which means she can only teleport herself + three people. I'd need to be Level 12 to Teleport five people.

Elf Bloodrager 10| HP 108/108 | AC27 T15 FF24 | DR 2/- | CMD 29 | F+11 R+7 W+5* | Init +3 | Perc +15 | Spell slots 1st: 2/3 2nd: 2/2 3rd: 2/2 Active buffs: THP: 0; keen edge, shield

That could be an issue, Talia. I don't suppose there's a way to tweak your spell list to include two teleports? You would have known about the issue once Bharaz showed up (because at the moment Talivar is still presumably with us). You could 'port a couple of us, and then take the rest with you. (My understanding of the spell is that you don't have to teleport yourself.)

Otherwise, we'll have to split the party while some go with Talia to heal Makkatat and the rest lay low in Ilizmagorti. Yikes.

Well I can cast dimension door once per day. Would that fix the problem?

Female Human Slayer 10 | HP: 44/74 | AC 30* (T 16, FF 25*) (+2 vs. traps) | CMB: +13 CMD: 27 | F:+11* R:+14* W:+8* (+2 vs. divine, +2 vs. traps, +5 vs. continuing FX) | Init +4 | Perc +15*, SM +12, Bluff +12, Diplomacy +1, Intimidate +5 | Speed 30 ft. | Active Conditions: Barkskin, Shield, Resist Fire

If someone does need to stay behind for a bit, I volunteer Kilarra. She's capable of being on her own, and I'm really busy this week anyway. I don't mind being out of the action for a day or a few of posting.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

No, theres no way to tweak my spell list. Mostly because I'd need three teleports (I do need to teleport myself as its target: you). Even two teleports (if houseruled) wouldn't work as I used both Stoneskin and Persistent Image (as part of our diversion) to get us to this point.

Bharaz, the distance to the kobold camp is too far for you to reach with Dimension Door.

I'll need to Teleport to Makkatat tonight, heal him, then rest and pick you up in the morning. I dont need to take anyone with me when I head back (ie you can still be a full party of four) but I agree its not ideal. It shouldn't result in anyone missing a day or something of posting since its this issue is fixed in the morning but its still annoying.

Its a bit of Murphy's Law tho - theres always something unexpected that comes up during a deadline and this is just one of those times.

Does Achutla remember Makkatat at all from when he was fostered there? Maybe 12 or 13 years ago? If not, is there a kobold who he would remember and who would remember him who might still be alive?

Makkatat was a bit out of it when you first arrived. His memory might be starting to clear...

Thank you for the heads up on the visions, Talia.

Ruel, yes, I'm planning on getting everyone back together in my next gameplay post.

I'm hoping to have that up in the next day or two.

GM before I make my gameplay post is there anything that happens in the morning that I need to react to? Mostly been waiting for the "its morning" scene so I can go from there

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

I’m assuming you just woke up in your room and had your visions. Anything after that is up to you. Hard to say what you might or might not need to react to without knowing what you do next.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

Sweet as just wasn't sure

In case you were wondering, yes, Alayna will be the sixth PC.

(And I did get permission from Talivar's player for his rather dark fate)

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

Technically, Alayna should not be at risk of the Dominate Person since self destructive orders cannot be carried out. I'm assuming the Mantis Kiss has a rider effect that overcomes this or there was some ritual / poison / mythic ability involved in the Dominate Person spell.

I'm assuming that the Dagger is a [Death Effect] otherwise IC Talia would probably just bring Talivar back via Raise Dead / Reincarnate.

It was a cool way of introducing a new character into the party though. It will be neat still having an arcane caster in the party ^_^

If we ever get to the end of the Campaign (and we hit Level 17) I can bring Talivar back via True Resurrection in case he wants to be present for the final battle and get some revenge / happy ending.

Buffs: mage armor, shield Human Sorcerer 10| HP 43/52 | AC 22 T14 FF18 | Resist 5 Electricity and Sonic| CMD 17 | F+7 R+9 W+12* | Init +3 | Perc +12 | Spell slots 1st: 6/8 2nd: 7/8 3rd: 7/7 4th: 4/6 5th: 3/4

Well, the dagger is a reskinned Nine Lives Stealer, which requires finger of death to craft, so it seems like it should be a death effect.

And I understand that the Dominate Person couldn't order her to kill herself as a result of the actual spell. Otherwise, she wouldn't have hesitated and Talia would have come upon two corpses. The Mantis just assumed that they'd beaten down her will enough that she would follow the order anyway (and it was touch-and-go there!).

And I like the idea of bringing Talivar back for the final battle! Hopefully that's a possibility!

Welcome aboard, Alayna!

Also, Talia, all your kudos should go to her or her player as they were responsible for the vision of Alayna today. All the lead up and everything to this was their idea, I mostly just nodded along. They did an excellent job if I do say so myself. :)

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

Aha, agreed they did an utterly amazing job at capturing everything!

GM, can I also get an answer to the following:

"While Talia waits for an answer she roots around for the sealed scroll she had stolen from the Temple and unfurls it carefully, hoping to read what it says after once again checking it for traps."

Still hoping to discover what the sealed scroll is

EDIT

Realised it was actually a sealed letter and not a scroll so apologies for the confusion my post may have caused!

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

Yep, sorry about that, Talia. I remember thinking about it at one point, but with everything happening with Alayna, I suppose it slipped my mind.

Really enjoying y'all's "montage" right now! Everyone else, please feel free to jump in before we transition to talking with Makkatat/Talivar's funeral. Alayna has to work with everyone else as well, of course.

On the other hand, we can just move forward to the funeral if you prefer. I hadn't really thought of a funeral before now, but it would pretty much be up to y'all to plan anyway, so let me know what you plan to do.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

No special plans for the funeral. I think its all of us getting drunk which is about par for the course I think.

Talia will cast Call Spirit though and bring Talivar back to his own funeral. Not really to answer any specific questions, but it probably helps give Alayna some IC closure to not feel guilty over what happened and to have some dialogue with her father if she wants it.

I'm also probably Stone Shaping some rock into a suitable grave for Talivar so its harder for his remains to be stolen or affected. If I get access to Polymorph Any Object, I'll return and turn it into diamond or something so that even if he doesn't want to come back we have a monument to him somewhere.

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

Alrighty, well, let me know what you say to Makkatat. And since the group will be leading the funeral, you can go ahead and 'put it on' whenever you like.

JW - Do we want to handwaive the funeral thing?

Things just seem to be a little quiet lately and I'm just aware that it might not have much meaning for others.

We can probably all get on board with eliminating the slave trade in the city first thing

EDIT

Achutla, something I wanted to check with you. Did you want to visit the remaining lizardfolk tribe on the island at some point? We haven't interacted with them much but I wasn't sure how Achutla felt about the other lizardfolk tribes.

He hasn't really had any interactions with them probably. After he left the Thunderscales he's been almost always on his own, avoiding other people as much as possible while fighting his private war. He wouldn't be opposed to meeting them at some point, but he'd rather kill mantis.

Do you have anything for us on Project Otataral or was that Talivar's creation :)

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

It was Talivar’s creation, but I’m planning on using it still. There are certainly things yet to be discovered (vague and perhaps slightly infuriating comment intended).

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

GM we have an abundance of wood around us (being in a massive forest). Would Talia be able to use that wood to cast Fabricate and effectively craft us our very own Pirate Ship?

Maps | Info | Loot | Talia's Journal

You would need a high craft check in woodworking or something similar, carpentry perhaps. It would probably also require a few different castings to make a full ship, one for the wood, one for the sails (with cloth or whatever base material), and one for all the metal parts of the ship.

Female Aasimar Shaman 10 | HP 80/80| AC15 T11 FF14 | CMD 16 | F+7 R+6 W+14 | Init +5 | Perc +22 | Sense Motive +27

Got it. I'll pencil it in for tomorrow I think, since we need another mode of transportation as Teleport won't really work with our party size. I can use Visualization of the Mind for any Craft checks.

Also its probably going to be the only way to transport a whole lot of slaves really quickly out of the city. Besides, who doesn't like the idea of having their own pirate ship :)
