Hey folks, no update tonight. Should have an update tomorrow.

I'm thinking we break into the Temple tomorrow, get the regenerate spell, and then get back out. While I want to do Klorn it looks like it might take some time to figure out where to ambush him - time Makkatat might not have.

I was thinking that we try and use the rest of today figure out where Klorn will be / might be, then raid the Mantis Temple. We *might* be able to do Klorn immediately we raid the Temple (ie right after each other) but we might be low on resources. We could give it a go though.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Time seems to be of the essence so what ever we do it needs to be quick, this is enemy territory and we are not safe here. Perhaps we should change our disguises before leaving or shortly after. We need to decide how we're planning to leave, do we try the tunnels again or teleport directly away?

If we could eliminate Klorn I'm sure that would help impress the Kano. I'm thinking we should take a leaf out of the Mantis' playbook and attempt to find out where he lives and when he is most vulnerable. He's got to sleep at some time right, and I wonder if he's as paranoid about his personal safety as he should be? The Mantis have everyone running scared after all.

We are, but I don't have a full spell list at present, so I'd rather save the Pagoda for tomorrow since I don't the encounter will be a breeze for us and I'd rather face it at full strength.

Therefore, with half a day up our sleeve, we can track down Klorn's movements (hopefully setting us up to do both tomorrow), and I can probably talk to Jaxira in preparation for our Goldshackle skirmish post Firesinger to see if she would join us or offer assistance in some way.

Sorry guys, been busy lately. Have to work on a response to 2019-nCoV for my boss which is not exactly easy.

I kinda want to chat with Jaxira today at some point. I don't really want to be taking on Sawtooth Keep so I'm kinda 'meh' about visiting it. I'd prefer luring Klorn out or just killing someone easier within the Watch to make contact with the Cult if Klorn's going to take a ton of resources / time to work out. I'd like to kill him but I don't really care enough to attack a fort head on to achieve that goal.

If we could find some street urchins who can give us some idea of the watch's schedule, that would be ideal. Otherwise, I say we move along to the pagoda.

Asking about watch schedules does seem like a decent idea... We could offer money and claim we're starting a 'business' and want to know where and hop often they patrol to make sure it'll be protected.

Agreed taking Klorn out sounds like it's going to be hard and I'm not sure we have the time.

Or here's a wild idea, after we have the scroll (assuming we don't get beaten up too badly) pay somebody to tell the watch people have broken into the pavilion, by which time we are near Sawtooth Keep. My bet is either that gets Klorn or a large number of the watch out. If Klorn is in the open we try to take him out. If not we try our luck in the keep.

Yeah tons could go wrong with that, but who dares wins.

Hmm we could get the scroll, kill a random guard (therefore getting in touch with the Cult), and then rely on using the Goldshackle thing to lure Klorn out? I imagine disrupting the slave trade would be significant enough thing that would get Klorn out and about?

As for here and now we could ask about the watch schedules and I could speak with Jaxira and we could go from there?

GM, there's no morality issues we need to worry about if we kill a Guard right? They are not like, Good aligned individuals that would screw us over a bit? Do we need a Gather Information / Knowledge Local check to find a bad / evil one?

They call themselves the Blood Watch, but they’re essentially just Red Mantis that go by another name. If you’re killing official guards of the Watch, you don’t need to worry about it.

Hi, sorry for the delay. Life hit hard last week for reasons I'd rather not mention on a public forum, so I haven't had time to check in. Also, this coming week I'm moving, so I'm currently buried under a mound of boxes. If I have time to check in over the next week I will, but you'll likely have to skip or bot me. Do the Blood Watch roam alone or in pairs / groups GM? Is it possible for just one of them to be isolated, since we only need to kill one of them.

The Blood Watch always patrol in pairs. You might be able to catch one alone off-duty, but that would require more time to locate one and they also might not be wearing a uniform when off-duty.

So I have a half baked idea, choose a place where we want to ambush the bloodwatch and lure them there. It needs to be:

* A place were two would go without stopping for backup
* Difficult for them to get backup once combat starts

We might be sufficient bait but I wonder if they would just run for backup? So here's a question what would be sufficient bait for a bloodwatch patrol to get them to fall into our trap? Is there a list of public enemies?

I'll roll for Kilarra and Midnight to keep us moving.

Kilarra Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Midnight Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24

Kilarra knows that many of the local gangs are nuisances, but not so much that the Blood Watch are overly concerned by them. However, the Shadow Stalkers and the cult of Norgorber are both considered public enemies. If you were to convincingly dress as one or the other, you could likely lure Blood Watch guards into following you as long as there's only one or two people as bait. The rewards for capturing a Stalker or a cultist are high enough that most members of the Watch would rather not have to share with more people than they have to.

Midnight is able to confirm much of Kilarra's information.

Talia recalls exactly what the Shadow Stalkers looked like that the group encountered earlier. She's confident she can replicate their appearance and mannerisms, assuming her street smarts are as good as her book smarts.

What do they actually do though? Why are they even a threat to the Red Mantis? I can understand the Cult of Norgorber but this group just came out of left field and theres no point setting up a lure by pretending to be them if we don't know what they stand for / do

While much of what they do is a bit mysterious, they’re known to work closely with pirates (which their interactions with Makori would seem to corroborate). They’ve also been known to accept contracts on members of the Blood Watch or other Red Mantis in the city. You know of no other gangs willing to do that. So far, they’ve managed to elude the Mantis by making their operations infrequent, and by maintaining the secrecy of their hideout, which frustrates the Mantis to no end. While they aren’t as high a priority as the cult, the Mantis would like to see the Shadow Stalkers snuffed out.

Well that makes them very interesting all of a sudden. Pretend to be some of them, lead the bloodwatch into an ambush and quite possibly any observers would think they are to blame.

Agreed. Though, I'm wondering if the Shadow Stalkers could be potential allies. Copying them and putting additional heat on them won't be a way to put us in their good graces.

Or they might view us as worthy allies. Hmm. Depends on how they'd view it.

There isn't really any need to be particularly fancy. I can use Assume Appearance, Greater to exactly mimic a Shadow Stalker that we saw / met ages ago and then lure the Blood Watch into an ambush where you all are waiting hidden (probably under stealth / invisibility).

Job done, take the head to Betty, and meet the Cult all in the same night (hopefully). Then we can then move into breaking into the Temple the following night.

I doubt we will be leaving any Blood Watch witnesses around alive to report back that the Shadow Stalker's were in the area (and heck, the Shadow Stalkers might want to 'claim' the kill for status purposes or something idk).

Sounds good, except I'm not particularly stealthy and the Mantis masks can see invisibility. I might be better used to cut off flight by coming in behind them, rather than being at the ambush site.
