Ishah charges into the room to help the beleaguered Yod. She seizes the demon's hind leg in her mouth and rips for all she's worth, but does no apparent damage.
Sari's turn.
Sari
Psst...here's some table talk for you...try Sugar, Yod. It seems to work better with demon bees, maybe it'll work here. I don't know, just a thought I picked up on from the DM talking to himself.
Sari can't believe this. "And this is what I left home for? To battle with stinky canines and stinky men? Ishah, no offense, hon. You are a right fine looking specimen. Now, if only I could find me one of the human variety to match you. I am too much of a girly girl to find much more of this entertaining. I knew I should have taken Aldern up on his offer!"
At the end of her tirade, she flings her hands out and sends two missiles dog-ward. One at each dog.
The dog in front of Cha takes 4 points of damage and the one in front of Yod takes 4 points of damage. She is now down 4 more spell points for a total of 3 points left. This is so NOT good. Anyone...can we get a little help in here? Or are we just to lead lives of quiet desperation? Well, maybe not so quiet..

Indeed.

Sari's missiles batter the monsters. Apparently they're not protected from magical force. The monster facing Orik and Cha finally crumples to the ground in a heap and begins to smolder from within. Wisps of acrid black smoke rise from its corpse.
Orik
Orik steps in with the long blade and takes a massive swipe at the remaining hound but the creature is very quick and dodges away from the blow. It snaps back at the fighter but he's agile enough to knock the attack back with his shield.
DMs rolling crappy tonight. Can't hit even with a flank bonus.
Yod's turn.
Yod Akarn
I'm not thinking Sugar will work on these dog things, you pour sugar on Undead and things like that. As for table talk those of you who have seen her roll know that we are all doomed now that Melissa isn't rolling Eberk's d20. Eberk ran from a fight? That had to be a low roll!
Yod Akarn
Ok I'm going for broke
I'll drop the dagger and pick up the morningstar, if I'm not killed by an AoO I'll attack the remaining dog.
Attack 20+7=27 Dmg 5+7=12 Confirm 11+7=18 Do I get flanking bonus if I'm not part of the flanking?+2 on the confirm if I do. Additional Dmg if a critical 6+7=13.
You guys better hope Eberk comes back soon if I'm dead!!
DM Luke
Damn that was alot of hopeful rolling for naught.
Yod reaches for the larger weapon but the fiend is quick to react and goes for Yod's throat. The half orc is savaged under the monster's wretched jaws and collapses to the ground under the weight of the attack. He is dying.
10 points of damage from another bite wound. Yod is well into the negatives already.
Cha and Ishah.
DM Luke
The happy little ball of fire smacks into the beast's snout causing it to yelp in pain and momentarily catch fire. This room now smells like a demon's burning arse.
A good thing this wasn't someone without damage reduction or she'd have killed them by now.
No doubt.
As the demon dog wheels back and forth between enemies, Ishah jumps onto the monster's back and locks down on the base of its spine - a killing blow in the wild. But this creature's flesh is too hard or too vile for her to sink her jaws into. She slides off her cheated prey and rolls into a low stance.
Sari's turn.
Sari
"This ISN'T happening! That's IT! Kill the damn demon dog and let's get out of here!"
Sari realizes she doesn't have much more to give. She waves the stupid wand because she is too distraught to think about conjuring any magic spell right now.
I save my 3 spell points and cast a missile at the remaining dog. I roll a very average 2, for a total of 3 points of damage. There are 35 charges left in the wand. I plan on using them all on these stupid dogs.
DM Luke
Sari's missile flies true battering the enemy, yet still it comes on, far beyond the punishment threshold of any normal dog.
Shal
Oh so close... failed to confirm a critical with a longbow (a triple damage weapon).
A now recomposed Shal seeks a shot in the scrum. Yod and Cha's low profile help as she slides up the right flank of the party and is lost among the pillars. Her perfectly placed shot skips off the beast, caroming into the crimson shadows beyond.
"Damned braised demon flesh!" she curses.
DM Luke
The beast leaps onto Yod's supine form as Cha crouches there. It then mauls the druid.
I confirm a critical on a 16, Chris. If that stands I deal 13 hp of damage from a bite wound. You're lucky my damage rolls sucked.
It's time for Yod's bleeding! Roll d10 please. Then Cha and Ishah.
DM Luke
Cha's spell completes and the magical healing energies wash over him, mending his wound. Ishah is ape-s!#% crazy mad at not only being ineffective, but essentially being ignored by the other dog. She catches a hind leg and latches on for all she's worth, but her only reward is a black sooty tongue.
Your turn, my dear.
Sari
Sari takes a step forward into the doorway and shakes the wand savagely at the dog. A missile leaps out of the end and winds its way toward the smoking dog.
I roll a freakin' 1 for a total of 2 points of damage. It's like being pecked to death by a very weak and frail chicken. There are 34 charges left in the damn thing. Anyone got any better ideas?
DM Luke
The beast looks up at the most consistent source of damage and snarls, tongue lolling out of its mouth like a hyena.
Eberk
"AaaaaaaaaaaaggggGGGHHHH!" Eberk screams in frustration and probably a bit of shame as he comes charging back into the fray weaponless. His axe lies between his feet, where he dropped it when he ran screaming from the room with the elf maiden.
"You let me pick up my damned axe, mutt, and then we'll see who's more frightening!"
DM Luke
Any intention the dog may have had of leaping the druid and attacking the sweet-meat sorcerer is erased by the charging dwarf. Instead it wheels around and leaps off Yod to attack Orik. It gets past the warrior's guard, clamping down on the inner calf and trying the same tripping maneuver. Luckily it fails.
Bleeding time again. Yod roll d10 please. Cha and Ishah...
DM Luke
"About time! Kill this thing before he kills all of us."
DM, can you rebuild the map? Thx.
Hold yer horses!! I'm on it like white on rice... n'stuff.
DM Luke
Thx for the update.
Yeah man. Yod still owes me a d10 roll, but either way the healing brings him back to a conscious but prone state. It is Sari's turn.
Cha tuk
Cha tuk wrote:Thx for the update.Yeah man. Yod still owes me a d10 roll, but either way the healing brings him back to a conscious but prone state. It is Sari's turn.
I did the math and figured either way he'd still be alive and I won't be able to post again until the same time tomorrow night.
Sari
I move to (11,15) and deploy the weak chicken attack. I roll a 4 +1 for a total of five points of damage and 33 charges left in the wand. Isn't it time to level up? Don't I have new spells now? Shouldn't I be able to flame everybody, or something? Some spittle at least?
Sari casts a weary look at the dwarf. "About time you hauled yourself back here, my friend." She invokes the magic of the wand again, and sends a colorful spark toward the ugly doggy. "Where is a collar when you need one?"
DM Luke
It means you went to -9 before you were stabilized and healed. That places you at 2 hp. Conscious, but only just.
Sari's missile is stronger than she expected. It knocks the monster out of the air where it had been floating. It lands awkwardly, then begins to smoke and sizzle like the first. The sound fills the otherwise silent hall.
The jackal-headed statue leers down at the group as they take inventory of one another. On closer inspection its feet are taloned like a bird's and it has a long reptile tail. The weapons are exotic blades called kukris. One glows a soft blue while the other has a flickering orange quality about it.
DM Luke
By the way, there's another door in the alter chamber on the left wall. It is sealed and the group has only just noticed it.
Cha tuk
"There's another?!" I cast another CLW on Yod. 1 spell point left. 5+3=8. "Yod, that's all I've got."
To the group, "Let's slow down a minute, regroup and check out some of the stuff we're carrying."
By my count, we're carrying a wand (from the witch), a cloak (from the Shaman), 2 vials of yellow liquid, 1 vial of brown liquid, 1 stoppered vial (from Lyrie) and 5 scrolls (again from Lyrie). We need some healing and a couple of new spells wouldn't hurt. Let's secure a corner and sort some of this out.
