"This was as far as I went. After Jagen got killed and Nualia did nothing to help him, I wasn't volunteering to find the next trap for her. So we all pulled back until Tsuto returned from wherever Nualia sent him."
"Later on, he told me he jumped the trigger stone and found a lever to lock down the trap somewhere beyond. He and Nualia snooped around down here after that. Then he split again and never came back. I guess you guys saw to that."
"It's actually a bit of a shame you had to kill him - though I have no doubt he did something to deserve it. He was just obsessed with Nualia. I think most of his sins can probably be laid at her feet."

DM Luke |

Yod easily vaults over the trigger stone and examines the far end of the hall. Both the left and right doors are made of stone and closed. Neither has an apparent lock or trap. There's no obvious lever here.
Yod, go ahead and renew your skill rolls. Listen, Move Silently, and Spot. Search if you're examining something specific. No hide necessary I suspect, particularly if you're opening a door.

DM Luke |

Yod's careful search of the end of the hall and the doors yields nothing further. The broken statue's missing parts must have rolled down the sloped hallway - potentially even triggering the trap to dispose of the rubble. Maybe Jagen knows.
In any event, the door on the right opens easily enough. Beyond it is a large ovoid room with a broad shelf of red marble lining the wall. The shelf is covered with books, racks of vials, jars, bottles, scrolls and other sundries. In four places skull sculptures fashioned from the same stone as the shelf are topped by flickering white flames a hands-breath high. Seated in one of four plush chairs is a woman with the face of an angel. As the door open she looks up from her reading with deep blue-violet eyes.
"Lyrie, come look at this... who in the hells are you?"
As she says this a large black dog with smoking eyes springs to its feet and bars its teeth.
Everyone roll initiative.

DM Luke |

Sorry, that was the left door. I mis-wrote right when I meant left (see map).
The initiative order is ...
Demon Hound 19
Cha 18
Yod 16
Orik 14
Shal 9
Ishah 8
Sari 7
Eberk 6
Nualia 4
Only the bolded names get to act in the surprise round.
The dog advances menacingly, ears pricked for word from its mistress to attack. Advances to (14,19).
Yod's turn (single action only).

DM Luke |

As you close the door you catch the sound of her voice calling in some dark tongue you do not know.
Cha's turn. First full round.

DM Luke |

The other door opens into a very short hall, which ends in another closed door. That was a move action so you have your standard action to use still.

DM Luke |

Orik moves into the corner, looking for tactical direction from Cha. Shal falls back from the door to give Yod a clear landing area should he choose to jump back over the trap. She ducks behind one of the pillars in the room and nocks an arrow.
Ishah sniffs some odd smell in the corner of the room, oblivious to the trap and enemies.
Sari's turn.

DM Luke |

The door does not open immediately.
Does anyone have another action to take, or are you waiting her out in this position?

Eberk |

I'll jump it if I feel like it, skippy. I may do it just to whup yer lousy orc arse.
Eberk hunkers down behind his large shield and along with helm and scale shoulders presents a wall of metal to the trap and hall.
"Come on b!$~&-priestess!" he growls. "Time to face the thing you serve and pay penance in the hells."

DM Luke |

Yod
A spot check is what you want here. You can keep the roll though.
The room beyond is dark and dusty. To the left the wall curves around in a hemisphere. At the apex of the curve, the wall has been fashioned to look like a giant stack of coins. The edges of the coins are carved with elaborate spiky runes.
To the right, the room stretches around a corner and beyond your sight.
There's no furniture, and not really any other features in your sight except more of the same stone architecture.
Go ahead and act, Chuck.

Yod Akarn |

DM
Of course if I hear the door opening or any sings of activity coming from the other room I'll bail on searching and see whats happening Listen 17+0=17.
Also how do I activate the feather token whip? I read the description and didn't see an activation method. Do I have to be holding it? Or just say word or something? I plane to try to grapple either the dog or Nulia if I can get close enough.
What do I need to do if I want to try and use any of the scrolls we found? I know Draconic but does that let me read them or do I need to do some spellcraft or use magic device check?
Too bad I can't summon a Bison this would be a good time for one

DM Luke |

Yod
Peeking around the corner you see that the 10' wide hall comes to an end in a pair of double doors. These bear carvings of skeletons who extend their arms towards the handles of the doors. The handles are fashioned to look like a skull when closed together.
No sign of a trigger mechanism for the trap here either.
There is the barely audible sound of stone scraping on stone and a faint clink of metal links somewhere behind the walls. The door at the end of the hall opens and another of the hulking black dogs comes out. It immediately scents the party and turns its smoking visage your way.
Behind the dog comes a lithe young woman wearing a metal breastplate and carrying a long jagged sword. Her shimmering silver hair frames an exotic and beautiful face. Her midriff is completely uncovered revealing an expanse of milky white skin crisscrossed with red welting scars. Worst of all is her left hand which is twisted into the sinewy form of a demon's arm, complete with leathery red flesh and wicked looking black claws.
"Come back orc," she calls, then stops short when she sees the group waiting in the far room. "I see you brought friends..."
Everyone gets to roll initiative again.

DM Luke |

Had to remove that last post and try again. Details, details...

DM Luke |

Now stop running away and we can have this fight!
New initiative is...
Nualia 18
Cha 17 +
Ishah 17
Eberk 16
Orik 13
Demon Dog 12
Yod 11
Sari 5
Shal 4
ABY
Party map is here
Seeing the Cha's ongoing spell erases any doubt Nualia may have had to your intentions. With a scream of hate twisting her perfect lips she launches into a rushing attack aimed at the druid. She drives the massive blade with an unnatural amount of force, scarring the heavy shield and turning it aside to drive into Cha's ribcage. You take 15 points of damage.
Nualia moved to (11,17). I deferred Ishah until after Cha's chance to issue a command. Cha's turn.
Yod
You hear Nualia emerge from the room. Then some muffled shouts and the sounds of melee.

DM Luke |

SEC
The little ball of fire erupts when it hits her raising welts where her skin is exposed.
Ishah snaps at her but is put off by the creepy demon hand and doesn't follow through.

DM Luke |

SEC
"You betray the mother's trust, Orik? I'll feed your bones to the fire..." She then utters something in a dark tongue you do not understand that makes the dog bark.
Yod's turn.

Yod Akarn |

DM
Atk 15+7=22 if a hit Dmg 8+7=15 if surprised add 4+3=
If I can't attack I'll just hide there and wait for next round. Hide 12+9=21

DM Luke |

Dispel Spoilers.
Yod rounds the corner and spots the hound just as it attacks. The deft orc slides beneath its jaws and smashes the monster in the ribs with his morning star.
Nualia stands beyond the hound, between Yod and the rest of the party.
Sari's turn.

DM Luke |

Sari's missile hits weaves its way into the melee to smack the witch. She recovers quickly, however, and applies herself to the task of skewering your dwarven friend with the massive blade. Eberk grunts in pain as she skewers him through the shoulder just above his shield.
She retreats a step down the hall.
Cha is up
