Father Zantus has a very worried look on his face as he casts a healing spell on Yod... 12 hit points restored, so you're maxed out.
"Desna favors you my son, see that your actions honor her favor."
Sari and her sister scurry across the plaza to the cathedral doors. Her sister turns before entering.
"Come on Sari, it sounds like the fight is flaring up again and they'll be barring the doors. Now's our chance."
The snarling dog around the corner gives a scream of pain. Ishah is up and bolting for the alley to the north. Cha, you may make a Handle Animal check to enforce that last Heel command you gave if you choose to stop her.
Quick status update so we're all on the same page...
Damage - Everyone is at maximum hit poits.
Spell Points - Sari and Cha each have 3 points remaining.
Cha has 3 magic stones in his pocket. freaky
Sari's Mage Armor is still in effect.
Yod Akarn
Thanks Father, nothing like a good jolt of healing in the morning.
I'm sure we'll be seeing you again soon, these goblin dogs are bad news. If you've got any cure disease potions or the like you might want to bust them out, I'm sure some of the townspeople have already been attacked by the dogs. New map in the works???
DM Luke
New map. You betcha! I'll send it out as soon as I get home.
Everyone please give me an initiative roll.
Cha tuk
I go into battle singing a new Shoanti war song...
In the town of Sandpoint
Amongst all the townfolk
Gleam of a blade
And the devils did raid
Then the axe came down
A chilling sound
Eberk cleaves a head
And another goblin's dead
Kill the goblins,
Kill the goblins,
Kill the goblins...
sung to the tune of "Kill the Wabbit"
DM Luke
Eberk leads the charge up the alley connecting the plaza to Cliff Street. On the far side of the street a goblin rides a savage dog-like creature that stands hunched over its defeated foe - a terrier that has been slain and dismembered. The goblins mount whirls its bloody muzzle to face the party, drops a canine foreleg from its mouth and emits a keening howl.
Just beyond the dog, a townsman with a drawn rapier stands at guard, apparently waiting for an enemy to advance on him.
The mounted goblin smiles widely when it sees you emerge from the alley. It has a voice like tearing cloth.
'Well longshanks, fancy a leg o' Mutt?' It cackles madly and its laughter is joined by that of four more goblins, emerging from cover up the road.

Map and illustration on the way...

The server apparently ate my first attempt at a post, so forgive any duplicates that may eventually show up!!
The four goblins up the road raise their weapons and charge at you.
The mounted goblin stows his polearm and wheels his mount to put distance between he and Eberk. He unstraps a shortbow from his crude saddle.
New map on the way. Ishah's turn...
DM Luke
Ishah gives Cha a backwards glance, plainly unsure if she's getting in trouble. Then she scrambles up the right side of the street to cut off the mounted goblin's path. At one point, her track takes her close enough for a goblin to take a swipe that very narrowly misses her.
She advances to F17.
DM Luke
A perfectly valid move. As I told you tonight, you lose your Dex to AC for the round by running.
The young man with the rapier in the alley across the street lunges out at a passing goblin. The monster manages to parry the blow and the two square off against one another.
It is Sari's turn.
Sari
I take a five foot step to square R7. I hurl a magic missile at the mounted goblin; range 100 feet +10 feet per level, so he's in range and I'm down to one point. Then I take out my crossbow with the intent to load and fire next round.
"Take that you dog murderer!"
I roll 3 +1 for 4 points of damage to the bastard.
DM Luke
Sari's missile slams into the mouted goblin. He rocks in his seat, but does not fall off. He fixes a malevolent eye on the sorceress as he draws an arrow from his quiver...
Cha's turn
Cha tuk
I follow the slippery Yod through the maze of goblins staying well out of reach of any I run by.
My destination is F15.
Once I get there, I try to dismount the ugly beast.
Touch attack roll 15+1=16. Improved Trip roll 10+4(feat)+4(size)+1(str)=19. Attack is 19+1=20. Damage is 3+1=4. Seeing as the rolls weren't half bad, I'll hope at least some of that was legal.
DM Luke
You can reach F15 with a Run action, but that is a full-round action meaning you cannot attack at the end. Additionally, you lose any Dex mod to AC, but as I recall, you have no Dex so that is not an issue. Also, you will not be able to use the trip attack to dismount your foe. You could use it to try to trip the goblin dog, but it is not a small creature, so you would lose the +4 size bonus to the trip resolution roll you've been enjoying. In any event that would be next round.
Cha has advanced to F15 without provoking any Attacks of Opportunity. Eberk is up...

Didn't see that it was a full round action. That's alright. I did read however that...
Tripping a Mounted Opponent
You may make a trip attack against a mounted opponent. The defender may make a Ride check in place of his Dexterity or Strength check. If you succeed, you pull the rider from his mount.
Is this a variant rule we're playing by or did I actually get one right?
DM Luke
Never heard of that one - but we don't see mounted opponents very often. If the opportunity presents, you are certainly welcome to try that.
DM Luke
Eberk is back to his murderous ways. The goblin collapses in a heap after a brutal blow from the Dwarf's heavy axe.
Cleave! (goblin in H11).
Eberk, you're always welcome to scream a question of your fellows as to their tactics. They have indeed by-passed the four goblins on foot and rushed into combat with the mounted one. You can see in the beady little eyes of your adversaries their intention to run down the street and attack the sorceress, but there is now little anyone can do to prevent that... But you can still Cleave!
DM Luke
Eberk nonchalantly lops off another goblin head.
The two remaining foot-soldiers charge down the street at Sari - sensing the easy kill.
The mounted goblin begins his movement by moving to D14 - thus provoking an Attack or Opportunity from both Cha and Yod.
Please state whether you're attacking the goblin or the goblin dog. Once these attacks are resolved, I'll continue with the mounted goblin's turn if he survives. I'll also send out the latest map once the goblin's turn is finished.
Yod Akarn
For DM Luke
So we get aoo's then the goblin finishes his turn then ishah goes, then my regular turn then cha's, is that correct
DM Luke
Dear Yod,
Your sequence is correct. You get to take a free stab at him because he's leaving a threatened square, then his turn continues if he survives.
I'm afraid you know what you know. You've never actually seen one of these before - they do not walk the streets in Riddleport. They have a reputation for carrying disease - and the look of their mangy and hairless hides in person backs up the anecdote.
This particular one yips and slavers a bit. And it has a bat-shit mad look in its eye. Of course it has a goblin on its back - so it has an excuse for cracking.
DM Luke
Yod stabs into the wretched creature from the underside and neatly disembowels it. It jerks away - throwing it's rider against the far curb. The dog flips over and jerks spasmodically in the street, obviously dying. The goblin apparently struck its head pretty hard because it takes a second once upright to steady itself.
Ishah vaults over the dying goblin dog and goes after its rider. The goblin fends off her bite with a crude leather guantlet. It is still holding a shortbow in its hands.
The gentleman with the rapier sees the two goblins charging past him toward Sari and starts to head them off. He catches the rear goblin up on the blade of his sword - running him through from behind.
'You'll not have that one,' he quips as he places his boot on the goblin's shoulder and draws out his bloody blade.
Yod's turn. New map on the way...
DM Luke
Sometimes I have to remember to type slow for our high-plains drifter friend.
You were granted an Attack Of Opp on the mounted goblin but you never took it. We'd still be waiting for you to take it - but Yod killed the goblin dog with his, throwing the goblin out of range.
Now it's Yod's proper turn. Yours is next - don't get you're grapeleaf in a twist.
Cha tuk

Slow is good. I thought I was bound by the usual initiative roll, thus I've been awaiting a resolution to Yod's post. Apparently during AoO's it's more like a free for all? One day, and three hundred missed oportunities later I'll figure this out.
DM Luke
Since you both were awarded AoOs, I usually just let whoever wants to go. They are immediate actions - not counting against the actions you take on your turn, and not occurring on your turn. They interrupt he who provokes - and the provoker's turn continues after they are resolved.

Got it. I'll get the next one.
Cha tuk
Obviously Cha is still reeling from the missed opportunity as he was pretty sure it was Sari's turn next, but at this point, he'll take what he can get.
Cha advances to D13 and attacks the goblin on the ground.
10+1=11 Opp at -4 to AC. Dmg is 5+1=6. Man I hope that kills something, cause I really wanna kill something.
Sari
While the boys are trying to figure out which way is up, I continue on!
I take a five foot step to s6, load and shoot. rolled 10 +2 for a whopping 12. If that hits my damage is a straight up 5. I intend to reload first thing next round and find out who the helpful stranger is. He looks cute.
DM Luke
Yep. I screwed up the initiative order here. No big.
Sari, with the -4 to hit due to your foe being engaged in melee with an ally, your shot flies wide.
Cha's target is on his feet - not prone - so there's no -4 to AC. You are unable to land a blow.
Back to the top of the initiative order. Eberk is up.
DM Luke
The goblins attack. As Yod runs to stick himself in front of Sari, the goblin slices across his stomach for 3 hp. He also takes a 5' step.
The former-rider goblin takes a 5' step to put some distance between Cha and himself, then provokes an AoO from Ishah as he attempts to shoot her with his shortbow. Ishah narrowly misses biting him and he rewards her with an arrow that draws a line of crimson down her flank. (3 hp - Ishah has 6 total).
Ishah attacks on her turn as well, but fails to bite the tenacious goblin.
It is Yod's turn. New map on the way...
DM Luke
Your sickle catches the outside of his ankle just right and he's flipped onto his face. He rolls onto his backside, holding his head and you lop it off along with one wrist with your follow-up stroke.
Ishah is whimpering and licking her side.
This fight is over.
Cha can see the gate from where he is. As he looks on, a band of the town watch attack the gate mechanism, which is held by a couple of goblins. They easily take the guards and the gate is lowered with a crash.
Some of those looters left trapped in the town look up at the sound and begin a retreat north. Behind you, the watch has swept through the plaza.
Spoiler for Sari
Sari, as you brushed by the stranger in your last move, he seemed to try to catch your hand. You look back now towards him and are surprised to find he's right behind you.
He smiles at you and bows. Speaking lowly, "Thank you for coming to help us. The numbers against me and my hound were not encouraging."
