DM Luke |

for ABY:
Eberk's cleave attack fells yet another goblin (D3). The street is clearing quickly.
I need to synch up with Yod, and then it will be the goblins' turn.

DM Luke |

for Yod
Ya. I made the map but never sent it. :(
comin atcha!

DM Luke |

spoiler for Yod
Your stab catches the creature right about kidney level and runs him through. The man in the street turns to thank you, then checks himself in surprise, obviously at your appearance. He quickly recovers and offers his thanks to you.
The other goblins rage further into the plaza, adding their strength to a battle already raging there.
another map is on the way. When you're ready, go ahead and declare your next action.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Aby
The goblin from N8 moves to attack Eberk. His slice traces a line of blood across your cheek (1 point of damage).
The goblin at K5, still smarting from a Magic Missile hit, lunges at Cha but misses badly.
Another goblin rushes wild-eyed into the fray. He ends his movement is square L4 without attacking anyone. The goblin with the torch sets fire to one merchant's tent, and moves further with the obvious intent of torching the others. It looks like Eberk's friend's tent may be his next intended target.
In square H2, a goblin that has scaled the small shop there dives off the roof with the intent of attacking the townsman seeking shelter there. He misses and lands on his head with a snap, apparently breaking his neck.
It is Eberk's turn and a new map is on the way.

Eberk Ungart |

aby
If my blatant disregard for the goblin bastards put a hurtn on me (I am down 4 hit points with 10 to go before this move)I yell to Cha A little healn pleaz!!! If they missed me or did little to hurt me I laugh and keep on swinging.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Aby
You step past the goblin in your face and move 15' to M5, provoking Attack of Opportunities from the goblins in L7 and K5. Both of these attacks whistle by harmlessly and you visit destruction upon the torch wielder.
It is now Ishah and Cha's turn.

DM Luke |

for Yod
The goblin you attack is busy poking his weapon at a small lap dog under a table of heavy items, and he never notices you. You run him through from the back.
Your attention is drawn by the hoarse battle cry of a crazed Dwarf who mows down the torch-wielding goblin with a big heavy axe.
Hang out and let the rest of the party act, and maybe we can finally dispense with these spoilers...

Cha tuk |

aby
I shout, "Ishah attack."
I try a push move to get her to do so. As I understand it, this is a Move action and still allows me to perform my own attack.
Roll is 17 + 7(Handle Animal) = 24, DC is 25. Unless I've misread everything, I have to assume that fails.
I try for an improved trip on the goblin at K5.
Roll is 9 +1(AB) = 10 to touch. I think this fails, but in case.
Roll to trip is 5 +1(str) +4(IT) = 13
That surely failed, but if not then the attack roll is 1 + 1(AB) = 2. In case the trip fails and he tries to trip me, I'll opt to drop the weapon than be tripped.
Looks like the Druid Slaughter karma may be wearing off.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Aby
You gesture with the sickle and yell fiercely, "Ishah, attack!"
Ishah's hackles raise and the teeth come out in her very earnest expression of disatisfaction with the goblin, but she doesn't budge. She cuts her eyes at you to see if you look happy.
Your trip attempt fails to snag the opponent, so no opposed ability checks.
Sari's turn.

DM Luke |

spoiler for Aby
Your missile streaks through the battle and takes the goblin on the upswing, lifting him off his feet with the force. He hits the ground pissed and rushes at you. By the time he reaches you he is exhausted, so he sits down for a minute.
The goblin in L4 attacks Eberk with his rusty blade and scores a hit. Once again, the crappy blades of the goblins are ineffectual against stout dwarf flesh and you only take 1 point of damage.
The goblin in K5 attacks Cha and misses again. You almost feel bad about murderating these hapless monsters...
It is Eberk's turn

DM Luke |

for Yod
The goblin you have declared as your target is the one cleft in twain by the aforementioned angry dwarf. You move into the square between the burining wagon and the tent that has been set alight. The scene in the plaza is butchershop, with goblins lying in pieces everywhere.
In the middle of the plaza, the dwarf is focusing his ire on one last remaining goblin - now surrounded by enemies and doomed. Further up the street a very attractive young woman is fending off another goblin with a spear. Though there is still chaos in every direction, the plaza seesm nearly swept of foes.
You will integrate into the party's fight as the lead initiative next round (if there is a next round). No more spoilers after this one!

DM Luke |

for aby
Eberk, you have slain your target - cleave!

DM Luke |

The heretofore valiant Eberk hesitates when he should have cleaved! Through an arch of smoke made from the combined burning of the wagon and tent steps a blood-spattered half-orc, gripping in one fist a dripping short-sword.
Cha, you may act!
Another map is on its way. And yes you may now dispense with the spoilers, though I will continue to use them as needed throughout (and you should too).

DM Luke |

It's not wine time yet. That starts on Friday.
BTW, Chris - no postings this coming weekend as drunkfest 2007 commences at the Epcot Food and Wine festival.

DM Luke |

Cha's attack throws the unfortunate goblin onto its head. You follow it up with a nasty slice to the prone creature's neck. It's badly wounded, but not dead.
Sari, there's a goblin in your face that's still smoking from the blast you hit it with last turn. Beyond your enemy and Eberk you glimpse the muscular sillouette of a half orc among the burning tents and wagon.
Once Sari and the goblins act, I'll redo the map and this time I'll even send it to you guys, so you can see it. :/ My apologies...

Sari |

I take a five foot step diagonally to square G8 and cast yet another magic missile. I need to get another spell!
I have 3 spell points left after this action.
I rolled 4 +1 for 5 points of damage on the smoking goblin! I look around for my sister to see where she's got to.
Man, that is one ugly looking orc guy standing over yonder!

DM Luke |

Curiously enough, Ishah has her ears perked and is sitting up, staring between the buildings behind you to the street beyond (to the north).
Every goblin in the square is dead, dying, or laying at the feet of a Shoanti with bad intentions. This one stupidly stands up right where he is, provoking an Attack of Opportunity from Cha.

DM Luke |

See what a generous guy I am. You actually just get an attack, not a new standard action, so you should be attacking with your best bonus. So since I'm such a benelovent referee, your attack roll is actually 11 + 1 = 12, which misses his squirrely little butt (but was higher than a 7!).
Eberk also gets an Attack or Opportunity.

One of these days I'm gonna learn some of these rules.

DM Luke |

One of these days I'm gonna learn some of these rules.
S'all good brother. Now's probably not the time to tell you they're in the middle of rewriting all the rules anyway, is it? Bear with us and we'll get you there.

DM Luke |

Yep. That wastes the last of the goblins in the plaza. Your characters are free to take a few actions as you survey the situation around you.
There is still singing, screaming, and the harsh clash of weapons echoing from the streets surrounding. Also, up the street to the west, a small cadre of armed men, possibly the town guard, has started working their way up the street to the plaza.
Father Zantus stumbles into the square from the south, supporting a man with a twisted ankle.
"Get him into the church and bar the doors," he says to an alter boy who comes out to help him.
He turns his attention to you folks in the plaza. "You heroes are a blessing from Desna. Do you need healing?" He casts a wary eye at Yod.

Eberk Ungart |

Many thanks Cha. Nice fighting youngns!! I am going to check on my tent and see if everyone is okay. I will meet up with you guys in the church.
DM

Sari |

I search around for my sister and wonder what the hell my father was thinking leaving her there by herself? And just exactly where did he and uncle drunk-man take my mother? If any more of this craziness keeps up, I'll stop arguing with mom about leaving and kiss 'em all goodbye!
My main concern is for my family, however, I would like that awful singing to stop and to help clean up the riff-raff. After all, this is supposed to be holy day, for Desna'a sake!

DM Luke |

Sari's sister comes over and hugs her fiercely.
"Thank the Lady you came back here. I was caught in the crowd as it panicked! I came back here and everyone was gone. I hope they all got into the church!"
"Who are these people?"
She recoils somewhat from the hulking half-orc standing in the square.

DM Luke |

The sounds from the street behind you (to the north) remind you that a battle is on. The men of the town guard have rallied just down the road. Their captain - the shoanti speaker from earlier - is urging them onto Cliff Street. The reason becomes immediately apparent, as a mob of goblins is glimpsed through the gaps between the buildings, advancing down that street. The goblins appear to have brought 'cavalry' with this mob, for a couple of them are riding some kind of mongrel dog-beasts.
Knowledge(nature) DC 12 or
Knowledge(local) DC 17
The horrible singing is taken up again, sounding like a chorus of chain-smoking toddlers.
From Cliff Street, a dog is snarling and growling like it's fighting desperately with something. Ishah stands up and is clearly interested in the sound. She looks up at Cha expectantly.

DM Luke |

Father Zantus cautiously approaches Yod.
"My son...are you injured?"
His hands are in front of him - palms down making placating gestures.

Goblin Horde |

Burn, burn tree and fern!
Shrivel and scorch! A fizzling torch
To light the night for our delight,
Ya hey!
Bake and toast 'em, fry and roast 'em!
till beards blaze, and eyes glaze;
till hair smells and skins crack,
fat melts, and bones black
in cinders lie
beneath the sky!
So men shall die,
and light the night for our delight,
Ya hey!
Ya-harri-hey!
Ya hoy!

DM Luke |

We're not in round-by-round tactical action right now. All the enemies around any of you are dead or dying. You guys are free to talk or declare any actions you want - including those that might initiate new combat.

Cha tuk |

To Ishah, "I hear it too girl" and rub her head. "Let's make sure everything is safe here first."
Impatient to join the battle on Cliff street, I say looking at the Half-Orc, "Name yourself friend or foe."
For DM
Diplomacy is not my forte, roll is 6-1=5. Sense motive is 10+3=13.
I'm not leaving Sari or her sister unattended until the half-orc makes his intentions known. I'm also awaiting the return of the dwarf, but as soon as things clear up, I'm heading towards Cliff street at a run, making the way first towards the dog sounds.

Eberk Ungart |

Spoiler DM
I I have not killed my daily quota of goblins yet and that singing is killing my ears. I am off to start fighting some more. You youngins coming along?

Yod Akarn |

Name's Yod, friend if you're not a goblin, or whom ever thought to bring a bunch of them to town.
Injured I am Father, any healing you would be willing to render would be most usefull since I hear many more goblins and their dogs that will certainly need to be peirced soon in the area!!
knowledge local check roll=12 + skill=5 total 17
New in town I am, this isn't some kind of whacky goblin smiting ritual you do at the festival is it father??
I've already stabbed 6 or 8, sometimes they get a little stuck on my arm when I run them through.

Cha tuk |

"Well met Yod, I'm Cha, this is Ishah," pointing to the dog. That's Sari and her sister and the unruly goblin slaying dwarf is Eberk. "Let's get you some healing and then let's kill a few more of these vermin."
I wait to see what healing the father has to offer. If it's anything that will delay us, I'll heal him myself. If not, I'll take the moment to cast Magic Stone on three bullets and put them in my pocket. Either way, I'm moving towards the action asap.
