You can poke at the pillar but it is solid stone some 5' in diameter hardness 8 and nearly 1000 hp.

Is there something we might do that could provide a clue how to proceed? Have we overlooked something that we need to go back and investigate? This pillar's going to kill the whole game if the only answer is "you can't attack it or the tentacles".

In the spirit of having something to post:

Roylenna has been watching the group's back, but finally looks into the room, not understanding the challenge ahead. She calls out, "This could not be a functional temple without some means of getting past these traps. We need to look for some way to quiet the pillar's attacks, if only for enough time to pass through the room. It is unlikely that the priests would race through these trapped rooms in hopes of surviving to perform their duties beyond, whatever those might be."

She starts examining the walls for a catch of some kind that might disable the trap briefly so they can free Tobold.

He gestures towards Tobold, ”If not beink able to damage monster, we must frrrree comRade Tobold!”

Tobold took damage, so I assume we are still in combat, are the tentacles attacking anyone other than Tobold? In the next round, can Wulfgar use a str. check to try and get Tobold out?

So I'm going to assume that it's ok for Wulfgar to try a strength check to get Tobold out.

Realzing Tobold could not get out on his own, Wulfgar attempts to use his strength to free his friend.
str check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Wulfgar's action for the next round or If we are no longer in rounds he will just try again...
str check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

At this point the tentacles return to the pillar and Tolbold is released.


Relieved to see the tentacles retreat, Wulfgar breaths a sigh of relief, "Buildink sproutink monster parts is disturrrrbink Dah?" Turning to Tobold, he asks "ComRade Tobold are you beink ok?" Looking at the others, "Is anyone beink injured."

Looking at Dalgrym, Wulfgar shrugs, "Dah, comRade Dalgrrrrym, continuing we shall." He points to the north, 5-2 with his illuminated hammer. "Let us be goink that way." He then moves towards the northern coridor, keeping a keen eye out, hoping no more tentacles will try and grab them.

I saw a couple of people with injuries on their status bars that should have gained it back from life link, but if they claimed it now, I'd be hurting. Better to try to top everyone else off now. Is anyone down more than four hit points?

Ok, I am lost. North is where you came from. 5-2 leads to the room with the pillar with the trap.


Sorry, didn't realize 5-2 was the generic number for the hallways outside of 5-14. Wulfgar had been in the pillar room (5-14) so headed north from 5-14 through hallway 5-2 to 5-18

Stopping in front of the bronze double doors, Wulfgar carefully inspects the doors, while looking for a trap. Asking their new companions, "ComRades Xathanael or Amadana have you been travelink this way before? Are you knowink anything we are not?"

"Rrrright now the bad is beink out here, why would they be sealink more bad in? Maybe it is good beink sealed in there? Maybe somethink of Arden they could not be killink, Ya?"
