"We don't have to fight them about the hyenas if they are afraid of their own pets. Probably better that they don't exit the temple to harass common folk, anyway."

No attempt to intimidate, just stating her position. She's more against killing defenseless children and those that have surrendered than she is about putting down vicious animals. Or letting them eat each other.


Looking from Grenz to Roylenna, shrugging "If comrade Roylenna is beink ok with Hyenas eatink each other then so is Wulfgar. But Gnolls must be takink all Gnolls, Gnolls left are beink put to hammer, Da?"

cool, stating Wulfgar's position, This is there chance to get everyone out. So once the kiddies are gone, we let the hyena's eat each other and we raise the black flag...

Roylenna smirks, nods firmly, and says, "Da."

Wulfgar, your status line shows damage, but I think you should be fully healed based on our last conversation. Yea/nay? As far as I know, everyone is within five of full by now.


I haven't used the second '5' so I will add that to the name line making it 49, I think he was down ten when we started the combat. I will go back and check. If he's down he will use the wand.'

edit, ok sorted it out, in the first round Wulfgar took eleven points of damage, Second round he took ten points damage. I assumed the healing kicked in when you pointed it out in the second round. So second round Wulfgar healed five points in the third round he healed five more points. So down eleven points at the end of combat. I guess the question is if you healed him five in the first round as well. Either way he will use the wand to heal himself, or can channel energy if more people are down.

As long as life link is active (it was), she heals her linked allies five points every time they are down five. So you should be down one point total and she should be down ten more. I don't know who else is down, but I think it makes more sense for him to use his channels out of combat that for her to do so - if that's what you want to do, I'm for it. If you don't mind using the wand on her instead, that's cool, too - she's at exactly 50% unless there's someone else that didn't get healed yet.


Turning from the gnolls, Wulfgar smiles a gap-tooth smile at Roylenna, pulling out his wand, "ComRade Roylenna, I am thankink you for healink me durink combat. Let me be returnink favor, Da?" He then begins using the wand until she looks better.

Ok Wulfgar is -1 and will get Roylenna up to snuff

Is anyone going to make an intimidation roll to convince the gnolls to take the hyenas? If not, the hyenas will probably kill each other for food and the last one will die of starvation.

"Thank you, Wulfgar." She is at full and won't attempt to intimidate. It's not her style and she's a widdle bitty girl, anyway.


Looking from Roylenna to Grenz Wulfgar asks, "ComRade Grrrrnz, be telink gnolls to take pets da?"

Grenz, looks like you have the higher intimidate, do you want to try telling the gnolls to take their animals? If not shall we move on?


I don't think that will work, because apparently we cannot use any other means to communicate with them except speaking Gnoll. And Grenz does not speak gnoll.

"They wouldn't understand anything I would have to tell them..." - Grenz shrugs - "I wouldn't mind having a pet hyena myself to be honest, but I doubt they are friendly" - he begins to ponder but then just dismisses the idea - "We should just get going"

I honestly did dig around for a way to make friends with the hyenas - I think the only option here would be Speak with Animals + Diplomacy? Unfortunately that is a level 3 Bard spell :P

Uthala was speaking to them, brv said to roll intimidate to have them take the hyena, I assumed he would let it work.

It is a hallway with 2 doors, both are locked.


Gesturing at the two locked doors, "comRades, should we be unlockink door, or am I to be usink my key da?" He gives a tooth-gapped smile and raises his large hammer.


"We may need you to 'knock' - Grenz smiles - "But let me check first"

Perception door to the right: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Disable to disarm or unlock: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32

This is a windowless heavy oak door secured with an iron bar. Grenz can easily open it. Crammed in the chamber are 4 ogres and 10 goblins. They are weaponless, but extremely hostile toward any non-gnoll opening the door. Each slave has a manacled iron ball attached to one ankle that allows half movements only.

Speaking from the perspective of the good-aligned, it’s not much different from killing the gnoll pups. Speaking as the healer, that’s going to use up healing resources that we could better utilize in a fight that matters. BUT, do as you will.


Sorry folks, just knew the door was locked; didn't know it was just an iron bar that Wulfgar could have lifted. As for shutting the door, Wulfgar may have beat their init, Grenz did not.

Brv, could Grenz get the door shut before they rush, or could Wulfgar step up and close it before they get out?

A 20 is just a 20 on init. Wulgar will go before them and can close the door.

Moving beside Grenz, Wulfgar shuts the door, and throws the iron bar. "ComRade, we are closink door, Da." He turns and points to the other door, "Shall we be openink this door comRades?"

if this door is locked with a visible bolt, Wulfgar will open it.

A whole pile of unarmed goblins rush out the door attempting to force their way out of the room. There are dozens of them.

Watching the unarmed goblins rush out of the room, Wulfgar shrugs his shoulder, "comRades Speakink goblin is anyone? Maybe they are wantink to surrender too, da?" He gestures at the door, "Or am I tryink to be shuttink it to?"

Tobold see the goblins spilling out and gasps. He then shouts in goblin "Stop! What is the rush? You are free to leave the temple and not return!"

Tobold shouts to the rest of the group as he moves out of their way. "Let them go! They just want out!"


Seeing the goblins all run out, Wulfgar stuck his head in the door and looked around real quick. He then asks Tolbold, pointing at the other door. "ComRade Tolbold, are you thinkink about askink other goblins, if they are wantink to be runink too?"


Shrugging, Wulfgar walks past, Uthala, looking from her to the gnolls. "ComRade Uthala, be tellink gnolls to be takink pups, pets and slaves and be leavink. Lookink good for them it will not be, if they are still beink here after we are returnink from basement."

As Uthala tells the gnolls to leave hopefully Wulfgar turns to the others, "ComRades, shall we be headink to next level, da?" Keeping the light cast on his hammer he then heads to the stairs on the south side of the building heading down.

Tobold looks down the open corridor and says "I think there is another door down there Wulfgar. It's hard to say but from my vantage point it looked like the goblins came from the left door. The right one hasn't been opened."

You opened the right door already, ogres and more goblins. Wulgar closed it in a hurry as they were attacking.


Turning to Tobold as he passes, giving the halfling a gap toothed grin, "Come ComRade Tobold, the rrrright door was havink other slaves who were lookink angry. Let us be leavink prrrroblem to gnolls, and be goink, da?"

He then continues towards the steps going down.

Tobold nods, "Ok. Let's get what we are here for and get out of here. We have a job to do after all."


"One moment" - Grenz asks his companions - "Let me scout ahead"

He casts Message on Wulfgar.

"This simple cantrip will allow us to communicate"

Then moves ahead.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

Lying at the base of the stairs are the desiccated and skeletal
remains of several gnolls. A few of the skeletons look like they were
trying to claw their way back to the stairs before they died. A stone
overhang prevents PCs from seeing into the room below until they
are standing on the bottom step.
A blackened pillar sits in the center of the room. Scattered across
the stone floor are hundreds of shattered bone fragments. The air is
stagnant and thick with dust. Sinewy, brown fl esh coats the walls and
the central pillar.

Nodding his head "Dah communicatink is good." He then slowly follows Grenz down the stairs.

Seeing the Knoll remains, he points, "I am thinkink They were wantink to be leavink." Looking from the bones, to the splattered remains of the gnolls. Wulfgar walks through the bones. Holding his hammer high like a torch, he investigates the Pillar.

Thousands of unblinking eyes move on the pulpy walls as the flesh writhes with twisting muscle. The eyes follow intruders with an unnerving stare; a few even extend on tentacle-like stalks. A mouth filled with serrated teeth opens and closes in endless hunger near the southwestern corner.

Roylenna shivers at the sight that awaits the party. "Something frightened these gnolls terribly. Horrific as it is, this room may hold a nasty surprise indeed. Take care."

She stays well back.

Tobold stops at the bottom of the stairs. "Ok, this is totally creepy. I wonder what type of creature this is. Let me study it for a moment."
He then casts detect magic and studies the room.

Waiving at the eyes, Wulfgar turns and moves a little closer to the mouth pointing. "So eyes are seeink; Can mouth be speakink?"
