but a tennis racket leaves much more interesting marks ;)
True, true.

DM Lil" Eschie |

Aralu's bonecrew and summoned eagle team together to do some serious damage to Gorloth, and then Katara's morningstar sends the undead's skull flying.
In a macabre and poetic justice, Gorloth's bony skull rolls near it's last victim head, facing it into eternity.
@Aralu&Mary: you seem to be expert in spankings. Speaking from experience, I hope? ^^
@Mary: it's "Aralu", not "Arula". You ought to be.. you know. Spanked.

Mary Dawnrose |

No, but maybe it's my sense of humor?
Plus watching cartoons in my elementary school days.
#2, i blame my tablet for switching those letters.
Mary breathes in through her nose and exhales quickly, being silently glad it's over.
"Little one, would you be a dear and see if there are candles nearby."
Her thrush flies around the room, looking for (a) candle(s).
For RP purposes.
In the meantime she moves over to Baldrek, and kneels to push closed one surprised eye.
"This was a risk we knew would be on our path, but for it to come around this soon.......damnit!"

Katara Vardigan |

"He was heavily injured and we pushed on. It was bound to happen." Katara said matter of factly.
Looting the bodies of the undead before searching the room for anything else of Value letting them take care of the fallen.

Zurka Shadowsworn |

"Yes, he fought bravely and without thought of defeat. He will be sorely missed." Zurka responds quietly. Looking over the tiefling's corpse he continues, "He will need to be replaced once we return to Fort Inevitable. What shall we do with his body? Inter it here?"

Aralu Darkstone |

same as Mary ;)
Aralu dismisses her eagles with a gesture and takes a closer look at Baldrek's body. And sighs "it's as I feared, that spell makes am resurrection infeasible, even if he had taken precautions to one prepared."
She turns to the others
"Did he mentioned how he wants to be buried? Or at least what divine being he worshipped?

Mary Dawnrose |

I don't see death knell mentioning being an obstacle in resurrecting him.
Since the GM hasn't objected, i will assume some candle or two are found.
After the thrush chirps as an indicator, Mary walks over and takes them.
Walking back, she picks up a few loose bones from the fallen skellies, and when back she holds one unlit candle up.
"Can someone light this for me."
Afterwards, she lights the other with the lit candle, and places the two at seperated sides of Baldrek's head.
The bones she places in an unfamiliar shape on his chest.
A small home made amulet she was wearing, she now holds in her left hand.
"...Hecatia , σκοτεινή μητέρα, Nilufar , κέρατα του πατέρα , ακούει λόγου μου. Στην εξερεύνηση μας , ένα τολμηρό μία έπεσε στο χέρι του φάουλ ζόμπι . Θα επιδιώξει να νικήσει τους αντιπάλους σε αυτό το αμπάρι , δώσε μου στο μου."
"...Hecatoa, dark mother, Ulufar, horned father, hear my plea.
In our exploration, a daring one fell at the hand of foul undead.
I seek to vanquish the adversaries within this hold, grant me in my future the powers, to make it so and send them to their demise.
Let the charm i make be testament to my ever devotion to you, and my plea."
Having spoken in a strange tongue, apparently somewhat understandable for Aralu Mary takes from her belt a peculiar looking dagger, and cuts off a piece of Baldrek's largest fingernail and a tip of one of his horns. She makes small fine holes with her dagger, and cuts off a few long hairs of herself.
Pulling them through the holes, she wraps them around, completing a small charm, which she attaches to a spare leather string, making a necklace.
"Your flattery wasn't on deaf ears, Big Red.
You were more refined in courting, than many a man i've met."
Mary extinguishes the candles and pockets them.
"He hadn't mentioned any. I suggest we burn his body, to prevent anytging or anyone from this place to use his body for nefarious purposes. Something brought back those after all."
Due to her patron, i imagine her Aklo dialect would be what thick Scottish English is to an Englishman. Very careful listening to a non follower.

Meurasod Spellslayer |

The mad dwarf fell to his knees, flushed red and huffing and puffing. His shield had fallen to the floor. His rage was abated, but his anger still grew. He stared at the body of the tiefling on the floor, watched silently as Mary performed whatever ritual she was performing. He didn't understand the words, possibly didn't even hear them. He was so focused on his failure that not much else registered to him. Finally, he stood up and collected his axe and shield. He sheathed and tethered them back in place before walking over to the corpse. "Grab whatever you can. We're going back to town. I will bury him proper." Meurasod knelt down and slipped his hands around the body. He stood up, tossing it over his shoulder lack a sack of flour to be taken to the market. He turned and headed back to the stairs.

Zurka Shadowsworn |

While Mary performs her ritual Zurka looks around the large room looking for any valuables the party can gather and sell later. He will also scan for any magical auras.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 13. Cast Detect Magic and scan the room.

Aralu Darkstone |

raise dead doesn't work on creature killed by death effects, the same is true for reincarnation(didn't look it up
Aralu listens, with some difficulty, to Mary's prayer.
The deadtouched girl whispers, as for a short moment, her hair and clothing are moved by what seems to be a gust of wind only existing for her.
"May your soul find it's place of rest"

DM Lil" Eschie |

Katar finds nothing on the fallen skeletons, only their old but still usable weapons 2 longbows with 20 arrows each,1 longsword, one halberd.
Gorloth carries, in a pouch under his neck, a vial of a silvery liquid, and a strange sign engraved on a small stone. under that pouch, a fine chain carries a small key. The quality of his bastard sword is obvious: it took a master craftman to build this weapon.
On the table, lay 4 another longswords, a beautiful and sharp dagger, a buckler, a belt, another vial of blueish liquid, a grey flask, a four pouches.
Pouch 1: 16 GP
Pouch 2:25 GP, 12 SP
Pouch 3: 77 Gp, 8 SP
Pouch 4 : a green gem (Appraise roll needed) and two weighted bone dices

Katara Vardigan |

Katara would gather everything up and looks at the halberd with a grin. Another weapon that would be good for her arsenal. It wasn't the sword she was looking for but she would eventually save up enough to have them made. Sawtooth sabers after all were not a common weapon.
Moving to Gorloth she took off the pouch and the chain with the key. That would come in handy somewhere. Seeing the sword she would give it a couple of practice swings and grins.
"This one is well balanced and masterfully made." She commented out loud to them.
At the table she grinned at the spread. This was why she loved the adventuring portion of her job. Yes while she did have to split what they didn't take or claim and sell off. She was a bit of a collector herself.
"Longswords, a nice dagger, buckler, belt, some kind of vial, flask and..." She would look through all the pouches. "Roughly 110 ish gold. Anyone any good at telling the value of gems." Taking out the dice she would roll them to see what came up before sticking them back into the pouch.

Zurka Shadowsworn |

For the first time in a long while, Zurka smiles. "This skeletal lord manages to amass a great deal of magical items. Let me see if I can determine what they are."
Spellcraft, the vial under Gorloth's neck: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Spellcraft, the engraved stone: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Spellcraft, the belt on the table: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Spellcraft, the vial with a blueish liquid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Looking over the weapons, Zurka comments on the bastard sword. "A weapon more durable than my current blade. I would claim it if no one objects." He will also help himself to a longbow and quiver as well. "Aralu, you should equip your minions with the weapons the other skeletons were wielding."
Zurka would claim the bastard sword and a longbow (and arrows) for himself.

DM Lil" Eschie |

the vial found under Gorloth's neck contains a dose of silversheen This shimmering paste-like substance can be applied to a weapon as a standard action. It gives the weapon the properties of alchemical silver for 1 hour, replacing the properties of any other special material it might have. One vial coats a single melee weapon or 20 units of ammunition.
The other vial is a curative draught potion of Cure moderate wounds.
You have no idea about the belt and the stone, even if the belt buckle depicts a bear.

Mary Dawnrose |

If Zurka is puzzled over any item, Mary offers a second look.
Spellcraft an unidentified item: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Zurka Shadowsworn |

Zurka nods as he finishes his examination. "Silversheen. A useful substance in the right circumstance. And also a cure potion as well." He holds out the belt and the stone for the others to look over. "These items are not known to me."
DM: can we get an updated loot list once we head back to Fort Inevitable?

Mary Dawnrose |

Then that one goes to the belt.
I could guidance myself to make it 24.
For the stone:Spellcraft, guidance: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 = 27

DM Lil" Eschie |

@Zurka: sure!
The stone is something you have never saw before. This small token is a thumb-sized cylinder of unbreakable greenish glass, and it can be used to teleport inside the Spire only, from level to level. The sigil engraved is an azlanti number I'll check on the book later to tell you what level precisely

Mary Dawnrose |

How convenient, i speak that too.
Mary examines the belt and stone.
"Hmm.....Meurasold, or whoever feels like soaking up the hurt, this belt is enchanted to enhance one's stamina.
About the stone, i've not seen one before. It's seemingly a piece of polished glass, with some qualities i am uncertain of, which i'll need to study it a bit before i can say for sure."

Zurka Shadowsworn |

"Too bad it only works on those who are living." Zurka remarks as he look at the corpse of Baldrek.
Zurka is OK with having one of the ladies use the belt, but ideally Katara should use it.

DM Lil" Eschie |

Wrapping the loot and taking the corpse of Baldrek with you, you start to walk the way back from the Spire supposing you're backtracking the same way
Potential encounter: 1d100 ⇒ 83
Soon, you get out of the Spire. The night will fall before you reach the Fort, so you'll need to camp in the Echo Woods.

Mary Dawnrose |

Aside from Big Red and Zurka, Mary has 1 heal hex left for the day. Anyone?

Meurasod Spellslayer |

Meurasod sets the body down as gently as he can and sits down hard next to it. "Katara, you mind taking the first watch? I'll take the middle watch. Zurka can have the last. Aralu, how long can you keep those skeletons controlled? Setup camp and I'll get some fire wood." The dwarf rubs his feet before standing up. He grabs his axe and begins looking for the closest wood.

DM Lil" Eschie |

Intelligent undead have one save per day. As skeleton are mindless, I guess they'll obey you until they come to a source of necromantic power (someone else channeling negative energy, a necromantic school spell targeting them, or whatever the GM find useful (and logical).
Meurasold collects some wood easily and you settle your camp for the night, midway from the Fort and the Spire, inside the woods.
Katara takes the first watch, while you're eating some rations

Zurka Shadowsworn |

Perception to wake up: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Zurka reacts instantly to the dwarfs shouts as he stands to his feet, grabbing his weapons and watching for any other threats besides the lone humanoid.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Mary Dawnrose |

Perception Mary: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Perception Thrush: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Mary is sleeping soundly, but the little songbird responds like Zurka, waking rather quickly at Meurasod's alarm.
It starts chirping frantically into Mary's ear.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Is that enough to wake up?

Mary Dawnrose |

Merci.
Mary's eyes open, at the frantic chirping of her little bird.
"Mmm....hm, what's wrong?"
Mary sits upright, and stands up, as she sees both Meurasod and Zurka with weapons at the ready.
Taking her dagger as she stands, she cautiously awaits whatever comes for them.
Readying a hex, -2 to attack, for the moment the threat comes into her view.

Walter "Unlucky" Dorbalk |

Walter was running as fast as his wolf-like legs allowed him to. He jumped over a fallen log and risked a glimpse behind.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Knowledge (local?), inspiration: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 8 + (6) = 30
Since the creature felled him from his horse, Walter spent little time in putting himself far away to the creature while it was still paying attention to the horse... some would say he was a coward but Walter had his own opinion: better to flee from a critter and fight bear... curiosity always has its price. Unfortunately it looked like Walter was a much more attractive target than the horse or there were more than one 'thing' pursuing him.
He noticed movement ahead of him as well but this time they were somehow static. Someone is camping ahead... perhaps the numbers will help me... or lock me in place... Luckily he had not his bow in his hands so as he was getting closer, Walter threw his hands into the air. "Don'tshoot, don'tshoot, don'tshoot, don'tshoot... " He then looks back once more and points to the creature behind him. "Changed my mind... shoot, shoot, shoot!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 1 = 16
If allowed, Walter would 'dive' above Meurasod, landing behind him... The acrobatics check even beat his CMD... Follow the link in Walter stat line for his sheet and picture!

Meurasod Spellslayer |

The dwarf shouts "halt! Stay where you are and identify yourself or I'll cave your head in." As the tiefling comes running into camp, Meurasod raises his shield and tightens his grip on his axe. He readies to swing at the intruder as he comes charging right at him. He gritted his teeth and started to swing just as the tiefling leaped right over him. "What the? Come back here!" he shouted as he spun around to keep his eyes on him. "Huh? Shoot what?"

Zurka Shadowsworn |

Zurka cracks a small smile as he watches the newcomer vault over the dwarf. An impressive feat there. Still one does not take such a risk unless there is a good reason to...
Peering out into the shadows he scans to woods for any signs of the tieflings pursuer. Still, to bring troubles upon us will need to be answered for...
