Agreed with Auraelia. :) Paizo doesn't really have a way to express it, but people aren't born with bulging biceps. :)

Until Nary dies and Isabel takes a level of Spiritualist or Mediator or the like. :p

But which emotion? Jealousy or Anger? Little Rage Gnome would be the best. But I feel like Envy is a bigger thing for Nary. :P

For some reason, now I kinda want to see a mythic Nary who ascends to godhood ;)

I'm going to go with 'Please no.'
Nary goes to take the test of the Starstone... and since they're technically identical, the test is unable to stop her and Isabel from taking it together. (they're practically the same person!). Hijinx ensue, and they become the second set of twin gods in Golarion. Which is now weeping.

Nary may have just topped my personal weirdness in a campaign meter. I know she just topped Aaron WTF scale.
And yet it's still adorable.
Ila Indigo
Okay, so... is anyone actually against Nary having a thrallherd of -animals-? :P

Okay, there needs to be a Whisperer archetype for mesmerist. Like... yesterday.

Since we lost our alchemist, I'm considering multiclassing in Alchemist with Aaron, having him start to learn how to put together his own poisons and alchemical tricks. Thoughts?

Personally I love multiclassing and alchemist both. Just make sure you get a good ratio of levels down.
As for learning how to put together his own poisons, levels in alchemist arent strictly necessary - Craft (alchemy), Master Alchemist and Master Craftsman can do the job.
Also if you do decide on alchemist, you'll probably want the vivisectionist archetype.
I'll update soon, btw - my computer's been being funny.
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin
There are several abilities that the alchemist gets that I like, so I kind of want the whole class. I'm thinking six levels so I can get Swift Poisoning and max out my ability to use 2nd level extracts. Plus, really embracing the use of alchemical tricks and tools is something I was already planning. With the class, it's just more literal.
I actually was looking at the Toxicant archetype from the Dirty Tactics Toolbox. I am so using a ton of things from that book. So good for dirty fighting. It replaces mutagen (which really doesn't fit Aaron) with a potion that makes your body toxic to anyone who touches you while it's in effect. I think it actually stacks with Vivisectionist too.

According to my awesome gnome book the gnomes arrived into the Material Plane 800~ years ago.
So I dunno if Nary would really be familiar with that part of her ancestry or not. If you think so, then ok! It's your setting. The book seems to leave it ambiguous. Like some gnomes are more in touch with the fey stuff than others. But I'm generally playing it as if she doesn't really know a whole lot about the First World or fey races.
...Not that she won't claim to be an expert, though :p

It's a bluff, because she doesn't know it's true. :)
Nary-a-Care
Haha! Yeah, that's what I meant.
I'm going with the assumption that Nary knows that gnomes are "fairy blooded" but exactly what that means she doesn't know. When Nary thinks of "fairy" she thinks of little winged sprites... but obviously there are lots of kinds of fey.
Nary herself has never met a fey.
Nary is aware that she could essentially become immortal if she just constantly does new things. She's arrogant enough to simply assume that means she will never die! She's also aware that all gnomes are magical, and she assumes her psychic powers are actually just gnomish powers.
My goal with Nary is that she's street-smart not book-smart ;)
But of course she's also aware that humans tend to view gnomes as bizarre little fairy beings and she enjoys making up random bullshit about fairies as if she were in-the-know.

Mister GM Leinathan -
So, as a mesmerist, Nary can use her Painful Stare ability on any target that is the subject of her Hypnotic Stare to add +1 damage to a damage roll. This is a free action (which means she can use it the first round she uses Hypnotic Stare on :O!) that she can use on other peoples' turns.
Anyway... I think that'd work better automated, so if you can do that for me, I just want it to trigger as soon as it can, 1/round, on the first person it'd benefit.
But if you'd rather I call it out every time, I can do that too. :) Just wanted to bring it up.
Auraelia Blackthorn
I suspect it's gonna get used here very shortly :)

Oh wow, I missed that completely. Haven't read the mesmerist all that carefully. Sorry. :(
Shame though, I was looking forward to us staring at the bad guys and thinking angry thoughts together.
Nary-a-Care
Aaron - if it works that way - that'd be awesome!!
But I don't know. It's not very clear. It's clear that multiple mesmerist's stares do not stack, even if they have different bold stares. So I figured it and evil eye work the same way.
Though multiple allied mesmerists can all painful stare the same target, which is funny :D Grrr, we glare together!

So what you're saying is you need access to Simulacrum so you can have an Army of Nary doing a mass gnome Painful Stare of doom?
Also! Don't forget to go be Kiora for a bit too ;)

Ah, I was struggling with something. Sorry, I suck.
Also reading a bunch of rules, since I had today off. Blame leinathan D:

No worries! Don't think of it as struggling, think of it as not lowering your standards just to post quickly ;)
And I'll be sure to send all the blame his way! :p

They don't stack. As long as you are not adding the same effect, they're not stacking. They're individual effects. If you both target will... well, oh well. But if one of you targets AC and the other Will, that's not stacking. But once you start picking up additional stare benefits, you might be wary of which you pick up. :) Coordinate!

By their powers combined?

I need to acknowledge something on those lines. An enemy just rolled a zero on a will save. I believe it is safe to suggest that the saves have already been flushed. :P

Going out so, to avoid making things take longer than needed...
Nary takes a few steps forwards, bringing her dancing light with her as she moves.... though she is loathe to get any closer to the big brute, it is necessary for her magic to have any effect.
Though, what magic! Unlike boring normal spellcasters, Nary influences the minds of those around her with just a thought - no words, nor twiddly fingers. She pulls a small, shiny silver coin out of her pocket. It's incredibly shiny - she keeps it that way using a mixture of natron and lemon juice. She maneuvers it along her fingers and starts flicking it into the air, where it spins in the air, reflecting her dancing light then falls, and so she catches it, only to toss it back into the air again. Up, and down. Up and down. It's hard to look away. It's mesmerizing, in fact.
"Your head is full of cotton," Nary says in a dreamy voice. "It's getting hard to think... "
Who am I kidding...It's probably always hard to think for this guy!
Nary moves forward so that she is within 25' of Giggles (but behind Aaron, if possible) and casts Daze onto Giggles: DC14 will save or lose actions for 1 round, but gain immunity to daze for a minute. Also, Hypnotic Stare had a 30' range also, so she'll use a swift action to initiate that if needed. (She definitely wouldn't have stepped out into the open to get in range)

I really do like the idea of one day playing a paper mage (that isn't terrible). In this case, though, it was significantly more for literary purposes that she chose a debt ledger to bludgeon Lamm with. :p
Sadly, the financial reports will not survive their flight.

For the record, Mavarro is awesome!
Nary just incessantly trash talks him in her head because she didnt need to hypnotize him to do something for her. I hope you don't mind.

Mine, too. I try to post as Ary in any group I'm with you guys in. :P
Ila Indigo
It can't; the illusion school calls out that unless the spell specifically says it can, it can't. You can -definitely- make it -sound- like talking through a door or the like, though. :)
Nary-a-Care
Ila Indigo
Yup. You could even make it sound like Giggle's voice... but it can't be intelligible speech. Which is so weird.
But... that's a cool magic item. :)
Auraelia Blackthorn
2 people marked this as a favorite.
One trick you can do to make unintelligible speech believable is to make it sound like a language you know the target doesn't speak. People can do really good gibberish impersonations of other languages. Good enough that people who don't speak it can't differentiate between the gibberish and the real language.
I'm in the same boat as you. Definitely not looking good :P
There's gonna be some "Li'an is dead"-level emotional response from me if Sigrid is dead :\
