I've been working under the impression that maybe we were supposed to meet up in town... but, since they're waiting again, I could move Ila towards back home. :)
Auraelia Blackthorn
If it's going to be a long wait, Auraelia will push to head back to Ila's anyway. She needs to get her croc and see if one of y'all can heal up Sigrid a bit :)

Take it with a grain of salt... but it might just be where you got your totem powers from ;)
Auraelia Blackthorn
Wow, that's really cool! If I'd found that when writing Auraelia's background, I absolutely would've written that in :)
I'll just assume it happened somewhere along the line there :o

It's from Occult Origins, in the Rituals section. :) I say 'grain of salt' due to it being in a wiki. And we all know how you sciency folks feel about wikis ;)
Edit: Or not! It's actually sourced to a long time ago. But I found it -because- I was looking at the rituals on the wiki, because of Occult Origins! It was just -linked- to by the stuff in the wiki for it. :o
Auraelia Blackthorn
:p
I use wikipedia all the time! Just always make sure to double check sources if it's something important :)

The other information I've found (On the wiki!), is that Pharasmins often view Spiritualists as Spirit-Slavers... :o
I really wish that sort of stuff had made the cut for the original book. If it was in there, I didn't see it... and I think 'how do these fit into my world' really, really should be in there. :|

Just wait until Isabel tells you all the stories about how she gained that experience. If you thought Lamm was a harrowing series of events...

Nah, she just gains EXP like this (third panel).
Ila Indigo
Also, I'm kind of curious about how things play out if we don't take down Lamm on the first night. Does the king just not die until we kill Lamm? Can we completely change the course of events by not murdering one dude?

Way to go Ary, you just spoiled the plot for the rest of the books. Might as well explain it all now:
You see, in murdering Gaedren we set off a chain of events that leads to the fall of Korvosa and the freeing of an ancient evil. The evil spreads throughout the land, tainting all it touches, killing and raising the dead. Our heroes fight a losing battle to save Korvosa and then the world, and in the final moments before the world's end manage to successfully travel back in time. There they have to work behind the scenes to save Sigrid and yet keep Gaedren from being killed, so that the assassination of the king will be delayed until they can properly set up protections to keep the rest of the prophecy from coming true.

In looking up a spell for one of my players in HR, I noticed that -many- of the occult spells are listed at the wrong level on the d20pfsrd site. For example, Apport Object is supposed to be second, but is listed as a 1st on the list. That may affect choices down the line; be sure to check the spell information.
Apport Object is -still- a really cool spell at second level.

I'm SO sorry that I've let this game lie for so long. I think we've all been in various states of funk. I know I have, and missing Kioralady's game wasn't really helping me stay in the PbP mood.
However, I am confident that I can begin posting again at a good pace.
Ila Indigo
Yup! I was just working under the assumption that this was paused until Kioralady could give you the information you desired, so that you could push through the night with that information in mind. So... not any more impatient than I already was. :)
As a side note... I'm thinking about dipping into shaman or witch to get healing hex, as it's also quite fitting and frees up a ton of resources. I'm just not sure when or what will cause it. We'll see as the game progresses!
Nary-a-Care
I'm thinking I'm gonna have to drop this game :( Sorry for taking so long to decide that - it's because I really don't want to - but I'm going through a series of career changes that are gonna make it hard to keep WotR going at all let alone anything else.
(baaaaaaaaaasically if anyone cares I'm up for promotion getting shoved forcibly into a management position except I don't want to be a manager - I'm attempting to make a career switch to research in clinical trials- either way my free time situation is a lot less certain than it was a few months ago)
I'm really sorry leinathan D:

Auraelia Blackthorn
Awww, Auraelia's gonna miss Nary! D:
We're at 4 now? I'm ok with going with 4, but not opposed to another if everyone else wants a new player!
leinathan
Most of my own desire for a new player comes from reasons of balance.
We've got a spiritualist, a hunter, a slayer and a witch. Between all of you there is nobody with good Charisma or, really any ranks in any social skills.
There's also decidedly a lack of healing and a lack of thievery skills, I'd say.
I am, however, somewhat wary of bringing in new PLAYERS.
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin
Aaron's pretty okay at the physical thievery skills, and he'll be getting better. That being said, he is useless at anything even remotely charisma based other than Intimidate and his healing will never be very good.
Ila Indigo
Ila's actually not bad at healing. The witch can (or eventually will be able to) heal everyone once a day. Ila will generally be focusing on healy spells, when they're applicable. She'll also likely start investing in diplomacy, which she has skill focus for. It'll be a while, but a skill focus will generally outpace a high cha build. :)
My concern is that like in most games, ranged presence seems a bit low. I blame the feat taxes that make it difficult to play them for a while. It's why I tend to house rule point blank shot giving the benefits of precise shot within 30 feet. It also makes the prereq make more sense...
Mavarro Estrovan
Hit point healing is no problem, I think. We can even get a CLW wand at some point. The problem is more... anything else. Unless I'm wrong, none of us but Aaron can get any restoration spells. And even if he wants them, his progression is delayed due to multiclassing. That being said, we could always find workarounds, as we have so far in Kiora's game.
Soon Mavarro will be throwing magical cards... but that isn't exactly the ranged presence Ila is thinking of. ;P
I am a bit iffy about new players... maybe if it's someone that one of us knows?
Ila Indigo
Sure. A first level human fighter (who ostensibly has invested in all the best options to get the feats he needs) will have three feats at level one. Which covers the basically two required feats. But swap that to 'Elven Ranger'. It's not until level 2 that you can shoot enemies in melee without losing basically your BAB and Dex bonus to 'my friends are nearby'. And they're probably the next best choice (tied with Divine Hunter Paladin). For anyone -but- a fighter, it's kind of like dual-wield. It's nice... but maybe I want to take other feats, too.
Auraelia Blackthorn
My biggest problem with ranged is that you really have to devote to it 100% to do it decently. You can't be an archer and take fun feats too. A 2h user on the other hand has a lot of freedom since you only really need a couple feats to be effective.
Mavarro Estrovan
Archery in Pathfinder is hilariously powerful, but it does take a huge feat investment. Granted, you only really need two or three feats to be minimally decent at it. It's part of why switch-hitting works, though rangers have the obvious benefit of being able to skip prerequisites. (I'm looking at you, Improved Precise Shot.)
This is probably why Zen Archer is my favorite archery class. :P
Auraelia Blackthorn
Archery is spectacularly powerful if you go all in. That I'm fine with, since it's really a huge benefit to be able to pump that damage out at range.
But skipping prereqs and getting bonus feats is still a must for a switch hitter. Being an inquisitor switch-hitter for instance is painful.
Mavarro Estrovan
Hey everybody. ;P
I was iffy about bumping this, but I guess the question has been nagging at me. Should this game be considered on hiatus, or just outright dead? No harm either way, I just wanted to make sure.
Ila Indigo
Iunno. :o
leinathan
I'm really sorry - I lost focus for a bit, and then after awhile it just didn't seem worth it to post again. I feel like I'd need to skip a bit in order to get to playing again, to get right back into adventure.
BUT it depends! I'm willing to actually do this game again (my stressors are all melting away and I've got the time) if the rest of you want to.
Ila Indigo
I'm up. I'm pretty disconnected from the character at this point, so I'd have to try to shift into it.. but I'm up.
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin
Whelp. This is happening. I felt this was the best place to mention it.
Ila Indigo
They -really- need to do this with all of the APs.
leinathan
Come up with an actual idea of what to do with the orphan "Lamm" children. That would help.
I can write a meeting with Queen Ileosa and then a short meeting with Kroft about hiring you for a job - those are the two things that need to happen between now and the next quest, and I'm much better about being on-track during an actual quest.
Also, maybe come up with what you would do if you got paid 3,000gp for the group. From turning the brooch into the Queen.
Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin
Aaron wouldn't really do the kid stuff in-character unfortunately. He would absolutely have a use for some cash though. He needs a nice alchemist's lab and some nice ingredients to make some poisons and alchemical weapons. And gear. Masterwork weapons and armor.
