Okay, two high damage blasts 3 action each of freezing breath.

One for the pair of spirits on Gorlog spirits 8 and 9 and one for spirits 1 and 7 attacking Lightning Lad.

Spirit 8 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Spirit 9 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Spirit 1 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Spirit 7 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Garth, you hurl three bolts of electricity each at medium intensity towards spirits 6, 7, and 8. Apparently you caught all three spirits off guard a bit.

Spirit #6: Takes a Stunning Blow for 6d8 damage, plus your category.

Spirit #7: Takes a Critical Blow for 6d12 damage, plus your category, plus Knock Back if you want it. Possible Unconsciousness (which for a spirit is the same as destroyed) or it will lose its next 3 actions, all of this is depended upon how much damage your inflict upon it.

Spirit #8: Takes a Critical Blow for 6d12 damage, plus your category, plus Knock Back if you want it. Possible Unconsciousness (which for a spirit is the same as destroyed) or it will lose its next 3 actions, all of this is depended upon how much damage your inflict upon it.

Gorlog stands in the way if you try to strike both of his spirits (8 &9)with an area effect. You would end up hitting him as well unless you use 1 Hero point.

The two that have turned their direction towards Lightning Lad are easier targets for you. They are right below you (outside the fortress of coarse) and Lighting Lad is a few feet away from them. You can control your power well enough that you can reduce your area of effect to avoid Lightning Lad and still hit both spirits. No Hero point needed for this.

I'm keeping track of all of this on by game board with miniatures.

Spirit #8: If I read your attack correctly, you rolled a natural 1 which would be a blunder, which for now is a automatic miss.

Spirit #9: The spirit takes a stunning blow from you which inflicts 7d8 damage plus your category #.

Spirit #1: The spirit takes a critical blow for 7d12 damage, plus your category. You also may do knock back if you want.

Spirit #7: The spirit takes a solid blow for 7d6 damage, plus your category.

Shadow Lass

Tasmia flies about the room with 2 spirits following. Her flight ability is much greater than theirs so she maintains just enough distance to avoid being attacked, yet still maintain their attention. This uses up all of her actions for the sequence as well as the actions for the spirits chasing her.

Gorlog

As large as he is, he finds that his powers are not suitable to combat such creatures. He will anticipate their attacks and go with defense.

Invisible Kid

Lyle looks down at Obelisk to tend to his injuries, only to his surprise, he sees none, yet Obelisk is unconscious, his skin tone is a bit faded as well.

"Polar Boy, I think the the place needs some color first. Then worry about impressing the chicks! Obelisk doesn't look good, I can't see any wounds. but he's really pale and unconscious. He's breathing OK though."

Checking him over for injuries will take up Lyle's 6 actions for the sequence.

Wildfire

He continues to cut the hologram away from the floor for transport. It is precision cutting and takes time.

Mumbling underneath his breath...

"Don't want to take any chances on damaging anything, this better be worth it as well. I'd rather be wiping those howls off the faces of those spirits rather than cutting this thing out."

As a result of your lightning attack....

Spirit #6: Destroyed
Spirit #7: Injured, plus you knock it back through the floor.
Spirit #8: The spirit suffers enough damage that it disipates as it's blasted through the floor. Destroyed.

Excellent Shooting even if your not in a Labyrinth.

Polar Boy

Spirit #9: Destroyed

Spirit #1: Your Freezing Breath inflicts critical damage to the creature as it disappears through the floor.
Spirit #7: You destroy this spirit as well.

Yes you earn additional Hero Points within the XP system of the game. For table-top play it would be awarded at the end of the game. For PBP I'll award them at the end of each major scene within the game, such as you guys finding the glass tubes and fighting off these spirits.

With the Hero points you can use them to alter your powers like you'e been doing. In addition to Hero Points you will have the opportunity to try and improve in your abilities, such as your powers, AOE, Basic Traits, etc. Anything with a category attached to it. Improvements in these abilites will not utilize Hero points. Improvements in your abilities is a slow process.

Essentially you can improve in a number of areas equal to your Intellect category. If you Intellect is Remarkable/8 you can attempt to improve eight areas. To improve, you roll d20 and add your training modifier as well as 1/2 of their Intellect or Concentration trait (whichever is greater). If the roll equals or is greater than the Training Challenge Score (TCS) on your character sheet, you succeed.

This leaves Spirit #1 Facing Lightning Lad and Gorlog and Spirit #4 still following Shadow Lass through the air.

Initative Order Remaining
Shadow Lass: 18

Spirit #1: 8
Spirit #9: 8

Shadow Lass Continues to lead the spirit which follows her throughout the vast chamber. "Polar Boy, what's the situation over there, you want me to send this spirit creature past you guys or are your hands still full"?

Gorlog Standing near Lightning Lad he says "There is little I can do Legionnaire, please destroy this nuisance for me."

Invisible Kid Also with little to do against such creatures, he flies up to Polar to watch him and Lightning Lad prove once again why they belong in the Legion. "I see you two are making some progress. Where's Shady (Shadow Lass)?"

Spirit #4: The creature continues to follow Shadow Lass, finding the chase very frustrating, it's anger is getting the better of his thinking.

Spirit #1: This creature is gravely injured. It targets Lightning Lad and tries to fly through him. His attack roll results in a -3, it's an automatic miss. No nead to make a defense roll Lightning Lad.

I believe everyone has completed their actions (if I missed anyone please let me know). This should bring us to the end of the Action Sequence. Once again it's Initiative. We have 1 critically injured spirit facing Lightning Lad and Gorlog and another following Shadow Lass.

This should be rather easy to do and you can pass on a power roll since you can simply re-do it until the sled is exactly the way you want it. Gorlog will then lift the hologram device up and place it on the sled.

Are you headed back to your spacecraft or do you have unfinshed business here?

male Winathian Co legion founder

My thought is to take this back to the spaceship and plan our next course of action be it return or leave; the priority to be getting this clue to the ship safely.

"Shadow Lass, Please fly high cover guard; Wildfire; please take up the rear guard"

To the Ship!

It takes several minutes but you eventually exit the underground complex with the hologram system riding the sled. Once you reach the exit, you can see that the weather has changed dramatically in the few hours you have been here. What you see now is a puple colored water falling from the sky. Dark clouds loom overhead as the liquid touches the ground. Instantly the liquid turns into a purple gel-like substance. The air is cold and when the gel appears producing a dark purple steam which protruds from the ground.

Gorlog: "So are we gonna have your ship land here or do we take Obesilisk's craft?"

Obeslisk My craft is to small and would not hold both the hologram machine and you (pointing at Gorlog). I'd reccomend having your Legion ship come down here. Do you have a cargo bay large enough to transport my ship, or at the very least help me refuel it with crystals?"

Lightining Lad and Polar Boy: You don't have enough cargo area to load up Obelisk's ship but you do have a tractor beam of sorts which will limit how fast you can travel. You also should have enough crystals that you can share for his ship.

"Star Boy here Lightning Lad, I got a fix on you and I'll land nearby. Radiation levels remain unchanged. I am detecting on odd sort of percipitation in your area. Are you safe from it? It appears to be caustic in nature and strong enough to inflict damage to your skin; I suggest you stay out of it until I arrive. I'm also getting readings of steam eminating from the ground all over your area as well though it doesn't appear to be dangerous based on my readings.

I'll land as close as I can and pick you up. Then lock the tractor beam on to your suspicious equipment. Once its loaded I can take Obelisk's ship and break away from the planet's gravity. I'm not sure what your cargo is, but its possible the caustic percipitation could damage it. Any way to secure it so that won't happen?

Polar Boy thought of mentioning the Kryptonian's in stasis but some things, even if using Legion technology, were not safe to broadcast.

'You might want to send an alert to Supergirl and Superman to rendezvous with us when they get a chance. We've some news they might want to hear.'

It was a standard message that wouldn't give away anything important. Everyone was wanting to talk to the supe pair so no one would think twice on the request if they were listening in.

Trust someone who had tried 86 times to collect their signatures at fan appreciation days.

Several minutes later, you see the Legion craft emerge from the clouds and fly over the vicinity, after a pass over, it settles on the ground approx. 150 feet away from Obelisks smaller craft. He lowers the ramp which leads to the bridge of the craft and awaits for you to step out of the cavarn system. Given the walk you had to reach the cavarns, its a distance of about 1/3 of a mile but to those who fly that is a mere blink of an eye.

Obelisk and Gorlog are unable to fly. In addition Polar Boy's flight ring was removed when he was captured. The acidness of the rain may inflict some minor damage at best, it gives of a slight burning sensation for those who stick out their hand to test it.

Polar Boy will add an Ice Tent covering supported by pillars of ice as he walks along creating the ice path to keep people and the equipment safe. He'll add ice thickness to compensate for the wearing away of the acid.

He'll also put on rain shields on the side if it looks windy and the rain might spray on to the walkers.

Walking like a tour guide, Polar Boy says,

'Now, looking to your right you can see the wonderful hill of "I don't know" next to the plains of "Not on my map". Notice the way the light reflects off the peaks over there creating a truly a Shoulda-say-I-don't-know effect.'

Not long after, you place your cargo on board the Legion craft and the ship rises into the air. Obelisks ship is then able to be taken with via tractor beam.

Where would you like to fly to?

<Afterwards; i will plot and initate our course; do a system scan of energy signatures; and write my report.>

Very well then, back to Legion Headquarters it is.

Obelisk: "If we can add some energy crystals for my ship I'll continue my journey. I won't be slowing you down and I can meet my own responsibilities in a more timely manner."

Star Boy: "We can help with that, our crystals are a higher quality and will give you extended range with your craft. Why don't you come with me and we can prepare the energy transfer."

Obelisk: Very good Star Boy I appreciate the assistance.

Obeslisk and Star Boy take a walk to the engine room.

Filing Reports: The reports are called Visi-tapes, and basically consist of events your flight ring recorded in sort of a 3-dimensional shape. The visi-tape will pick up voices and such in order to add to the validity of the events that transpired. You are also able to add your own comments in at any point during the tape. The information is downloaded on to a tape (about cassette tape size) and are typically turned in after a mission for analyzation.

It is up to you if you want to give the Science Police the same information or if you want to delete/add some information concerning the events that transpired. You can send it via your ship straight to Earth.

Hologram: You are correct in believing that Brainiac 5 would be likely to get the hologram working and discern various clues from it that would have otherwise gone unnoticed by a person with a far more limited intellect.

Doctor Gym'll: He is the "offical" physcian of the Legion, though Brainiac 5 handles many of the emergencies that arise as well. Doctor Gym'll is considered one of the top physicians in the United Planet's territory. Here is a brief description that your characters would be familiar with, regarding him.....most of his greatest moments of assitance towards the Legion has yet to take place, but he is called upon frequently for various medical difficulties.

Doctor Gym'll was one of the best physicians in the United Planets, with a practice based on Medicus One. He was personally hired by R. J. Brande to be the Legion of Super-Heroes's physician. Although he had often grumbled about the annoying fequency of super-heroic injuries, he actually developed a fondness for them and had helped out the Legionnaires after they had ceased to be his obligation.

He might be able to provide proper medical treatment to the Kryptonians that are still alive and in suspended animation.

Sending Another Team of Legionnaires in to the Planet: Mon-el, your current leader certainly could arrange a second team, utilizing certain individuals such as Invisible Kid, Chameleon Boy, Phantom Girl, and Shrinking Violet (the Legion Espionage Team) along with a heavy hitter or two to see if there are more areas that require exploring, and at the very least bring the medical authorities to the locale of the Krpytonians.

Emitting Red Sun: Your only hope would be Sun Boy, though he hasn't tried this before, he may be capable, he may not be. It might be possible to transport the Kryptonians to an area of space which operates under a red sun in order to prevent and mishappenings with them.

Invisible Kid: "Umm we could retrieve enough kryptonite and use it to keep them in a weakened state for examination pruposes. Alternatively we could simply shield them from the rays of the yellow sun in order to avoid the chemical reactions in their bodies which would normally turn them into a literal army of Super Peoples. It might be possible to transport the Kryptonians to an area of space which operates under a red sun in order to prevent and mishappenings with them, though I opt for enclosing them if we can treat them where they are at or find a suitable location that is large enough."

Gorlog: "As mentioned earlier Lightning Lad, I was part of the first Science Police Officers team to investigate. I'd prefer to stay until they arrive for further investigation, perhaps they will come along with your Legion escorts who you suggest should continue the exploration and recovery of these Kryptonians. I am able to take care of myself quite well and can fly through space in the form of a meteorite if need be. I shall stay on the planet, as it was my responsibility in the first place. Now if you would kindly open the hatch, I shall alter my shape and continue where I left off at.

We have to send a report to the SP. We can encode it with the highest encryption and mark it eyes only to the most superior, top level commanders; but right now; we are the only ones who know and that spells disaster by itself; especially if something happens to us or this ship; our obligation is to protect everyone.

Certainly Gorlog; we would appreciate a report from you as well; and of course you may stay and act as warden here.

red suns generate radiation on specific frequecy; should be easy enough to replicate; there are certainly enough red suns around and enough data taken to generate such energy. I probably several bands of em and light waves around 6328 Angstrom.

Times like these I wish we had some cloaked drones to leave to monitor this planets EM band and monitor signals going to and coming from this planet; and peraps a drone missle to follow them back to the source with a homing beacon.

Still, we have not cracked the mystery of the celestial phenomenon; any thoughts?

Encoding your visi-tapes is easy to do, you'll be able to add a security code to it in order to ensure privacy. Standard security codes used by the Science Police or the ones that the Legion often uses are very difficlut to breach. It is up to you if you want to use the most complex one available or if you think you can do better by creating your own code. Creating a code requires a Encode Message Area of Expertise roll.

Reproduction of a red sun certainly is possible, you'll just have to figure out how you will replicate or capture the rays so they will serve your intended purpose.

Regretfully, any tracking equiment is unavailable to you at this moment; with the exception of the ship itself. The ability to pick up an inactive signal is beyond it capability. Dawnstar on the other hand could do it, as that is her primary power. You would just have to bring her back to the point where the signal began.

Gorlog: I appreciate the fact that you approve and will be taken my leave now. Perhaps one day our paths will cross again. Invisible Kid then shows Gorlog to the space portal. In addition, Star Boy and Obelisk prepare for his departure as well.

This leaves only Legionnaires remaining; Lightning Lad, Polar Boy; Invisible Kid; and Shadow Lass.

I will use the communications on the ship to try to reach Dawnstar and inquiry about what we can do and if she is available.

I will additionally use the most complex security code already in place; the most updated version for the data.

After Gorlog leaves and we make our good-byes; we make best speed out of here back to legion headquarters unless anyone has anything to add.

In chapter 9: Evolution Unveiled, it discusses the awards of earning Hero Points. Essentially these are part of the experience points system for the game. Hero points are awarded at the end of an action scene; in a comic book that would be after a major battle or other event that took some time to cover within the story.

In a standard game played at home around the table, a game session is likely to have anywhere from 1-3 action scenes that get played out by the end of the night; all depending upon how long we play. In a play by post game, an action scene obviously takes much longer to complete. We have now reached the end of the action scene.

Lightning Lad: Please refresh my memory; quite some time ago when we started this game, you travelled from Earth to the planet. Along the way you encountered a meteorite shower caught in the wormhole you passed through. Did I award any experience for that action scene? I know at the time I was still tinkering with some changes to the rules, so I may or may not have given them out.

On the front page of your character sheet, you should have a place that says "Data Bases". You should have two of them;

1. One of them will say Action (Action Database) or Hero Points most likely. It underwent some changes so I'm not certain what your character sheet will say. On the blank character sheet I recently gave you for your upcoming second character it should say Action. Do you have any points under this area? If so, how many?

2. The second entry should say Brande Account. I doubt you have any points written down for this area, please check and let me know whether you do or not and if so, how many points.

3. Do you have any other entries in the Database area of the character sheet, if so, what does it say?

The other thing I need to know is....when you look at your Areas of Expertise, Powers, and basic traits, you will see a series of small boxes next to them. Do you have any of these "check marked" "X" or shaded in etc.? If so, for what ability and how many are marked off?

Ok, for some reason the links are not working correctly.

Legion Cruiser Mark X.

Mark X Cruiser #2.

Based on the diagram of the Mark X Cruiser (assuming the image actually pops up when you click on the link), shows that the weapons station is located on the lower deck of the bridge, who ever wants to man the ion cannons should report there. Also this location holds the instruments for locking the computers into battle mode and activating shields. The lower deck also contains the instruments for running various scans, such as life forms,

Whoever chooses to manuever your craft through the space debri must be on the upper deck of the bridge. These operations are best performed by 2-3 people. A single person must prioritize what is done first on the bridge.

If someone is going to divert as much power as possible to the weapons they must report to Engineering in the rear of the craft.

Wildfire, if your considering exiting the ship and becoming a one man wrecking crew, let me know. The hatch to fly out is located on the lower level of the bridge as shown on the diagram.

As we leave and prepare our course <avoiding the meteor storm this time> I once again repeat this scan; then will compare the two scans for changes or anomolies that may only show up on side by side comparison or overlay.

Taking up Invisible Kid's previous suggestion; I will scan the radiation field then map the solar wind through the region; and partical streams to see if there are any anomolies; holes; or mismatches. Also scan for signs of passage from ships used fuel cells and magnetic variation signalling a ship under powers passage.

Also; once underway and things slow down; I will run a query on Dr. Tio and gather what I can on him; as well as input the descriptioin of the pasty white faced gaunt guy in the long black outfit and the skeletal hands, Soul Harvester; and start gathering data on him and start a Legion File if there is not one already; I will send a query to the Science Police for their files as well and access any other databases; basically will do what I can before I hand it all over to Brainiac to filter and codify as he is much better at this sort of thing, but I have first hand experience and a recording so feel I should start the file.
