Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

Hazreem nods grimly. "If my experiences have taught me anything, it is whatever lurks here is undead most likely. We need to find the Eye so we have to risk disturbing whatever spirits remain."

Perception vs. traps: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (4) + 30 = 34

Visible to all once you approach the first set of doors is that there no visible way to open the "door". Instead, it appears that the door is partially solidified / partially flowing molten living brass, which you recall from the "trap room" was highly toxic to your very soul.
Outside this door (and all of the others you can make out in the near darkness) is a plaque with the name of who is interred there and their period of rule over Bayt Al-Bazan. Names like Sulleimon the Wise, Alpharax the Cruel, Rajon the Magnificent, and such adorn the nearby doors. The dates are must be in some foreign elemental dating system, or perhaps unique to Bayt Al-bazan, and is not immediately recognizable to you all.
No magic nor evil is otherwise detectable to anyone still from the current position at the first set of doors.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

Hazreem stares down the hallway with a growing feeling of dread in his body. "I don't like this, but we have to keep moving here." Once Pae gives his OK here he will slowly hover down the corridor to the next set of doors.
Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23

![]() |

Reaching the end of the corridor, in near total darkness, you encounter two doors of interest.
The last sealed door bears the name "Al-hassen the Thief", which you recognize as Jhahvhul's little brother who stole the Impossible Eye, bringing a major battle into this palace and ultimately the curse that you are now trapped by.
Re-read this post for a refresher...
The final doorway is not secured with molten living brass at all. The plaque bears the name, "Jahavhul the ______". As you peer into the room, you see an ornately detailed bier surrounding a slab of living brass. Motifs of fire and destruction common to Efreet adorn both the bier and slab.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"That does make sense." Hazreem replies slowly. "Still if the Eye was here, we may still find a clue where it may be hidden."

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue XXIV |

"Hmm, let's see what we can find out..."
Pae quickly checks the door for traps before turning his attention to the plaque.
Perception vs. traps: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 30 = 31
Perception on the plaque: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
Does the epithet on the plaque seem to be intentionally left blank, or has it been scratched out? Are their dates associated with the name, even if Pae can't decipher them?

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

Hazreem looks around the tomb. "Well, the Eye is not here apparently. We should backtrack and check out the room we left unexplored. Still something killed that lizardfolk."
GM J: How long ago was that lizardfolk killed?

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"I think these Crypts are a dead end. Maybe we should see where the Babbler Priest vanished to? Perhaps the brazier is a portal of some kind? We should examine that brazier."

![]() |

Not feeling particularly inclined to break into tombs, "Let's explore down that last hallway first and then check out the brazier if that turns into another deadend." He glances back in the direction of the dead lizardman, "Still...something must have been down here and killed him. Perhaps it went up to the rest of the prison and that is why the door was partially open..."

![]() |

The group heads back down the ultra-dark crypt corridor towards the lizarfolk body. Pae suddenly stops the group at one of the doors, now noticing something previously missed in the near-darkness.
There appear to be lizarfolk tracks that abruptly leave from this door and head back down the corridor to where the body lays.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"It could be someone who knows of the Eye. We need to track him!" Hazreem whispers.

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue XXIV |

At Bahir's recommendation, Pae checks out the door and the room beyond. He'll also see if the lizardfolk tracks continue past the dead body.
Perception vs. traps: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (8) + 30 = 38
Perception on tracks: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (16) + 25 = 41

Pae does not notice any traps. However, he does again notice that the door is made of partially solidified, molten living brass. Recalling the trap room, the group remembers that contact with living brass, at least in liquid form, was very bad.
In closer inspection, with more focused light on the floor, Pae also can tell that the tracks stop at the dead lizardfolk.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

Hazreem first looks closer at the 'corpse', nodding to Bahir. "I think this may a trick..."
Perception (is this an undead?): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"Whoever is down here with us is trying to use the corpse as a diversion." Hazreem notes as he looks around the area. "It is probably using magic to cloak itself."

Mah'ysa Alandir |

Mah'ysa frowned at Hazreem's analysis.
With a whisper and a flick of her fingers, she used a Touch of Good and cast Detect Magic and concentrated for the three rounds needed.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 6 = 22

Mah'ysa Alandir |

Looking at the door, Mah'ysa does not like the look of it.
Taking out a copper coin, she tosses it onto the liquid brass bars.

![]() |

Mah'ysa's coin hits the brass door to the tomb and falls to the ground. There are no bars; it is a solid door.
After waiting around and on edge for some time, no threats make themselves apparent in the hallway.

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue XXIV |

"Hmm...this hallway seems to be a dead end with nothing of interest. Maybe we should head back up the stairs and continue our exploration," Pae says as he backs toward the stairs, keeping a nervous eye on the apparently abandoned corridor.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"Yeah, whoever was down here seems to have eluded our grasp." Hazreem agrees.

![]() |

The group cautiously heads back past the dead lizarfolk, cautiously giving it one final chance to come alive and attack.
When nothing further happens, you continue back up the steps to check out the last large room on the hall. As you approach, you notice the doors standing open and a reek of refuse and dung emanating from the room. Peering in carefully, you see piles of bone, rubble, furniture, and waste all about the room, with one large central pile formed into some sort of nest. Clearly something huge and reptilian made its home in this room.

Hazreem Al'Shakar_1 |

"This must be where that pyrohydra made its nest." Hazreem notes. "Doubt we will find anything in here of value." As the others gather round he adds, "Not much else here but that brazier we saw earlier may hold some clues."

![]() |

Surveying the refuse, "Yes, I think you are right. I can step through the brazier first...if it, indeed, does turn out to be a portal somewhere." He looks meanfully at Mah'ysa, "Though perhaps we should consult The Dawnflower for guidance in this...I'd hate to find myself trying to go for a swim in another river of lava."

Mah'ysa Alandir |

Mah'ysa looked apprehensive.
"Ah, unless you would be willing to wait until tomorrow, I have no way to do that." She replied. "Perhaps Efreat's idea would be best."

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue XXIV |

While the others discuss how best to approach the brazier, Pae cautiously creeps toward the large refuse pile to see if he can find anything of value or use.
Stealth: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40
Perception: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (15) + 25 = 40

Paellat 'Pae' Silvertongue XXIV |

"Hey everyone, check this out!" Pae says as he rejoins the party with a severed arm in his hands. "It has a nice looking bracer on it, I wonder if it's magical."

Mah'ysa Alandir |

Mah'ysa shook her head.
"Ugh, that severed arm is really distracting. I can't tell what the bracer does, but I'm pretty sure you need both of a pair for it to function."
