Pharnox |
There is a ranger archetype for guns here, might not exactly be the flavor your looking for but it should be useful... Pharnox can deal with traps, his perception and disable devices cores as an adult will be good... This comes from the Ultimate Combat book.
Trophy Hunter (Archetype)
Some rangers have taken up the mysteries of black powder in order to become big game hunters. Finding firearms useful for taking down large and dangerous prey, they enter the fight with the crack of black powder fire, often ranging far and wide in their safaris and searches for ever-more-dangerous denizens of the wild to track, study, appreciate—and kill. While this might strike some as going against the ranger's usual respect for nature and the creatures of the wild, trophy hunters understand that they are just more pieces in nature's grand puzzle, and that the laws of the jungle—the right to kill and feed on those weaker than you, and the need to establish dominance through cunning and bloodshed—are both their rights and their duty as the current top of the food chain.
Improved Tracking (Ex): At 1st level, a trophy hunter gains a +2 bonus on Survival skill checks when following or identifying tracks. When he tracks, he can also attempt a Knowledge (nature) check at DC 15. On a success, the trophy hunter can discern the type and condition of any animals or magical beasts he tracks. By studying their tracks, the trophy hunter is able to identify a rough approximation of their health, maneuverability, and their general behavior as compared to the norm. This ability replaces wild empathy.
Firearm Style: At 2nd level, a trophy hunter gains the Amateur Gunslinger feat and Exotic Weapon Proficiency (firearms), and can use any 1st-level gunslinger deed (page 10). At every four levels thereafter, the trophy hunter can take a grit feat or select a gunslinger deed of his level or lower, ranger's choice. This ability replaces all combat style feats.
Hunter's Aim (Ex): At 4th level, a trophy hunter gains a specific understanding of the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of his favored enemies, and his careful study of these enemies reveals the best way to hurt them. When the trophy hunter makes a firearm attack against a favored enemy, he can target touch AC in the first two range increments of his firearm. This ability stacks with other effects that increase the range increments to target touch AC, adding one range increment to the effect. This ability replaces hunter's bond.
Pharnox |
Another note though, Pharnox can also manufacture poison for anyone who wants that edge... He can also manufacture Paste, Blackfingers (which makes it impossible to accidentally poison yourself).
Check out these following lists for anything you want, Pharnox will craft it for you at cost rather then full price...

I'll be building Pharnox as an alchemist with a focus on control oriented bombs such as Tanglefoot bomb and the like...
Tikkle |
Tikkle is gonna be a Swashbuckler from the playtests. Panache, speed, and risk sounds right up his alley.
Also, for the interim stories, Tikkle is leaving Swampwood and most likely Cadranite for some time. He may stay for a day or two, but he'll sneak out and go find a ship crew to join. (I'm totally not opposed to being part of any interim stories or roleplays, just know that Tikkle is not here by default.)
and GMSCV, Some GM's feel differently about the profession skill, but it doesn't seem crucial to the story so I thought I'd ask. Since it makes sense story wise, would you allow me a couple of freebies in Profession(sailor)? I like lining the story up to the character, but I'm a bit loathe to burn those skill points ;)
Anyka |
So wow, Knifemaster can get terrifying real quick. With the underhanded Rogue talent automatic level +4 added to Sleight of hand to hide a blade, d8's for sneak attack and if attacking in the surprise round with a hidden weapon, automatically maximize sneak attack damage (Charisma bonus times per day)
Assasin's Creed anyone?
Tikkle |
I just can't wait to use the Panache deeds :D
GM Scary Ceiling Voice |
Anyka - Rogue (Knifemaster)
Flynt - Ranger (Archetype?)
Pharnox - Alchemist
Gashka - Brawler (/Barbarian?) (If memory serves)
Terra - ?/Oracle (Just guessing from the last time you used her.)
Jin - ?
Tikkle - Swashbuckler
In answer to Tikkle's query, I'll allow one free point in the Profession or Knowledge skill of your choice, however, it must make sense to your character's interim story.
Gashka |
Gashka is going straight up Brawler. I don't want to dilute the characters abilities by multi classing. It makes it hard for me when I have to think about too many things, so I think just sticking with brawler makes more sense to me. Haven't looked at stuff yet since we just got up a little while ago.
Will do it over these next couple of days off between baking cake and cookies.
Tikkle, I'm assuming for those few days that you stay in town you hang with Gashka, Flynt, Nate, and whoever else happens to be around....but primarily with Gashka? Just to let you know, Gashka will miss her Kitty friend, but she'd understand your desire to get outta there too.
Pharnox |
Jin a note for you, if you take the magical talent (or is it magical knack) you can get two levels of spellcasting if you say take 2 levels in rogue and are a level 1 wizard for instance... I too see are lack of spellcasting support and would prefer you realize your true talents as soon as possible...
Chances are Pharnox wouldn't actually sell firearms at least not in the hawk them at the market sort of way... Firearms area little to expensive for him to wan't to risk making them and not be be able to find a buyer with both the interest and gold to buy em... It would be more like "made as demanded"...
Tikkle |
Tikkle doesn't always think things through, and he has had quite enough of seeing people's freedom taken for one day.
Gashka |
I just think this whole story is awesome, I just had to say that. Tikkle, don't think you're gonna get away without Gashka trying to talk to you. ;o)
Gashka |
ooolala....I likes the new picture. I haven't even started working on mine yet. Gotta do that as well....dishes, laundry, shower, cake, Lol....very busy day. Oh yeah, and sleep will have to fit in there somewhere too. LOL
Tikkle |
@Gashka - I assume the tree where we met is near your way home, That's where you'll find me ;) (Sitting atop that branch)
I really was about to take Pharnox up on his firearms offer, but burning two feats to use them? no thanks. This Tikkle's mean streak may allow some use of Noxie's poisons though :D
That said, I'd like to take a teamwork feat with one of the sneaky-stabby-flanky people if you guys would like to coordinate :) seems like my class is well built for it
Gashka |
I don't know...but like I said...she would pay for what she did to you. I don't care what her reasons were, there is NEVER a good excuse to do that to a child. Whatever happens next, just know that Terra is probably better off.
GM Scary Ceiling Voice |
It depends on the situation and the class of people involved. We'll look it up, but divorce wasn't really a thing back then I don't think...not too sure though.
Hence why I asked. Is her mother just up and leaving enough for him to get re-married? Or does there need to be some legal proceeding? Regardless, I'll let Terra handle that in her interim story.
I was just giving suggestions, after all, Lady Talia is a widow.
Gashka |
oohhh now that sounds like an idea...possible romantic interest? So, Henry looked it up in case you were wondering and they really weren't that common in medieval times. If a man wanted to divorce his wife, he had her head shaved and sent her to a nunnery. A man can not be married to a holy woman. That was pretty much it...pretty brutal times.
In this case it would just be up to you and Terra, however you guys wanted to handle it. Gashka was just hoping for something more severe seeing the amount of damage she did to her daughter, both physically and emotionally. But she take banishment.
Gashka |
Soooo, should I keep this picture of Gashka or change it? There weren't too many choices for half orc females. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with her story for those 10 years that will explain how she became a brawler and what she's been doing with herself besides working on the farm, and hanging with her friends of course. >;oP
Anybody got any ideas?
Vallterra |
ok here is what I was thinking
Terra's dad was killed in battle, and when her mother recieved word, she (for whatever reason) took it out on Terra.
after the incident in town, she went into deeper depression until she took her life about a year after that.
This made Terra the heir to the estate, but could not claim it until she was old enough.
