Sorry, will roll for the 1d3 * 10 minutes in the future. I had just put "After some time...". Not trying to show off with 'impressive' mods or anything, lol. This is a skills character, skills are all I have. I can do jack in combat.

Also GM, would you mind adding to this and putting it in campaign info tab? I'm having a hard time keeping track of everyone (and their genders ;P).

So, I just noticed that we were using the Background Skills option, and made a few small adjustments. Carry on, nothing to see here!

Found this video about Reuleaux triangles and solids last night. This morning I 3D printed 4 of the Reuleaux solids. :D I had known about the triangle before but not the solid...interesting stuff.

Reu, I have a feeling you're a very smart person.

Heh, well I just thought I'd point out where the name was stolen from. One of his focuses will be Osirion engineering.

I work in education and like to disbelieve smart/stupid as a psychological construct, instead believing in work/not work invested in the past.

SO. MUCH. THIS. There are definitely people that have an easier or harder time understanding certain kinds of ideas, but that has more to do with how something is taught then a failure to learn well.

Perhaps we should open up a discussion on Bluff here so we can get this taken care of. Before I launch into this, I'd like to say 1) I am not the GM and 2) I'm amused by Reuleaux so far and not put off.

Bluff rules are here. Reuleaux is correct as far as the numbers are concerned. However, the issue of how to adjudicate social skills between PCs is contested. We're not the first table to run into this, and we won't be the last. In some circles, players are allowed to use social skill rolls against each other in the manner that Reuleaux is advocating. In others, there's an understanding that other PCs have a certain degree of narrative agency that protects them from having to abide by the Bluff/Diplomacy/Intimidate/Sense Motive results and that those rolls only affect NPCs.

Reuleaux's character concept seems to revolve around being a masterful troll. By dint of his being here, the GM has given his tacit approval of this, at least where the NPCs are concerned (though I don't know that anybody, GM included, was quite prepared for Reuleaux as he is). As a social character, social roleplay is where he shines, and it would hamstring his approach to completely shut his antics down. What he's done so far has been harmless and I personally doubt that he'll intentionally derail the story in any way by his actions. (say, by stealing plot-important items and selling them for personal profit).

Personally, I would advocate that we limit "social skill combat" in the same way that we do PvP. I'm willing to play the gullible straight-man to Reuleaux, simply because that seems like it would be more fun for me personally. Even if everybody else is willing to allow their characters to be fooled by Reu, I still think it would be funny for Zoisa to get a pass. Zoisa being the "only sane man" seems like it could be fun, especially being the only other gnome, and a bit of a psychonaut at that.

You're right, I hadn't thought of it that way (as PvP). Probably best to not do opposed rolls between PCs, and just leave it a narrative choice.

I understand what you're trying to do, Reauleaux, and my exasperation was more with the dice than you. I get that bluffing is what you're made for, it's just kind of clashing with the "scrappy, excitable streetwise girl" image I had in mind when creating Zoisa, as your repeated successes are kind of giving the impression that she's gullible. Since the game's only started I really haven't been able to make her look competent in anything, especially since I made the mistake of going after the cards in the opening scene and ticking off Almah as a result.

Hehe, sorry then, just keep doing what you're doing without rolls. It will be better for party unity, and probably prevent Reu from devolving into pure chaos.

Thanx! It'll be all the more fun when she decides to bull$#@% Reauleaux right back, like Isabela did to Varric!

December 26th Update

Reu, your character concept is a bit odd and I'm fine with that as its interesting. However, its not an excuse to make fools of the other players. I would also like to avoid social combat so if you could play nice that'd be great.

Well, I certainly don't want to make a fool of anyone...and I'm not like a sociopath or anything. I just like characters where creativity is somehow required for them to function, and the challenge of a lie every post sounded like a way to stretch those muscles. But yeah, probably need to tone it down some it sounds like...I can explore other things that make him Reu.

December 26th Update

I'm posting this to all games I DM for.

I'm currently in the orientation stage of a new job that is scheduling ten 8-hour shifts in the next two weeks. As such, my usual posting rate may decline at points and I hope you'll understand. These intense hours and school will make it harder to find time to post, but after two weeks my posting rate should resume to near-daily.

Thank you for understanding.

Gremlins are supposed to eat ice cream and hershey's chocolate bars according to 1980s movies. ;) And yes, DM is there any kind of store within the caravan?

Sry, the story was basically meant to be a duped up version of what we just did so I didn't really go into a lot of detail and the lack luster roll took most of the wind out of my sail to want to go more into it. She's still a young performer, her strength is in dance! Heh.
