Yeah, it's been frustrating. I tried to update on Friday, lost the post and gave up. After a bunch of failed attempts, I just stopped checking at some point.

Hopefully things will be more stable tomorrow.

Yeah, boards have been a bit wonky the past few days as I checked in on my phone.


I know this is sort of a weird place to level up, but 5e 1st level characters are so squishy that I wanted to get you all to 2nd asap.

I considered having you all level once you had found Lamm's hideout, but it seems strange to gain a level in D&D without every getting into combat.

Also, 2nd is kind of a big level for the revised ranger. (Kinda makes up for not really sprinting out of the gate on 1st lvl =)
We get fighting style (finally!) and some (kinda effective) spells.

I actually have a Pavlovian fear response to leveling up a pathfinder character, mainly due to all the Q@#$%@%$^#^&#%^&#$%^#%^#^&ing skill points!

I think it's a fairly common drug- Red Feather used to be hooked on it, I think.

(Because of the teddy bears I just assumed it was something SUPER exotic and potent. But that's cool too. X)


A couple things:

As Orion says, the dueling fighting style does work with a shield.

Shiver is somewhat common. It's possible that Orion hasn't heard of it though, since he is a somewhat recent addition to city life. Up to you.

If you get additional spells from leveling, they are available for use right away. Same with any hit point that you get.

We'll hit the pause button on the game for a moment while Redfeather and Bas level, then jump back into the action.

So I was thinking, for instances like this, I figure I won't automatically roll initiative. I don't want to rob you all of the chance to talk if that's what you want to do. If one of you wants to attack, just say so and we'll get initiative going. Sound good?

Hey guys, I'm sorry but I think I'm going to need to put things on hold for a bit. Between my busy summer work schedule and taking on what may have been too much (doing an entire adventure path, converting it to 5e and putting in a bunch of changes), I just don't have the time or mental capacity for a real update right now.

No, not ending just need to take a step back for a bit. I did bring this up in the OP (under posting expectations) it's just a little earlier than I expected. I've gotta admit though, I'm kind of regretting taking on something as complex as this and wish I had gone a bit simpler.

With that said, would any of you be interested in doing something different? A module (instead of an entire AP) or something written for 5e?

Well ya, I don't think any of us are manning the barricades shouting "U better giv us something awkwardly converted from a different system into 5E or U R t3h SUX!" =p
I thought that this mod was from 5E, but what do I know?

Anyway, yeah, I find that two things, and these two things only, are needed for a good PbP:
1) The DM is running modules they enjoy and,
2) The player is finding fun running their character.

I like playing the devil-may-care Orion and sending large bolts into bad guys. Hence, anything better than Let's Stack Boxes! would be a good time. ^_^

I know that DM Default is doing a recruitment for a game where he openly will be jumping from module to module, with barely a thread between them. (And I'd join it, but it's in Pathfinder, so, ugh. =p)

If we do end up switching to a module, I wouldn't mind jumping in level to get some fun abilites.


Cool! Well if everyone else is agreeable, I could certainly do a module to module thing. That would definitely be easier for me.

I'm fine with whatever you would like to do. If conversion is taking a lot out of you, I think there's a bunch of quick encounter building guidelines out there. I tend to use this one in my games just to make things easier on me if I want to use some of my older adventures.


Thanks! I use something very similar to that.

The conversion on it's own isn't bad really. It's the combination of 1. Converting editions 2. My own changes to the adventure 3. Trying to GM an entire adventure path by way of PBP.

Anyhoo, if Paddy and Red Feather are on board I'll figure something out soon.

Hey all, haven't forgotten about this. We are in transition in my home group too, (just finished Curse of Strahd) so I'm reading tons of material to figure out what our next campaign will be. Once that is sorted, I'll figure out a good module to pick for this pbp.
