Kyras LeBlanc
"Yes, dough we should be careful. Dere's no sign of a turtle, dat is to say on the surface of de water. Chances are it could be on de bottom."
Provided there's a stone or large pebble lying around, Kyras grabs one and tosses it into the pond. He wisely takes distance.
Chief White Eagle
CWE had been keeping a look out for other dangers. trusting his travel companions to find the turtle.
Elangomat had gone to scout the perimeter
Once the turtle has been found, he calls Elangomat back.
we should be careful. do not get to close.
knowledge nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
CWE readies his Ranseur for battle hoping to take advantage of the weapon's long reach.
Kyras LeBlanc
>.>..... "You're kiddin' right?"
Kyras knows of better ways and starts a few arcane words.
Summon monster III, summoner ability.
After which, a large constrictor snake appears upon the bedding off the pool. It peers down into the water.
"Well, maybe de turtle is territorial and de snake is plenty of lure."
Kyras loads a crossbow bolt as well.
Kyras LeBlanc
Yes, somewhat....and total defense or readied attack if applicable?
Snakes can do that right?...if i may believe my discovery channel.
Coiling to strike whatever comes close.

The Celestial Boa constrictor slithers over to the water's edge and takes a total defense action as a standard action.
With surprising speed Old Crackjaw swims to the edge of the water and snaps at the boa.
Those of you with held actions may attack the turtle. Ac20, F+10, R+5, W+3. After you complete your attacks it will get it's attack on the snake and then we'll proceed to initiative.
If it survives your barrage it will bite the snake for 14 damage , which would leave it bloodied.
Chief White Eagle
White eagle attacks with his ranseur
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
but of course he proves his inability to fight.
Kyras LeBlanc
Kyras knows his aim is usually off, and as such he throws an acid splash at the big thing.
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Dmg?: 1d3 ⇒ 2
It was not to be.
The snake bites back.

CWE tries to flank the turtle hoping to avoid its bite.
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
but yet again CWE has decided to go fishing instead.
Lorald Orlovsky
Lorald reloads with ease from his perch and sends a pair of bolts this time.
Rapid Shot vs Crackjaw AC 19: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 211d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Rapid Shot vs Crackjaw AC 19: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d10 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
One bolt strikes true while the other bounces off the turtles shell with a deep sound.

The boa bites Old crackjaw, but fails to grapple him. The Turtle is bloodied.
Alanya's claws rake the turtle's shell to no effect.
Similarly White eagle's ranseur scratches the creature shell to no effect.
Lorald fires a bolt with great effect at the turtle, but his second one pings harmlessly off the shell.
The beast is greatly injured, but refuses to give up the fight. it snaps down on the boa for 10 damage, returning the creature to it's planar home.
Unable to see Alanya hovering above it the turtle lunges towards White Eagle, preparing to bite him next turn.
It is your turn again.
Kyras LeBlanc
Kyras lobs another bit of acid.
Ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Acid: 1d3 ⇒ 3
The snake makes a second bite attempt.
Snake bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Fangs: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Much to its disappointment, it misses.
Alanya the eidolon
Alright, full attack.
"Better you make haste boys, before the kill is mine ^^"

Too bad.
Chief White Eagle
White Eagle steps back to make use of the weapon's reach and with a forceful jab, he impales the turtle with his Ranseur.
attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
damage: 2d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 3) + 7 = 13
Lorald Orlovsky
Lorald reloads yet again in a practiced and speedy motion. Letting another pair of bolts loose on the reptile.
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Rapid Shot: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Both strike the shell and fail to land in it's flesh.

Kyras' acid burns the creature.
Alanya slips her talons under the edge of the creature's shell and pulls upwards. With a solid grip and exceptional lift she tears the top of the turtle's shell off.
The creature flails and fountains of blood gush from it. White eagle steps in and administers a mercy blow, killing the creature in one slash of his weapon.
Old Crackjaw is slain.
Kyras LeBlanc
The snake remains 5 minutes, summoner thing, useful.
For some reason the snake doesn't eat the turtle.
It coils up, resting, watching for anything else.
"Well, det went smoo'der den expected, tankfullly."
As he examines the turtle's shell, he looks up at CWE.
"Say, you reckon you can remove de shell? Dere was someone who wanted a shell on 'er wall. Den again, you are de one dealin' de final strike."

Having slain the mighty Crackjaw you now have a turtle shell nearly five feet across. You are on the eastern shore of Lake Tuskwater, you can nearly see Freewater on the north shore from here.
You spend the rest of the day exploring the area. That night is quiet. The next day you can follow the shore to the southwest, an area not yet explored. Or southeast away from the lake.
Kyras LeBlanc
Wouldn't wearing something like that look weird, but cool at the same time?
Kyras scribbles down a crude map and orientation points as the group goes.
"Well, a tree dis big is as good a point as any."
Perception on surroundings: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Chief White Eagle
With crackjaw eliminated, CWE removes the shell and stores it away, he also prepares the rest for eating.
survival: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
as the group moves on, CWE continues his normal exploration routine.
sending Elangomat out ahead to scout.
elangomat perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
He prepaes the meat from Crackjaw for the meal as the group rests.
come morning I suggest we follow the shoreline. we have yet to explore that direction
Lorald Orlovsky
Little retcon.
After the turtle is dispatched, Lorald gets down to make a better inspection of it's lair and the area around it. The creature had been a danger for a while after all.
Lorald takes 10/20 on perception to look around the area of Crackjaw. Looking for loot or anything else of interest.
Chief White Eagle
CWE will take a look at the Gem. and with a short shamanic chant any magic contained within the gem is revealed.
cast detect magic
but I can't believe i never put ranks into spellcraft well at least I know if its magical...
Kyras LeBlanc
*Whistles*...has spellcraft... ;)
If CWE is uncertain of what magic is, if any, upon th gems, Kyras volunteers to check.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Otherwise i can try the next day again.
Kyras LeBlanc
Ah, de gem is useful.
"Say, dis gem is neat, shatterin' it can summon a large water elemental."
As they near the shore, Kyras asks upwards;
"Alanya, could you keep watch in case sometin wants to surprise us from de water? Thank you."
<----CotcT, got dragged by a sudden alligator.
