Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt.

Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered.

The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

Hi,

I'm P33J and I'm looking for 4 dedicated posters to tame the Lordless Lands known as the Greenbelt.

I'm looking for people that can post 1/day or more. Who understand that if they are going to be unable to post, they should leave a note and won't be mad if they don't post for more than 2 days in a row, they'll be booted.

In terms of Characters, a party of four who can work together, but each have their own ambition. I don't care if you're an optimizer or if you're a character player, so long as you can role play as well as roll play.

The challenges will be tough, I'm going to rewrite some of the scenarios, and will pull absolutely no punches.

To keep checks from getting in the way, I'll ask players to post a Perception Check and a Sense Motive Check with every post, I'll ask for diplomacy rolls only after you speak (as I give bonuses for smart RP). And we will track resources, because Wizards still need items to cast spells and fighters still need to eat.

Character Creation:
We'll Start At Level 1

Ability Scores:
20 Point Buy. You can't buy a score higher than 18 or lower than 7 before racial adjustments.

Classes: Any Core Class, Base Class or Class from the ACG Playtest guide, except Gunslinger and Summoner (sorry I just don't want to deal with those). Archetypes subject to approval.

Races: Human, Dwarf, Elf, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Gnome and Halfling

Legal Resources: If its in the Paizo SRD it's legal, if not it's not. This includes Story Feats.

2 Traits: Kingmaker campaign, PFS and Paizo SRD are legal.
Character Motivation: 3 Sentences. Where you're from. Why you're coming to the Greenbelt. What is your ambition.

Backstory: I'll ask for this if you are accepted. That way I can build hooks of it secretly.

Let Me know if you've played before, how far you got in. This won't disqualify you, I just want to know how much to twist if I take a vet over a rookie.

House Rules:
HP below 1/2, you're shaken.
Fighters, Clerics, Paladins and Sorcerers get 3 + INT skill points per level.
HP: Max at Level 1, Half at Level Ups
Gold: 150g to Start.
Fighters Get 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency at Level 1 for Free.
Fighters Auto-Qualify for Combat Expertise at Fighter Level 3 regardless of INT.
Story Feats: If you take a Story Feat, I want a story to go with it, 1 paragraph is enough.

Some pointers to get picked.

Don't ask me if you can use something I said isn't allowed. If you're genuinely confused, no problem, send me a pm and we'll figure it out together, but I'm going to auto reject anyone who puts a Goblin Gunslinger or an Aasimar Synthesist in the recruitment thread.

Only apply once.

Be brief with your description, save the prose for the actual RP.

Be polite, don't comment on others submissions, unless it's to compliment them. You criticize someone's build, you're out.

Submissions are Open from now until Jan 1st or until 4 people post submissions so marvelous, I can't help but select them and start immediately, lol.

If you don't get selected, don't take it personally, I can only handle 4 and your character may have even been better, I just latched on to something about one of the other applicants.

Dot.

I'm going to apply with a Swordlord Fighter. This AP needs it. I'll have one ready for you soon.

Edit: Or I can't because It's not in the PRD. Oh well. Maybe I'll come up with something else.

Try here

There is a whole passel of people already created and ready to go looking for a kingmaker game. They just need a GM.

And here is several of them posting and RPing to show their stuff. :)

I was one of the lucky few to get chosen from that group, so looking to help the others find a game.

Silver Crusade

Sir Culer, What's Swordlord Fighter from? I can make an exception for the Archetype that was built for this AP.

Sovereign Court

I think he means this Brevoy: Aldori Swordlord

It's in the Inner Sea Primer. Thanks for the Link, nightdeath. There's a prestige class in Paths of Prestige too. It's available to look at on the d20PFSRD

I might just go with a classic duelist if I have to, I always did like those.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Maps Subscriber

Oh darn. I want to get in this, I really do, but I have told myself to cut back on the games I'm playing and do a better job on the games I'm running. (Maybe adding another of those.) Good luck finding the right crew I'm sure you'll fill up with applicants.

I will save my gnome bard out carousing for a good time for later.

Description: Furnok is a rough looking young man who has a small scattering of scars on his tanned features and looks somewhat older than
his 18 years. he keeps his hair in a short mop in order to keep it out of combat and makes sure his weapons and armor are spotless.
Background:Furnok grew up near Restov and had a simple and hard life as a lad whose parents encouraged him to join the militia at
a young age and he took well to the scouts but loved the up-front life of a frontline battler and melded the skills of scout and soldier
together. Instead of joining the army, he decided to become a bounty hunter for a while and see what the world has to offer.
Motivation:Furnok is currently trying to hone his skills and will seek to capture any outlaws in the Greenbelt for the experiance. His ambition might eventually be to the head of a bounty hunter organization

My plan is a human tattooed sorcerer. Tommy the Scribe was the bastard son of Brevan noble and carries the locket left to him by his mother who died in childbirth. Denied at birth, Tommy aspires to prove himself to the nation of Brevoy that discarded him and forced him to work at the drudgery of scribing stacks of legal documents. Inspired by Cayden, the god that epitomized that luck can always change your circumstances for the best, Tommy waited for the perfect opportunity to leave his job and make his fortune. The Charter seemed to good to be true: the rumors of land waiting for the Brevan flag and only a minor bandit problem to overcome. He tends to talk at good game and sweet-talked his way into getting ahold of a charter.
Tommy can be the party face and primary arcane spellcaster. He is planning to be blaster because battlefield control and summoning is so overdone.
I played Kingmaker and got half way through book 2.

I'm currently working on a paladin for this. I should have it up in a few hours.

Holiday stuff is what is delaying a lot of my character making at the moment. Only two days to go...

Silver Crusade

No worries take your time. Sir Culer Swordlord is approved, and Paths of Prestige are approved, I forgot the Paizo SRD doesn't do Primer and Paths

I would like to submit Dweo Mercraeft for your consideration. His motivation, character sheet, description, personality and level progression are in his profile. I've never played the Kingmaker AP.

I am also interested, and have a character build/background I really like from a previous recruitment thread, but mine, too, was based on the swordlord archetype (and plans for the swordlord Prestige Class).

They really are NOT designed for this AP, but the AP starts in the center of training for specifically that style of fighting (Restov). Thus, it seems a natural thing to look at building for the AP.

That other set of character construction rules was very generous, so I need to trim the build back to your more traditional levels.

You indicate that if it is in the SRD it is good, but I want to ask to make sure . . .. Are you allowing Drawbacks and the resulting additional Trait?

Dropping my existing background to 3 sentences is going to be the most challenging aspect of this rework, actually.

I will post the material in spoilers a little later.

That didn't take anywhere near as long as I was afraid it might.

Three sentences: Born to power and wealth, and a reputation for avoiding confrontation, Josef Orlovsky had a problem maintaining that reputation. He ended up following his great-uncle's path, and took Mikael's original dueling sword as a calling card when he reported as a student to the Aldori Dueling school that Mikael helped found. The Orlovsky's saw the announcement of an expedition to tame the wild lands as a way to channel Josef's "unusual energies" in a way that could help the family, and thus sent him along to either make the family a fortune, or die.

While focusing on one individual or object, the paladin does not detect evil in any other object or individual within range.
Smite Evil (Su): Once per day, works against evil targets, charisma bonus to attack and damage rolls, bonus increases by +2 against evil outsiders and undead and dragons, deflection bonus to armor against target equal to charisma modifier.

Three sentences: Kyra is from a small village, located near a larger city. She is headed out to the Greenbelt to help bring law and order to the area, as well as to spread the ideals of compassion and goodness. Her ambition is to help found a temple that will aid and protect the common people.

I've not actually played Pathfinder before, though I have applied to a couple of games, and I am completely unfamiliar with Kingmaker, though I have seen its name bandied around a few times. I'm hoping I am accepted so I may try it.

My Submission.
Brok Thundershams
Was built for another campaign but can I rebuild him.

Enora has always stood strong and proud, but more importantly has remained devoted to her family and to Erastil. When her family comes across some hard times the inability of her sibling to “rock the boat” frustrates Enora to no end. She decides to take up her bow in service of the family and Erastil, and bring the fight to new pastures so that the family can be once again “High Above.”

Liberty's Edge

I would like to make a submission for this game. I am actually running a group through right now, but I have really wanted to play! I hope that this does not disqualify me from a possible part in this adventure.

I'm posting my interest with Kern Therensgard.
Human Wizard (Transmuter), but with a martial outlook.

Kern is a bastard of House Surtova, sent away before birth to avoid embarrassment. As requested, I'm holding off on posting the full back story. In short, he is out to prove to the Surtova family that they made a mistake in rejecting him.

I have GM'd the AP (my group is just starting Book 5), but I feel I can keep that knowledge compartmentalized.

only experience with kingmaker didn't go past the first combat encounter alas... GM your review?

Is this Kingmaker different than the normal one? I don't know anything about the Greenbelt and haven't played Kingmaker before.

Three sentences: The son of retired adventurers, Yvgeni grew up on a small family farm in Rostland. His devotion to Erastil compels him to protect the innocents and their homes and communities, leading him to seek out and accept the charter to cleanse the Stolen Lands. He seeks to one day become a Master within Deadeye's Yeomen (information on this homebrew organization is found in the character profile) as well as find a wife and start a family.

I played almost to the end of the first book (I assume, since my character was third level when the game died), but that was shortly after the AP came out many years ago, and much of the detail is foggy.

Silver Crusade

Just some minor edits to encounters, some side hooks that I'm adding, nothing too drastic Mekura, but enough that the people who have played, will get some surprises.

Ah. Then I'll have a profile for you shortly.

Edit: Also, are there ways to counteract the shaken status? For example, could a bard remove it? I'd assume a Paladin's fear immunities would qualify? It would just seem unfair if you're, say, a fighter with a +10 against fear and automatically gain the status without a save.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A young woman from a far off-land, who through a twist of fate escaped death and received teaching from a man who taught her the meaning of power, and how only those who receive out and take what they desire can gain anything. A bandit until an offer of wealth and prestige comes before the woman, who finds the local thieves becoming increasingly murderous towards her. In the River Kingdoms, she sees an opportunity unfolding, her masters word's echoing in her mind...

In order to conquer your fears, you must first conquer the world

Faore is a LE Hungry Ghost archetype monk. Stats on profile, hopefully nothings an issue. Included drawbacks in her stats since you didn't say no to them yet. As aforementioned, I have yet to play Kingmaker. Her build has her as an aggressive striker, but she's also capable of being a scout and is geared towards enemy disruption, specifically trip play~ My first monk.

LG Paladin with the Divine Hunter Archetype
Traits: Natural-Born Leader and Noble Born (Orlovsky)
I would see Enora commanding archer troops in defense of the land.
Feats: Archer or Leadership related
Where you're from: from a large Orlovsky family with a number of more influential male siblings who like the status quo and who are very risk adverse.
What is your ambition: to prove her worth to her family and to Erastil.
I have played PBPs but never Kingmaker though I have played in one Kingdom building PBP with no specific rules where the DM disappeared after a few weeks.

Silver Crusade

The shaken status won't be fear based so it can't escalate, and I may remove it, if it doesn't work the way I figured, removing it just requires healing

Silver Crusade

Drawback for a third trait is fine :)

Hi there, I am thinking of applying with a fighter focusing along mounted combat. Is the Fighter's Roughrider Archetype and acceptable Archetype?

So I assume the 'shaken' from 1/2 HP is effectively 'battered' (physically based, paladins not immune, stacks with fear effect, etc), just with the same mechanical effects as shaken?

(Makes sense, just want to get it right in my head)

Sovereign Court

I present Brok Thundershams respeced for this campaign.

Brok Thundershams

Questions posed to Brok:
Where you're from?
Brevoy....at least it's still was when I left.

Why you're coming to the Greenbelt?
To live and maybe find something better like gold would be good as a start.

What is your ambition?
Staying alive as long as possible.

Dragoon Fighter/Cavalier/rogue. Yeah This one is all out brigand but one trying to escape.

Silver Crusade

Exactly Ramarren. It's just something I wanted to try out, I'm going to apply it to the bad guys too, to give you an idea of when you're wearing them down. I may change it to a 1/4, half might cause fights to get really drawn out lol.

A bit of a hint, I don't believe in using one BBEG for encounters, you're going to be fighting groups. Packs of Wolves, Mating Pairs of Owl Bears, Wizards and their Guards, Dragons and their thralls, etc. So feats like Cleave and spring attack shouldn't necessarily be overlooked. There will be plenty of combat in open areas, so your mounted characters will have plenty to do as well.

Yep Paranoid. Not too trusting is he. :P

Added that in as I realised with you pointing out it isn't in.

I'll toss my hat into the ring with a dwarven zen archer monk. I've picked up the wisdom made flesh trait to grab disable device for some extra utility along with maxed perception and sense motive.

Three sentences:
1: Torin hails from Brunderton where he is affiliated with the local mining consortium.
2: He is coming to the Greenbelt to scout out mining resources so the consortium can get a jump on any potential mining operations.
3. His personal ambition is to become wealthy enough that he can devote himself completely to his pursuit of self-perfection. Maybe found a monastery.

Just so you know, my RPG knowledge consists almost entirely of book-learning. Here's hoping I get more experience.
Below is my submission, an urban druid who operates like a rogue. She can be handy as a support as well.

Mind, I'm still working on the gear. I do have the three questions ready, though.

Where're you from? "Magnimar, in western Avistan."
Why're you coming to the Greenbelt? "The souls here need tending to."
What is your ambition? "I wish to propagate the ways of the Green Celestials." (She wants to be a mastermind cult leader. "Green Celestials" is her term for whichever empyreal lords she can associate, however tangentially, with nature worship.)

The Exchange

Dotting. I want to try out the new Slayer class. Covers survival skills, tracking, trapfinding, and ranged DPS.

The Exchange

Question is it a story feat in exchange of or in addition to a regular feat also will here be leadership I am planning on making a dwarf cleric of Abadar. Nobility and Travel domains.

Silver Crusade

Leadership will be allowed. Story feats are in place of another feat.

The Exchange

Darvan Jullies, male human slayer. Melee/ranged switch-hitter with a bit of tracking. Background to come.

He is from Braganza one of the centers of worship of Abadar.

The spread of civilization is one of the primary tenets of Abadar and he has his own view on how these tenets should be understood.

Prove his own views correct and the foolishness of he Prince-Archbanker of Braganza.

I have never played kingmaker but am involved in a pathfinder kingdom building homegame.

I also have an idea for a story feat I want to go for at lvl 5 should I put up the paragraph now wait to see if I am chosen.

Silver Crusade

Fren go ahead and put it up, if I choose you, I'll want to be preparing for it :D

Silver Crusade

Tiasar, I like the build for Darvan, do you have a Backstory yet? The three sentence paragraph?

Silver Crusade

Just want to say, every build I've seen so far is GREAT! And I'm already regretting only taking 4, but I know I can't do more than 4 and more than 1 campaign at a time. Maybe we can talk Dr. Evil to run a Kingmaker campaign for those who don't get in :D

If I haven't replied to your build, it's because I haven't noticed anything that requires a question yet. So don't fret.

This seems to be a common problem with Kingmaker. Every recruitment thread seems to get swamped with applications and nobody can handle the presented desire for play opportunities.

I hope everyone enjoys the day, whether you see it as a religious celebration, a retail celebration, or just a nice day off from work. A happy Ho-Ho to one and all!

The Exchange

Christmas and whatnot, little too busy. I am brainstorming and have a great idea in mind. Expect something late tonight (in 12 hours roughly)

Nemesis (Story)

Spoiler:

A past enemy seeks your ruin.

Prerequisite: You must have at least one enemy who wishes to cause you great harm. If you have multiple enemies, the GM may keep the specific nemesis secret, or have many of your enemies work together against you. If your nemesis is not already a challenging foe, it either advances in strength to become a challenging foe or allies with others to achieve a higher challenge rating.

Benefit: Having a nemesis drives you to excel in training. For each new level you gain in a favored class, including the level you gained when you chose this feat, you can choose two benefits instead of one. One of these benefits must be either a bonus hit point or a bonus skill point, even if other options are available.

Goal: Slay your nemesis. Causing your nemesis's death through your direct actions qualifies even if you do not strike the fatal blow, but another killing your nemesis without your involvement doesn't count.

Completion Benefit: You gain a +2 inherent bonus to an ability score of your choice. In addition, you may retroactively apply your extra favored class benefit to the favored class levels you gained before taking this feat.

Special: Thwarting your plans becomes an all-consuming goal for your nemesis. Your nemesis gains a +2 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls against you. Whatever you try to achieve, your nemesis seeks to tear down.

I plan on grabbing this as my lvl 3 or 5 feat depending on how long it takes to meet the prereqs.

Story

Spoiler:

A dwarf is shouting at a man in the splendid robes of an Archbanker of Abadar.

It is Taxfest(real Golorian holiday) you should be listening to the people of the city not your damn sycophants.

The dwarf waves his arm at the collected group of clerics and businessmen. The man closest to the Archbanker stands up.

Be silent you are speaking to Prince-Archbanker Cole Ravnagask, the ruler of Braganza in Molthune, holder of the original copy of Abadar's holy book, The Order of Numbers. you are just a lowly cleric just mast you novitiate.

The dwarf gets up and shouts

This is pointless you need to stop building The city is barely half full and you have commissioned another dozen buildings. "frequently shed the skin of the old and clothe itself in the finery of the new." doesn't mean never stop building especially since you are making this place a ghost town.

At this Cole Ravnagask raises his hand for silence even the enraged dwarf quiets as he speaks.

I am in charge of these land Fren. If you believe me wrong prove it. I charge you to build a city greater than this and I will follow your advice I swear this to Abadar.

He smirks at the dwarf

Now be gone take nothing from my lands but what you have on you and do not return, laugh until you prove me wrong.

Farn left the halls and traveled looking for the opportunity to complete his task.

Not noticing the glares from the business men at the feast. And the greed laced worry in their eyes. (They sell building supplies Cole's reign is a gold mine for them.) But as he traveled there was incident after incident, horses with cut girths, wagons with broken reins and a whole inns worth of people nearly dead of poison. He realized that people were after him and he needed to protect himself while completing his mission. He found the charter of the Swordlords of Restov to be the safest place to be since the bandits would keep his new compatriots on their toes without him having to mention the assassins plaguing him.

Silver Crusade

Nemesis would be fine, I'll provide a Nemesis, I assure you :D
