While Eben is pleased to not have to fight the scary snake lady, he is hesitant to get closer to her personal space, seeing as 2/3 of the people who did so before him seem to have found a new religion. He steels himself, sets his mind firmly on the objective of just getting through the room without falling in love with all things naga, and steps forward. And in his ignorance, doesn't bother averting his gaze.

He feels himself pulled into her eyes, but pulls himself back out, somewhat easier than he thought he would. Still, he makes a mental note not to make eye contact on the way back through the room.

"What a niiiice lady!" he cheerfully says, deciding he may as well play along with those who did get mind whammied. "Now, did she say she smelled brimstone from here? Rodrigo, could that be a summoning thing? Demons or devils or whatever?"

The Gateway Grove, The Isle of Last Resort

The party moves on, leaving Fassash to carefully inspect her new treasure.

The cavern opens up to a vast chamber, over forty feet in height with a shelf twenty feet above the floor off to one side. A short cage containing pent-up livestock (a few half-starved pigs and a cow) has been constructed to the left of the entrance. A parred off passageway is set into the south wall. Darkness hangs over the area like a protective shawl, though it is no veil against the enchanted eyes of the party (nor the half-orcish eyes of Astraden, though she can't see much yet).

Aside from the animals, within the chamber are ten creatures.

Four drow stand up on the raised area. Flasks and bags are clutched in their hands, ready to throw. Rapiers are at their sides, and they wear buckler shields.

Down on the ground, two more drow, both female, stand brandishing falchions. Their enraged expressions are similar to that of Spiny when someone tried to take a meal away, or Kullen when he fought the party back in Diamond Lake.

They flank a seventh dark elf. She is clearly the drow's leader—though easily the shortest in the room, she gazes upon the invaders with utter disdain and not a trace of fear. She wears studded leather armor that seems wreathed in shadows, and in both hands she grips a heavy mace. This is Myrianaas, priestess of the Demon Queen of Spiders.

The last three creatures in the room are different. One of them, a tiny winged green demon with ram horns, sits upon the priestess's shoulders clutching a wand apparently carved from bone.

The second looks like an oversized black goat with three horns and jet black, glossy hooves. It exhales a wispy cloud of putrid black smoke as it breathes.

The third stands just over three feet tall. The bestial humanoid wears filthy, tattered robes and has blue-gray skin decorated with strange, coiling stripes. Dark fur grows on its head and arms, and its feet end in burning hooves. Its eyes glow as red as the flaming sword it wields in one hand, and its breath fills the surrounding air with noxious gray smog.

The priestess gives a wan smile when she sees Farrukh (and his archon companion) round the corner. "At last. You have arrived."

Round 1: Drow

The priestess clasps her hand to her spider-shaped holy symbol, eyes squeezed shut. "Lolth, Weaver of Chaos, Your Eightfold Majesty, grant your servant the strength and divine power she needs to smite these crusaders of blinding light and burning righteousness." The symbol glows, and Myrianaas's shadow seems to lengthen slightly, her body taking on a pale glow.

Up above, the four drow hurl their flasks and bags. The flasks aim for the archon over Farrukh's head, while the tanglefoot bags aim for Farrukh.

Once the first volley has been thrown, Myrianaas points her mace forward and shouts a command. The two drow beside her hold back, readying their falchions—barely containing their rage, it seems.

Round 1: Demons
The small humanoid points up at Tanith, giving a cruel giggle, and fires off a tiny ray of runes.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 CL: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Despite Tanith's protective magics, the spell barely hits. He feels the magics around him struggling to remain cohesive. Fortunately, the ray just barely winged him, and is unable to get a foothold. The demon below curses.

The goatlike demon takes a more practical approach. It snarls and charges straight at Farrukh.

Charging Bite: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 1) + 5 = 12 Make a Fortitude save vs. disease.

"Well technically they heard us coming." Astraden focuses her mind on the shoddy mask draped around her neck, then releases a wave of very violet light that seems to linger around the two abyssal minions.

She then steps up around the corner, hoping the goat-fiend is too frightened to attack her. "Are you Brandr or Nechemyah, foul thing?"

Action point (7/8) for Alignment Channel (evil) (4/6). DC 17 Will save or be panicked as Turn Undead. Movement provokes from the one next to Farrukh, if it is still able to attack. May be squeezing in my new square.

Eben runs north and around the corner, his hands playing with the buttons on the glass rod as he goes. Just as he sprints into the big room, his form fractures into mirror image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 five seperate Ebens. He casually drops the rod in the doorway by Astraden, calling to her as he does, "Use that if you need to!" Then, his now free hand reaching behind him, he pulls an arrow from his quiver and nocks it to his bow, staring at the little miniature monster ahead. "Is that a demon? I hope it's a demon, because, y'know. Cold iron!" He then shoots an arrow made of the aforementioned metal at it.

D'oh. Just realized I forgot to cast gravity bow before the fight as well. Damn, so many buffs to remember...

Regardless of whether it hits the creature or not, the arrow disappears in a burst of twinkly blue lights at the end of its flight and reappears in Eben's quiver, unharmed. As he comes to a halt, he turns to present his profile to the room, his frame once again taking on a dancer's stance.

Swift action: cast quickened mirror image, using an AP to save the slot. Move action: move 25 feet. (May provoke up to twice from the goat thingy if Astraden didn't scare it off & if it has AoO's remaining.) Standard action: shoot at mini-minotaur thingy. (May provoke again from goat thingy if it isn't scared away & has combat reflexes or something.) Free action: activate Dance of 23 Steps.

Heroism lasts 672 and 673 rounds, dancing lights lasts 9 rounds, cat's grace lasts 44 rounds, good hope lasts 45 rounds, abundant ammunition lasts 68 rounds, mirror image lasts 70 rounds. Mirror image has 4 images remaining, AC is 23/18/15 while Dance of 23 Steps is active.

The goat demon is a mehrim, a scavenger demon. They possess a diseased bite and, like most demons, are extremely hard to injure without cold iron. DR 10.

Eben fires an arrow into the small humanoid's chest.

Farrukh, Tanith, Carina and Rodrigo are up.

The dispelling demon doesn't have a wand. The little green one on Myrianaas's shoulder does, however.

Astraden:
The tiny green one is a quasit—a spy and scout capable of turning invisible. It possesses a mild poison that slows down muscle responses.
The unidentified demon was casting dispel magic.
The priestess was casting divine power.

I don't think it hit, no. I was in a hurry, so I put all the information there just in case.

Brief note on bull rushing: Because you're entangled, you can't follow the mehrim for even a five-foot bull rush, though your two bashes were high enough to wrangle fifteen feet total otherwise. I had your last attack move it back, though.

This is all academic, though.

Myrianaas, meanwhile, steps forward. She clasps her unholy symbol once more and, with a flash, releases a blast of demonic energy. All the adventurers of good or structured souls can feel their strength waning, while the dark elves and demon seem to thrive on the power.

The two archons are particularly hard-hit by the attack. They struggle against it, flickering mightily. One survives; the other winks away in mere seconds.
