One of the guards, a short fellow in a helmet three sizes too large with pointed ears, holds up a thin hand to the other members of his squad.
"Hold on. I've got this."
The slight elf steps up to your gathered group and asks, "Now what seems to be the problem here, you lot?"
For the moment, his club stays tucked away on his belt.

Shauldrek |

The large-muscled red man puts a hand in front of Laurentii, changing his look for a a look on his face that says, thanks, but now's not the time.
Shauldrek grins and takes a step back while cleaning the pulp off his fist. When the smallish guard asks his question, Shauldrek is more than willing to answer him.
"Thank you for coming, officer. I'd like to report an extortion. This self-important bigot overpriced his goods for a half-elf simply for being what he is." As if to drive home his point, the hungerseed crosses his arms showing off his asymmetry; and tilting his head to the right so the gems in his right forehead to glint in the light.

Elric Woodborne |

Elric nods at Shauldrek's words.
He's correct. We came in from a caravan out of Sandpoint, and I happened to overhear this merchant trying to sell to a half elf for exorbitant prices, and then used horribly offensive language with us when we tried to figure out the situation.
As if to accentuate Elric's words, Anto Waumph's and slaps the ground with his paw. He then sits back, looking satisfied with his contribution to conversation.

Laurentii |

Seeing Shauldrek motionning him to stop, Laurentii puts back his purse on his belt. As the the tiefling, Elric, and Anto present the situation to the guard, Laurentii nods in agreement.
As for the merchant, his face flushes with anger as facts are exposed and with Laurentii taking his proposition back. Worst, it becomes red when he notices that the leader of the guards is an elf.
"This is a free market, I sell to whoever and for whatever price I want. Kni.. Guards, they are the ones who cause problems and keep saying that I am selling bad apples. They even tried to intimidate me and destroyed my stuff. " he says, waving his arms around.
Laurentii goes on nodding.
Note to self: Bluffing can backfire, be careful with the lies.
Trying to keep himself from dancing from foot to foot due to a mix of anxiety and excitement, Laurentti addresses the head guard:
"Well, its not entirely true, we were simply haggling, trying to get apples for a reasonable prices. Its just that the man here he points to Shauldrek got a bit carried away." he finishes, his voice betraying at tinge of excitement.
@Trux/Ouisky: I modified Laurentii's alias to have a line clearly specifying his motivation.

Is Trig complete? Just checking before recruitment closes.
Laurentii wrote:Trux, please do tell me if anything is missing.Sorry all, but I don't want to be giving you feedback on your submissions other than to clear up what is acceptable or not. Everyone is expected to have complete applications by the end of recruitment ...
I would like to straight-up avoid giving y'all feedback on your submissions. It's a personal responsibility tick.
So, to be Socratic, Trig, do you meet the requirements I stated above?

"Sir" Trig Jegman |

Well, It seems I forgot to take max starting gold, Weird. I'm almost positive I did. Anyway I bought some new armour with the extra gold.
Other than that, I think he's good. 15 point-buy, Max hp, traits, personality and motivation on his profile.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything. Good luck to all who applied.

Shauldrek |

Can't wait to hear/read the results!
"I might've gotten a bit hot under the collar, but as far as destroying his merchandise goes, that's an out-right lie! The slovenly state of his table is his own responsibility."
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
The guard looks at the larger red man with the strange face intently, and back at the merchant as if to determine who's story to believe.
[dice=Sense Motive, NPC Codex "Guard"]1d20+4[/dice]
The guard turns to the merchant and says, "You may have the right to set prices and refuse service, but you do not have the right to charge extra to some over others. That is extortion. You also do not have the right to lie to a guardsman. So I'll need to place you under arrest for extortion and obstruction of justice." He nods tersely in the man's direction and two other guards clack manacles on him and carry him away to his ridiculous and loud protest.

Elric Woodborne |

Elric watches the event unfold Shauldrek convinced the guard of the merchant's guilt, and thinks to himself
Shauldrek always was a tricky one. Makes him good in these types of situations, I guess. I just wish Shalelu had come on this one and let me and Anto watch the wilds. This is definitely not my strong suit. Ah well. It's only for a short while longer...
Anto, bored with the proceedings now that all the excitement has died down, goes back to watching the meat vendor, and Haaarummmph's longingly.

Laurentii |

The turn of event caused by Shauldrek's lie greatly surprises Laurentii, as evidenced by his arched eyebrows.
Oooh... Quite impressive, although dangerous. Yet, considering the city's law, the merchant could get in more trouble than he deserves. I guess I will have to stop by the jail to see whether a bribe is needed...
"So hummm, its getting late, how about I show you the way to the Old Fang? I heard the food is good there." he says, hopeful to finally get a close look of the uncommon members of the group tiger, dragon, kobold and tiefling..

Alright,
Thanks everyone for waiting. We were heavy on the martial, light on the divine this go-round. Together we have dragons, oni-spawn, kitsune, and even a well-meaning local lumberjack.
This was a tough call. I'm a fan of a lot of the content I've reviewed these recent days.
We're taking in good and evil.
Our one player who reserved a seat on this journey is again Lou Kasuri, chef of the Rusty Dragon.
Our magical expert will be Alfonso the petulant fop who is more than he seems.
Our steadfast knight will be "Sir" Trig Jegman the flamboyant cavalier who charges on exotic mounts.
Our quick-witted swashbuckler will be Laurentii the forlorn librarian who lives life to the fullest.
And finally, our capable guide is Shalewen the stealthy sniper who works the hidden paths.
Thank you everyone. Players have messages in their PM inbox.
If I get Jade Regent Mark II up in the future, or should anyone drop out, you fine applicants will be some of the first to know.
May the grey light guide you,
-O.
