Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Hedran cleaves deeply into the Tendriculous and it releases Grenwold and flops on the ground.

Fenton stabs at the downed plant, then Cavall rips it apart.

After Hedran's attack it would be at 67 lethal, 21 non lethal. Insufficient regeneration to cover through all that, so it would still be unconscious after it's turn, and thus easily finished off.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Searching for Vardalel, the party eventually finds him at the top of a pine tree. "You know, I saw that huge monster plant, didn't want to become lunch, so I hid up a tree?" He tells the party sheepishly.

Grand Lodge

Male Dhampir DEAD

Nigel nods to Vardalel.

"Probably a vise move."

He then heads back to the keep.

I believe the idea was to do some scribing today / go over the place with a fine tooth-comb to make sure we didn't miss Ciero's equipment, then head on to the next place?

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

"So when are you going to be taking me to Misthome and out of this wood full of monsters?" Vardalel asks Nigel."And are you going to be leaving me out here in the woods all day?"

Grenwold examines the tracks leading out of the keep, even though the scene is now a mess of overlapping paw prints, hoof prints, boot prints from fight between the tendriculous and party. Among the fresh tracks, Grenwold finds several pairs of unsteady, small barefoot prints, which he recognizes belongs to the drunken korreds leading into the Fangwood, in a northerly direction. He finds another set of 3 small leather shoe prints leading into the Fangwood, in a southerly direction, and last of all a set of large boot prints made by the Ohancanu heading in a western direction further into the Fangwood.

Which prints if any, do you want to follow?

Searching the place inside out, while avoiding the Basildirond and Bristle’s workroom, the party does not manage to find Cirieo’s equipment.

That’s 4 hours later for full search.

In the middle of the search (2h) for Cirieo’s equipment, Nigel's wolves start howling outside the door.

wolf:

We spotted a place where there was a large forest fire. There were two two legger bodies on top of a burnt tree.

Grand Lodge

Male Dhampir DEAD

Nigel goes out, and scratches them behind the ears affectionately.

Wolf:
"Thank-you for letting us know."

He then reports back to the others.

"Apparently, a section of ze forest vas burnt down, and zere are a few humanoid corpses zere."

Seeing Hedran sceave the plant monster in two, Ratel smiles, "Well struck, Hedran." He then returns to the barrels and finishes moving the. As Grenwold begins to study the tracks Ratel tells him. While you study the tracks, I will make more mutagen, yell if you need help." Ratel then sits down in the courtyard, drawing out the equipment he will need from his pack and mixes more mutagen.

After finishing the mutagen Ratel naps for a couple of hours until he hears the wolves howling. Waking himself in enough time to hear Nigel's explanation he asks, "Should we check out the section of the forest burning first, or return to Misthome? We could leave Vardalel here until we are ready to go back to town."

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

"I don't think we should leave Vardalel here. If a Tendriculous could wander in while we were here, what else could be lurking around?" Father Noelan puts in. "If it's a wyvern, hiding in a tree isn't going to help matters."

Party has spent 5 hours in the keep total before setting off again.

Also, what are you doing with the oxen? There are consequences on how you do your camps etc.

As the party sets off out of the keep, Vardalel tags along with them, deciding he party travels for another 3 hours following Nigel's wolves, before it gets too dark for the humans to proceed and the party takes a rest for the night.

"Thank you, Ratel but It was a lucky shot."

Hedran knocks on the wizard's door. "Hello sir, I would like to take you up on your offer to scribe some spells."

Hedran scribes as the other search.

Blade Tutor's Spirit
Burning Hands
Chill Touch
Haste
Dispel Magic

(210gp) + 600 in additional supplies for future scribing + 1 blank spell book? 15gp

Hedran look's up from his work and asks, "Do you have a blank spellbook? I would happily give you 15gp for it."

Later "Thanks for searching without me. How did it go? I think these are going to really help us...once I figure out how to cast them. The wizard gave me lots of ideas to help plan for future encounters."

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

5 hours spent at the keep, a level 3 spell takes 3 hours. Once a wizard understands a new spell, he can record it into his spellbook.
Time: The process takes 1 hour per spell level. You do not get 5 spells in 5 hours.

Bristle takes the gold pieces and passes Hedran a blank spellbook. "Here just take it and keep copying, and don't disturb my work.",as he looks up from the mannequin.

The wooden structure is a stable if you want to use it, but let's just say leaving Oxen in the open is a very bad idea.

"Swarms are common in the woods I have learned a spell that can help but more prep is needed."

"We should start looking into flight."

@Nigel "Nigel you have some magical aptitude I have seen how easily you use wands what type of training do you have? I have never seen anyone without magical ability use a wand without using the trick I use to use cleric wands (UMD). Maybe those skills could help cover some of our limitations."

"Finally, we should set out some basic marching orders so we are not just walking in a clump. We should avoid lines an circles."

What is it going to take to have the PCs make perception check for danger? Hedran and weasel would like to be making perception check regularly considering we are in dangerous areas.

@ Robert Twigjacks are fey, so I think your damage should be higher.

”Well, let us finish up our work here and see if we can track down the other rangers, and then we can all go to Misthome in a few days. Maybe there’s some ore there you could buy or have. I’m sure they’d be happy to trade. That said, I think this fort is the property of the Chernasardo Rangers, and there are some survivors of the previous attack. I’m sure that they won’t mind you staying here with them in the short term, but in the long term it’d be a good idea for you to negotiate the terms of staying here - I don’t want anyone to get into a fight.”

Taking a moment to scrape the remains of the fey off of the bottom of his boot, Ratel checks the bodies for anything of value while Cirieo uses the smelling salts to wake Nigel. Once everyone is ready, Ratel continues moving the direction Nigel indicated.

conversation at camp
As Ratel helps set up camp, he hears Hedran talk about magic, and asking Nigel about wands. He shrugs at the question, "You finger wagglers do what you feel is best." he then gestures towards Bear. "Unless you can manifest a breastplate for Bear, then I'd be real interested."

sorry guys, I didn't mean to ignore the questions about spell choices, honestly I don't think Ratel would have much of an opinion about it.

as for perception checks, I believe Mort has us take ten automatically like one of the newer versions of D&D

"I can't really do much about swarms. Blasting isn't what Priests of Erastil are good at." Father Noelan answers.
