Guujaaw
Good day everybody. This is Guujaaw briefly checking in. I'll create a proper alias tomorrow. Happy to be picked.
One question - in the recruitment thread a question was raised as to whether or not M/W books of knowledge were acceptable (they have the limitation that they only work when there is time to consult them. Ie, NOT in combat :-(). I don't overwhelmingly care one way or the other (although obviously I'd prefer they be legal :-)) but I do need to know if I should sell them back :-).
I also have to buy some more stuff. Again, should be done tomorrow
Ruth Gedyhaul
Alright, chipping in now with the proper alias. I check the boards multiple times a day so if anyone has questions, or we want to discuss how/when Ruth gets picked up I should be on top of it shortly.
GM Coyote
Guujaw: I'll allow five knowledge skill books. When you prepare spells, you can take some additional time to study them.
Guujaw and Ruth: I have a plan for how you two will be brought in. It'll be fairly soon.
John Thomas O'Hanallon
A very good welcome to you guys. Excited to see the classes, you will bring a lot.
@Kurok: I won't fight ya on the ring if you want it, just means I will need 5% more healing lol.
Guujaaw
Welcome Ruth and Guujaw!
So for our 'American Expeditionary Force' we have: A British Dhampir archeologist, a Haida witch raised by Orcs, A dwarf apache on a buffalo, an aboriginal elf drake-hunter, an Irish barfly and a Texican ranger... ironic...
LOL :-).
Although, to be vaguely fair, neither Lewis or Clark were born Americans :-) (yes, I'm being silly. The timing meant that they were born as British Colonials :-))
Edit: By the way, I don't like this Icon at all. If anybody happens to have noticed a better one I'm open to suggesions
Guujaaw
Finished updating the character. Made a minor change (raised Craft Alchemy and lowed UMD), added languages, named my diety.
Bought lots and lots of stuff (almost completely scrolls and wands). Note, now have 500 gp in alchemical components so can make stuff if time allows.
There is a reason this character has a Handy Haversack :-)
Please let me know if there are any issues
Guujaaw
I'm kinda guessing that I'm one of the prisoners. Assuming that is correct, am I allowed to act in this battle or would you prefer me not to? Even tied up I can still activate my hexes.
No problem at all if I cannot act or you want me to wait, just thought that I'd check
Ruth Gedyhaul
I was thinking the same thing. Coyote, any chance of you sending a little PM with the info of how we were captured/how long it's been?
GM Coyote
I'll let you act once you're untied. I'll send the PM shorty.
Ruth Gedyhaul
Hey, which colour hit me with the sling? Also, if it's the enfeebled one, sling damage is based off Str so it should be at -2 or -3 I believe from the spell.
Ruth Gedyhaul
Still hoping for clarity on the last question, but adding that I'm a little confued about posting order. Are we playing group initiative or straight initiative?
GM Coyote
Red hit you with the sling, the strength penalty is factored in. It's a bit of a mix of group and straight. Ruth, Zaranna, and Guujaw can all go, then it would be the Mexica warriors, and then it would be John Thomas, Angus, and Kuruk. I just put the initiative in order to keep track of it.
Angus Elphinstone
So, player knowledge, not necessarily character knowledge it looks like there are two Mexica remaining,
When red attacked Kuruk, I assumed that was their round and we are up. Or was it an AOO?
I was waiting to go to see if anyone answered Angus' question about seeing any Mexica, before I went. Do we want to wait for John so we are going in order or does someone else want to go? obviously ignore this question if reds attack was an AOO.
Zaranna
Zaranna is still waiting to see if anyone runs out of the fog... she's not going to go in there.
GM Coyote
So Guujaw acted, withdrawing from the fog to behind Ruth. Because Ruth and Zaranna were holding actions, that was their turn. As the three of them had gone, the Mexica acted. Kuruk, Angus, and John Thomas then acted. So I believe Guujaw missed his action, which I'll say happened before the Mexica. After Guujaw acts, Kuruk, Angus, and John Thomas will be up. My apologies for not being clear.
John Thomas O'Hanallon
Might I suggest some sort of initiative tracker in the GM posts? I use the following as example.
I keep it as a text file and just copy it in rearranging the names for each combat. After the first round the part act together but can see who is up.
Bold may act
Round 1
Ruth, Kuruk, Zaranna
Green, Blue, Red
Angus, Guujaaw, John Thomas
If you don't like it fine by me, there is no pride of authorship.
GM Coyote
That seems like a good idea. I'm not especially experienced with PbP combat, so feedback like that helps a lot.
GM Coyote
I'd certainly hope not.
Angus Elphinstone
Hey, just as a reminder of the alternate history, in the recruitment opening:
So whenThe United States of America: The development of the United States is rather different from our timeline, with the native peoples able to resist many European diseases and incursions with the help of much more powerful magic. The colonists were forced to integrate the natives or buy land, although the colonists were able to buy the Louisiana territory from France and significantly expanded their borders. Slavery was abolished shortly after independence, due to intervention by the freedom-loving azatas. Tales of the west tell of ancient cities built into cliff walls, vast open praries inhabited by fearsome drakes, an elven empire along the sea, and even more outlandish stories.
Mexica Federation: The story of the Mexica, or Aztec to the colonists, is very similar to those of the North American tribes. Spanish settlers arrived and intermingled with the Mexica, forming a unique mixed culture and language, eventually creating the Mexica Federation. Later, Spanish immigrants chose to go north of the Federation to New Mexica, Texas, and beyond, although they were still ultimately governed by the Federation.
I am an elf. I wish for the government of this country to recognize that my people were here before they came, and to negotiate borders with us and recognize our rights if we will join them. I believe Kuruk wishes the same for his people, original and adopted.
Angus would assume that Zaranna's desire would be the governments expectations as well.
John Thomas O'Hanallon
I will be traveling this weekend so at some point I will stop posting and pick back up, most likely, Sunday.
Angus Elphinstone
yeah, I just wanted to type this speech
I'm pleasantly surprised with the diplomacy rolls...
Angus Elphinstone
On a side note, Angus, I’m impressed by the somewhat encyclopedic collection of western clips you’re able to supply.
Thanks I lived a wasted youth. Yeah, and pretty much of my adult life as well...
Still hoping to get that surprise round in :-)
GM Coyote, when I first proposed Angus, I wasn't planning on multi-classing away from slayer. I didn't think about him needing to repair his pistol, or how much he might rely on Marion in combat. Will it bother you if I multi-class into either 'gunslinger' or 'Cavalier' Spellscar Drifter? If he went Cavalier he would take the 'Order of the Dragon' for simplicity sake.
John Thomas O'Hanallon
Ohhh, my fists are now magic weapons. Hello 5th level.
How are we leveling HP?
In Case: 1d10 ⇒ 10
Zaranna
Looked it up, and on the recruiting thread it says "max health at 1st level and half health after that"
Level 5:
HP +5
BAB +1
+11 skill points
+2 to Wyrm Hatred (bonuses v drakes go up to +4)
Get Dragoncrafting (Drakecrafting in this game) with no need for prereqs.
Get a hunter trick. I chose this one: Uncanny Senses (Ex): As an immediate action, the Ranger gains a +10 insight bonus on Perception checks for 1 round.
Feat: Rapid Shot
John Thomas O'Hanallon
Ahh, waste of a 10 then.
+5HP
+1 BAB
New Feats: Improved Grapple and Weapon Focus - Unarmed
Brawler: Unarmed counts as magic for DR and Close Weapon Mastery (will rarely use)
GM Coyote
Angus: I’m just fine with that. I have a Spellscar Drifter in one of my IRL games who’s a ton of fun.
GM Coyote
Kuruk and Guujaw, if you could post your updated stats soonish it'd let us move the game forward.
GM Coyote
Apologies, busy few days. I should have the post up today or tomorrow for the beginning of combat.
GM Coyote
I was intending that you would.
Angus Elphinstone
Hey Coyote, a question on rules:
This pistol has two parallel barrels; each barrel can be fired independently
as separate attacks, or both can be fired at once as a standard action (the attack action).
If both barrels are shot at once, they must both target the same creature or object, and the pistol becomes wildly inaccurate, imparting a –4 penalty on each shot.
Since Angus is taking a standard action he can fire both barrels. But it sounds like he rolls each barrel separately. But since it's effectively the same attack would each get sneak attack? I will roll it showing both getting sneak attack but please let me know, thanks.
Edit:
I've not played this combination before, if I misinterpret something please let me know.
GM Coyote
Yes, it was. Unfortunately. You can go ahead and roll.
