6.555.815.M41, Scintilla, Calixis Sector
After accepting to serve Inquisitor Seth Loki, a man of singular reputation of getting the job done no matter the cost, you are transported to his base of operation, the Blade of Reason, a heavily-modified Falchion class frigate, presently on standby orbiting Scintilla.
You spend weeks training and you are ready.
You are now set to meet the inquisitor for what can only be described as your graduation.
You meet him in his private suite, which has a large floor to ceiling viewport that in turn gives you a breathtaking view of outer space. You need not worry as you are very much aware that adamantium blast shields automatically ward the fragile window should there be a threat.
Inquisitor Seth Loki, a tall man wearing power armor and a scabbarded sword across his back, the inquisitorial rosette gleaming on his chest, beckons you all to him. Besides him is a small antique wooden table. On it are a flask of amasec and five goblets.
"You are ready." A statement not a question.
"Please." He indicates the goblets which are filled with the liquor.
Liam McGregor |
"Don' mind if'n ah do yer lordship. Who knows when yah get tha' chance th' 'ave a drink this fine again?"
Grabbing one of the goblet, Liam grins and steps back, but does in fact have enough restraint to not begin to drink just yet, in case the inquisitor intends this to be a toast.
Roderick Kaplan |
Roderick saunters in, his step pauses momentarily when he sees the inquisitor. His right hand tightens subconsciously. Taking a goblet he finds an appropriate place to lean, one hand lingering casually over an empty holster, long habit and caution schooling him to keep on his guard. "As the Emperor requires of his servant."
Magos Drake |
Having already said his toast, Drake simply imbibes the liquid and puts the goblet back down

The toast done. The inquisitor now leads you all to a pair of armored doors. After some time spent communing with the security terminal, the doors open to reveal an armory with all manner of weapons and protective gear inside. The inquisitor leads you all inside and he gestures to four sets of carapace armor. Upon inspection you all notice that the armor are bereft of any Inquisitorial insignia.
Next, the inquisitor leads you four cases. Each one labeled with a name. The inquisitor asks that each of you take a look at the case assigned to you.

Drake moves over and opens up the case that was designated to his person

Opening his case and finding a pair of matching bolt pistols, Liam grins happily, pulling them out and examining them carefully.
"Aw, yer lordship, yer too kind th' me, wiv these toys, Ah'll be sure tha put some big 'oles in the emp'rors enemies."
Sergeant Zek |
"You have my thanks, Inquisitor. Truly, I can bring the pain to your enemies with this weapon!"
Zek's face lights up in joy as he beholds the longlas. He wastes no time inventory in the weapon, assembling it ans checking it if time allows.
Will the case serve as a suitable transport method while disassembled? Similar to Agent 47s sniper rifle in a briefcase?
Roderick Kaplan |
Roderick examines the cloak, feeling it's weave between his fingers, nodding he shifts eyes to the pistol. His movements are practiced, he checks safety, charge counter, and sights. Half satisfied he ejects the charge pack and licks the connections, the familiar tingle in his tongue telling him how full it is. He flicks the gun between both hands checking the weight and feel of the weapon before sliding it into his empty holster. The size is a bit off, this holster meant for his stowed autopistol, but the fit is snug and secure.
"Seeing the carapace armor and that" he indicates Drake's power blade, "I'm curious as to what we're pursuing, there's a fair price to our combined gear and we've heard little of the mission."
Radavel |
"Do not fret. The Emperor demands a thing and you shall recover it for Him. This ship is presently on the way to translation point and we shall be on the way to the star system, where a derelict is soon to exit from the warp. We must be there before others come seeking the same thing we do."
"I trust the dangers of the unknown is no problem."
Magos Drake |
"We shall procure what is needed of us." he stops to think for a moment
"A derelict ship? What do we know of the corpse?"

Magos Drake |
"I hope to ease it's spirit. It is bound to be corrupted. We shall have to tread with care" he states after the information was given

You arrive at an unknown star system. Time elapsed unknown. Apparently, almost everything onboard the Blade of Reason is unreasonably labeled on a "need to know" basis.
The frigate then begins its sublight journey to what appears to be an asteroid field.
The inquisitor stands looking at a holo display at the bridge. With a lord-captain's baton in his right hand, he waves at the animated vista before you.
"Gentlemen, our quarry is within an asteroid field. Your thoughts on how best to approach it."
Sergeant Zek |
"Understood. I was speaking of the asteroid field. If that is not an issue, boarding torpedoes will grant us speed and immediate access, while a shuttle or pinnacle would allow a more controlled approach and direct exfil opportunity."
Zek looks at the asteroid field, trying to see a passage through towards the target.
"Can we safely approach through that morass?"
Radavel |
"I see what you have in mind. Yes, firing on the asteroid is also what I have in mind. And after clearing a path, your team can go meet our quarry in the gunship. Sound good?"
Without waiting for your answer, "Master of Ordnance, arm Shard Batteries One and Two. Clear me a path."
"Aye sir."
Moments later, a brilliant display of Imperial might can be seen out the viewscreen.
Liam McGregor |
"Oooooh, now that is wha' Ah call a big gun!"
Liam's eyes are wide and shining with almost childish delight at the display.
"Us Imp'rials know how th' make a grand en'rance don' we?"
Sergeant Zek |
"Understood. Any intelligence on this ship's history? Obviously, the Warp will have twisted and corrupted whatever is on there, but any information may be helpful."
Zek grabs a microbead from his gear bag, then turns to the others.
"Anyone else on comm? I'm on channel Beta-2, encryption Amber-7-Alpha."
Once at the boarding area, Zek assembles h is new longlas, stowing his ammunition in easy grab. He also slides his revolver and knife into their respective holsters, with ammo stored in pockets. Slinging his shogun and checking his armor integrity, he signals his readiness to board the shuttle. He clips his mask to his belt and stows the rest of his gear in a sturdy backpack.
Liam McGregor |
"Yah, Ah gots me a microbead as well, 'ang on...found ya!"
Once inside the gunship, Liam checks his weapons, knife, club, dual laspistols, autogun, shotgun and his new prized bolt pistols.
"Ah doubt this'll be fun, but 'ope is tha last fing th' abandon man they said in tha schoola."
Roderick Kaplan |
Sorry, long weekend. Permission to grab a commbead and couple more charge packs for the pistol from ship's stores
Roderick stores some of his personal gear and meets the others in the boarding area. He checks his weapons in a manner more befitting a big game hunter than Zek's practiced military movements, an autopistol and a military grade laspistol in hip holsters, longlas over shoulder, and autogun held a ready. A bandoleer of grenades decorates his carapace armor and the cameleoline cloak complete his gear. Thinking a moment Roderick secures the armor and cloak and slides on a void suit. He inserts contacts and blinks a few times to seat them and check that the toggle for his nightsight works.
Magos Drake |

The gunship blasts off the Blade of Reason's launch bay into the void. The path to your quarry, a transport ship by the name of Bounty, is now free of obstacles for the moment. Your pilot estimates a travel time of one hour barring any complications.
At the five minute mark before intercept, you can already see the ship. An aura seems to hang about her.
By the way, who's holding the rosette?
