Glitch equals out the shields.
[dice=Engineering]1d20+14
Balancing the shields is a science officer action--the engineer can divert power to the shields, though, to restore shield points equal to 5% of our PCU rating. That will be...150 * 0.05 = 7.5 -> 7 shield points. Was there a FAQ or something at one point that changed the "Evenly distribute the restored Shield Points to all four quadrants (putting any excess Shield Points in the forward quadrant)," to allow you to put the points where you want? I feel like I vaguely remember such a thing. If not, then I think my action needs to be balancing the shields first so that most of the restored shield points aren't wasted as excess in the wrong quadrant.
EDIT: Aha!
When an engineer diverts power to shields (page 323), what do the rules mean when they say "...putting any excess Shield Points in the forward quadrant"?
The last sentence of that action should instead read, "You can distribute the restored Shield Points across the shield's four quadrants as you see fit."

Could someone give me some overview here?
We're supposed to meet one of those, right? So I assumed, there is one ship bringing cargo, which would be a natural ally of us who should take over that cargo and four ships that are opposed to that transaction for whatever reasons.
Who is now Early Bird in all this?
Nilan Milarne |
Well, Nilan just said "we aren't the good guys here. Slivvy is probably getting us to pick up android slaves"
I mean, there's some IC backstory right there.
I mean if you want an entire overview OOC
The Android Abolition Front is a group dedicated to ending Android slavery and freeing android slaves. (It's a thing in the Starfinder universe). It's similar to the Bellflower Network in Pathfinder. Nilan met 5-AM (Early Bird) whilst on a crawl through the seedy underbelly of Prosperity. Nilan thought he was some general run of the mill Mercenary (and bandit/spacepirate) but then Caloo noticed they were using AAF frequencies. Nilan put 2 and 2 together and IC told the crew the above in quotes. Nilan certainly isn't a "good guy" character, but he's not a slaver either, it goes against his nature.

Thanks for the insight. Always nice to have some knowledge about the campaign setting.
But I'm lost already at a much more basic level.
There are six ships here, right?
Us, the one we're meeting and four small fighters. Well, the spacemap only has 5 arrows, so I'm wrong.
Of these five, who is our date, and who of these four is early bird? One of the fighters?

RE: Oras. I think running a really devoted Technomancer a pretty cool idea.
@Everyone Thanks for at least for now going to Nilan. If you guys haven't figured it out...I'm basically playing Han Solo, or rather the archetype he represents. A rogue with a fatal flaw...a sense of morality. Slavery and murder aren't something he's comfortable with...he's by no means a good guy, but he's not evil either.

Why not look at the mystic dabbling feat or whatever it is called?
That is what I'll most likely end up doing, rather than multiclassing. Even with the way spell slots sort-of stack in Starfinder (different from Pathfinder, similar to D&D 5e) making multiclassing between casting classes slightly more bearable, you still lose a lot by not progressing your main class every time.
Interestingly enough, though, I'll have a harder time qualifying for that feat than for low level mystic spells the normal way because of my low Wisdom score. I only need one 2-point bump to be capable of using 1st level mystic spells if I'm multiclassed, but I'll need three of those bumps to become qualified for that feat.

I mean, with the new playtest classes out, are you sure that Caloo doesn't want to respec into a biohacker...? 0:)
Holding off on a moving-along post because this particular story twist seems to (rightfully so) been a little divisive, and I want to make sure that even if characters are apprehensive about making the choice to try to con Slivvy, or blow up the abolitionists, that you guys as players are at least on the same page of picking a course of action and then RPing your characters appropriately and in a way that's fun and interesting to you.
Plus, since we're super-sandboxy - I can assure you that there is not a 'wrong' choice here. The game will go on. It's just a matter of choosing your allies.
So with that: All in favor of siding with the AAF for the moment? All opposed?

I had no idea this was coming! Yes. Yes I do want that.

Caloo thinks Jink and Blask will become stronger if they choose to throw off the hold Slivvy has on them by taking this opportunity with the AAF. So that's my vote.

Me the player is good either way. Blask the Vesk thinks your a dumba** whose gonna get him in more trouble or killed.
I’m enjoying the banter between all of us.

Meant to get a moving-it-along post up yesterday, but work blew up, I was GMing at the FLGS (#SaveTheRenkrodas) and then I got home and faceplanted on zee bed.
Work's still nuts today, but I'm alone in the shop, so I should HOPEFULLY get some down time (*knocks on wood*) to get up a substantial post.

Sorry for going dark over the weekend. Needed a couple days to unplug and recharge.
Work's super nuts right now and I am literally at home one night this week, so I'll be trying my best to post as often as I can, but this is likely the beginning of a holiday slow-down for me - just want to warn you guys as much as possible. Not sure if I can dash off a post today, but I'll try.
re: Nilan's request for some help: Even aiding on a bluff check would give you something to post, help the efficacy of Nilan's plan, and is only a DC 10, so an idea worth trying.

Quick update on my end: things have been nuts here both at work and at home, and I haven't been home before 10 pm at all this week - and we're hopping in the car tonight to go to my parents for Christmas. We're about to move into combat (DUN DUN DUNNNN) so that should speed along postability when I'm able to get the post together and up.
The first round of combat is always the hardest to set up and post, and what you all have set up makes for a few... unique challenges for me as a GM, so there's a little extra work on my end. I'm trying to hold myself to a high quality standard for this game cuz it's my baby, so obviously the past week and the next week have not been great for that mindset.
That all said - I know many of you are also probably busy with the holidays, but sometimes having a digital escape is helpful. Would y'all prefer a break until the 26th, or a half-hiatus where I post as I can?

Sees DM’s head and hands poke out long enough to make a post.

This was much needed, much appreciated, and certainly taken advantage of, thank you ;)
Glitch is on initiative, but I don't see any options what he could do with no visuals of the fight.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just doesn't seem right to take you out of the fight altogether, but I'll keep you on a soft bot/delay unless I can think of something cool to provide you or for you to do.
