(iron actually has 10. My mistake. Still, gradual erosion should work realistically. Not exactly a check for that.)
Stone is actually rather resistant to acid.
It has hardness 8, and would halve incoming acid damage.
Steel instead of iron would also halve damage, due to it's higher resistance to corrosion.
Oh, and I was wrong about glass, Glass has hardness 1. But it also has the lowest HP of any of the objects, at 1hp/inch.

According to Wikipedia and my half remembered chemestry class back in high school
The only things acid IRL work on are bases (like most organic meterial) and some metals
They transform them into salts!
That said, magic doesn't nessciarially play by those rules.
icehawk333
That, and the real world doesn't have acid that can deal the ludicrous amounts of damage some of the later spells (and dragon breaths) can.
Sure, immersion in acid is represented as 10d6, but in reality, it's still the 1d6 acid, just all around you.

I'm reconsidering whether or not I'm fit to run this campaign.
My post rate is abysmal, I haven't prepared enough, I'm a bad storyteller, I wait too long for thighs to happen, and I'm not engaging enough. On top of that the first thing I did here was terrible, setting a tone for the rest of this.
Honestly, I already think I've failed, and just have been applying duck tape to keep the illusion that it might get better.
icehawk333
You refuse what?
There's nothing to refuse...
Even if I threw away all the notes I had left, we'd lose one crude encounter, becuase I'm unprepared and lost.
No, I won't quit. I can't. It would make me feel bad, depriving you of something you somehow enjoy, despite me writing it.

What they said.
Edit: I'd be fine with having you back.
icehawk333
Edit for clarity-
Just turn up at the guild.
Eagun will see you in.
Other then that, come up with the build changes you'll make for gestalt.
And remember, if you ever need to fade out for a while, I always have a way. Just let me know, and I'll take care of it.

looks like I may need to catch up on gameplay, who is Eagun, and where would/how/why I be coming into. what situation(s) would I be knowledgeable about (if any).
possibly a little brief backstory to meld in with the story line would be useful.
(Ice the spoiler is me just trying to help you improve your GMing skills. I don't want you to think you are a failure as a GM, you are not, I like to help where I can.)
for me, story and continuity are important. it helps drive a character's personality. a key factor in keeping your players engaged is giving them a connection and purpose, a connection to the group and to whatever mission they are on. and a purpose as in each character provides something unique to the group. a skill set, a spell selection, or whatever. also help guide the player in character development so that the character can grow with the adventure and not be bogged down with wasted energy and resources. such as I am a winter witch, I deal in cold magic, it is helpful to know before going in that we will be facing mostly cold immune type creatures.
icehawk333
I hold fast witch contiuty.
Breaking it messes me up, and I notice more breaks then anyone I talk to.
I'm not sure what I can do to make you feel important in a group, that's something I thought was up to the players- to coordinate among themselves.
No, we aren't gong against mostly cold immune enemies... If the campaign info doesn't say anything about a cold based setting, I'm not gonna be that much of an a-hole to just take on element and make it worthless for no reason.
That's like the dm who makes his dungeon fire immune because it's a good pleading spell. It ruins the whole point of playing a fire Mage. There will be cold immune enemies, yes. But there will be more that aren't.
Alright, so...
Guard came, defeated giant owlbear after you held it back so it didn't wreck anything.
Others turned up to the guild before you got accepted for their bravery. Eagun is the leader, and knows of you as well, and will accept you quickly after turning up. He will gladly repeat his introduction to you, and give you the same full tour he gave everyone else.

Ice what i posted was not directly pertinent to me or this game. it was intended to be generic advice I used the cold thing as an example to help explain my point. they were not intended to be questions to be answered. simply read and taken as a loose guideline.

That's not a quality description, but it's the best I've got this late. If you need better, I can do better after I wake up tomorrow.
its fine to start. I need some sleep as well. I think I may like this game depending on how well I can participate.
we can hash things out more tomorrow.
I still am unsure where to go with the second half of the Gestalt.

Anyone else have any ideas?
Alchemest could also work.
also
I don't see how you think anything is wrong with this...
Just because you didn't get into a game isn't a reason to doubt everything you've ever done. It means it just wasn't a good fit.
This is good and there's no reason to doubt that what you're doing is good.
Prior to getting into the game you didn't I have failed to get into six campigns in a row
It happens.| icehawk333 |
Alright. So, from the beginning, I did mention that a perquisite to this campaign is your character wanting to join to torchbearer's guild.
Remember that? If not, I'll need to describe more then i thought. Not an issue, though.
I've got most of it written down somewhere.
icehawk333
I'm not a fan on primary caster/primary caster gestalts, because of action economy, so my suggestions are ones that increase your options,
Acutslly, wizard/oracle does give a lot of options later level, and at lower level, you don't really have a better option then "cast spell'.
At high level you have enough spells to be able to quicken spells willy-nilly.
Let alone having access to both oracle and wizard spell lists.
icehawk333
As for history...
You were scheduled to apply for the torchbearer's organization today, you got interrupted by an owlbear, you helped hold it off, the town guard helped finish the creature, and everyone, save you, wandered back to the guild right away.
You can make your own reason why, or try-
You got stuck answering questions for a while about the owlbear attack.

I'm still interested.
