Silas Hawkwinter |
Gents, now's a good time for Diplomatic Aid anothers :)
Silas Hawkwinter |
I think they worked OK, although in someways think it might have been even better round a table since I kinda lost track of the Gared situation :) That's also true for Kingmaker from what I've seen (it's OK in pbp but much better round a table).
As far as RPing goes, this is kind of an awesome situation. The tension lines between the Mayor and the new Sheriff are sure to erupt. Also I think life will be harder for the party in various ways since we no longer have a friendly Sheriff who'll look the other way if we sail close to the line.
Overall I think this was a net win for the town. Apparently it's quite common for the Falcon's Hollow campaign arc to have an unsatisfactory ending as written in the books and I welcome the changes :)
Gilmork |
I agree with you on that Silas, it's definitely a win for the town.
Now as to these 'vigilantes' Payden mentioned, we can lay low at the monastery if ever needed, I doubt the Gavel would ever send his goons there.
Perhaps if Payden would owe us a favour he might be more inclined to refrain from using that term for us.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay in Falcoln's Hollow :)
GM Niles |
Welcome Jaxom!
My idea is to introduce Jaxom at the end of the downtime phase. Right now, if I read his background correctly Jaxom is in the Darkwood Vale and has been dispatched to help Gilmork by Syntira the Fey Queen. Jaxom will stumble upon a massacre and this will embroil him in some internal politics of Falcons Hollow!
Also, go ahead and give Jaxom standard WBL for level 5. Seems everyone is right about there.
Jaxom, if you wanna make a statblock for your twin and send it to me...that would be great. Otherwise I'll make it based on your description.
Jaxom, Stone-Twin |
No worries about the wait. I know how these things go. It's one thing to pop out of nowhere and be like "hey, you folk seem trustworthy" and quite another to be fit believably in the story.
What level should she be? 5?
Michael Stamford |
Greetings and congratulations to the new guy, from his predecessor! You stumbled into a great group, and I'm sad I had to bail on them when I did. Though I may no longer be an active player, I'll still be checking in every once in a while. I put too much work into helping shape this campaign into what it is to just to disappear entirely because of a lack of time to post.
And yea, if Payday tries to pull some crap on my monastery, he'll have a small army marching against him. Especially if he tries to do some of the things that I think he'll try in the town itself. He's probably going to try cracking down on the Freejacks on behalf of Kreed, which might mean riots. And I'll be on the Freejacks' side.

I'm changing the loot log spreadsheet, I aim to do the following things:
1. Get it to automatically count how much item wealth we have, add in any cash we have and link the totals on the individual pages to the party tracker (done)
2. Link that to the party tracker (done)
3. Update it to account for all the downtime purchases (todo) / crafting and add a new page for Jaxom (done).
This should make it a ton easier to use.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Mini loot audit:
1) Hecktor - please remember you have: Boots of Levitation, Cloak of resistance + 2. I'd be more than happy to generate you a hero lab profile if you'd like.
2) Lucanor - you now have a bag of holding type 1. It currently holds all the unclaimed potions and scrolls (there's quite a few of those - please see the loot log). Your composite longbow has a +2 str modifier, please update your hero lab profile you are missing damage.
3) Michael - I'm lazy didn't bother with an audit. Still the spreadsheet says you have 8402.69g which is more than the 6740g required to build the monastery and hire guards. Congrats you are now a defacto feudal lord.
4) Silas - I uh don't want Silas's WBL to get out of hand - he won't need loot for a while.
5) Gilmork - Your profile look spot on.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Hmm, Maybe I'm not reading the stats block right :) It says "darkwood composite longbow" but I'd expected it to say darkwood composite longbow +2.
I agree +2 is right for 14 str.
Michael Stamford |
Well then, since I've got enough after that last adventure, I'm definitely going to get the monastery finished, and after it is it's going to no longer be just a monastery. It's going to be a fortress, rest area, monastery, and maybe even a small trading post if there's enough cash to add another couple things to my original plans. I'll have to find time to check that out. Which will probably be when I also find time to make that new map of the place that I've been wanting to make.

GM Niles |
Silas have you thought about GMing one yet? Might I suggest Iron Gods to get you out of your comfort zone =)
Silas Hawkwinter |
I'm actually not that keen on tech-magic crossover, with the exception of the Dresden novels =)
I have thought about GMing, but have been concerned about how much time it would take to setup and run. I know the setting I'd like to run, it would be post (fantasy) apocalyptic homebrew were the PCs world has being invaded by very hostile forces, who have all but won.
Goal would be very simple: Survive and ideally free the world.
GM Niles |
I know, I was kidding with ya. Honestly, the time factor is a big reason why I've stayed with modules/pfs scenarios for the most part.
Hecktor |
Heck, why not?
My homebrew Niles is in is in a varisian city,
the team's been on a roll stopping shady folk, none have escaped them ^^.
They are now facing a siege, so all in all it's a fun run with these guys so far. :)
Somehow it isn't as hard as you'd think, things can even unexpectedly evolve along the way.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Right I would hope to get any players to indirectly do a ton of world building. I'm thinking of mostly sandbox with an overarching plot.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Anyway back to Niles' Game :)
You've all got quite a bit of money to spend and Silas can now craft simple wondrous items. I think Gilmork was after a +2 charisma head band, which is totally doable. What about Lucanor is there a +stat item you'd like?
May I also recommend Quick Runner's shirts? Swift action to get a second move action once per day, which is very nice for moving into position.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Lucanor would you like one of these?
GM Niles |
What a cool item! I heartily support such a thing.
On a side note, I picked up Fires of Creation last night on a lark. Its a pretty darn cool adventure, I might want to run it here on the boards.
Lucanor |
It's a great looking item, but at this point, I think Luc's gold will more likely go to the orphanage and maybe other properties than it.
Lucanor is thinking that if they ever really want the town to survive, it will need other sources of revenue besides the lumber industry
Silas Hawkwinter |
Don't forget downtime rules let you earn capital and both Silas and Hecktor have offered to help.
The party also has some influence left that I think could be spent on this endeavour.
Also crafted items are half price.
Edit: Luc has 9921g so you can easily afford to buy it out of pocket if you want.
GM Niles |
Gilmork and Hecktor where are you? lets get the downtime finished so we can press on.
Also, I'm like 95% sure I'll be running Iron Gods as a PbP here. You guys would have a guaranteed spot if you want to play.
Silas Hawkwinter |
Iron Gods would be somewhat out of my comfort zone (although I did get used to the Asura and ratasum when I played Guildwars 2). On the other hand I like Niles's GMing...
I've not played a wizard in years and I have the hankering to play a paranoid illusionist with the tag line "Its all an illusion except for when its real". I'm not sure how to build a good non-gnome illusionist in pathfinder, I'm not even sure which class/archetype is best suited (wizards, arcanist, sorcerers, heck even bards or oracles can do it).
GM Niles |
Grab the players guide and take a look. There are some cool archetypes in the tech guide also that might be fun to play.
IMO to have the most fun with a game like Iron Gods you gotta go all in and make something that would be kinda outlandish in a game like this one. Android Gunslinger, Ratfolk Technic Scavenger Rogue, Half Orc Cybersoldier Fighter! Or...Technomancer!
Also, Jaxom this invitation extends to you also.
Hecktor |
I'm running an android slayer in a homebrew.
We're only at lvl 2 and have discovered a crashed spaceship.
Indeed i have downloaded the player's guide, yet find it a challenge to think of what to come up with. Especially since the amount of classes has now officially updated & increased as such. So many options.
Jaxom, Stone-Twin |
Thanks. I would be interested. It would be a good excuse to play an alchemist. :-)
Have you guys seen the Nanite Bloodline?
Silas Hawkwinter |
Been reading the setting and uh it's just not my thing. Can't really explain why, and I do like science fiction novels too. I think if it was only high tech with no magic I'd like it much more.
Michael Stamford |
Niles, I just realized something. You said the kobolds were making a return in the next adventure. I've got a good idea of what module you're planning, and won't my rebuilding the monastery throw a monkey wrench into that? By the time the adventure starts it will have been finished and have a small contingent of soldiers living there.

Hecktor |
It's funny.
The whole hype of mashing in a dose of sci-fi with a fantasy world.
Whilest way back in 1986...opposed to pathfinder's rise in 2009, the Might & Magic franchise had this too. Albeit the sci-fi only a very loose twist at the end.
My fullplate knight, archer and squishy casters were wielding laser guns and rifles in 1999 already :).
GM Niles |
@Michael Nope, I've modified it a little.
@Silas Awww come on man, a savage breaker barbarian with superstition is just calling your name!
@Jaxom yeah ive seen the nanite bloodline, seems fine
Silas Hawkwinter |
Throngor SMASH puny alien!
Silas Hawkwinter |
I'll download the player guide and take a look with an open mind. I am interested in trying some APG classes although I'm a sucker for barbarians and paladins. I'm not sure if Mr Kincaid would fit the mythos but I wouldn't mind finding him a home.
GM Niles |
Cool. You guys let me know your intentions re:Iron Gods asap and i'll make discussion thread. Looks like at least Hecktor and Jaxom are interested if you other guys arent into it I'll recruit from my other game
Edit: took the family camping again so big gameplay update Monday morning right now posting from phone
Silas Hawkwinter |
Passing thought, might be interesting to try with APG class only.
Niles if you can promise me we get to diffuse at least one multi-megaton nuke and do Hollywood proud, I'm in. I've no idea if that's in the AP but it's not, it ought to be.
Rather than choose a class now, I'd prefer to let others choose and fill the gaps.
