Council Chairman |
William, you see Calisenica lying there and Robahl is trying to get your attention off stage, motioning for you to get out of the snake. There is no need to remove her from the snake since she's not dying.
The crowd is going wild, already applauding without the act being over. They are amazed at your ability to survive the trial.
William Silverheart |
William sighs, and gently lays Calisenica down, using a prestidigitation to quickly clean up her body of the major grime before stepping to the edge of the snake.
In as dramatic fashion as he can, William covers himself in his cape as he shifts, then stands to his feet giving it a flourish on stage before heading offstage.
Council Chairman |
The crowd rises to their feet to very loud applause. The curtain falls quickly, but the crowd continues to applaud. Delour walks out to do her song, but they refuse to quiet down and continue their applause.
Robahl and Thesling look stunned. The stagehands come and pull the snake off the stage with Calisenica inside. The little stagehands arrange a rope and find a way inside and tie her and pull her out of the snake, although she takes a bit more damage as she drops to the floor.
Falling damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Take today to heal up and do whatever you wish to do offstage, the trials get harder. Also, please make your performance rolls. I'm amazed nobody died.
William Silverheart |
William sighs. "Glad that worked..., I hope everyone is ok. Also, we really need to help out Calisenica. That acid beat her up pretty bad."
William sighs, brushing at his clothing, trying to just take in the fresh air of being out of range of the acid.
Council Chairman |
Updated overall rating to now +1 total. Nice.
Phaedra Valerius |
perform: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Phaedra begins to tap people with the CLW wand to heal up the injuries they incurred during the trial.

clw on Corey: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

clw on Tristain again because the rolls sucked: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
clw on William: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
After making the rounds with the wand: "Well, that was certainly worse than I expected, but at least the audience seemed to love it. Is anyone in need of more healing before we move on to the next act?"
William Silverheart |
"Well enough as can be expected I suppose."
William gathers himself together, before walking over to check on Calisenica, making sure that she is ok, and gently trying to wake her so that she can be ready for the next act.
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristvalid springs to his feet after the curtain goes down, looking at Phaedra with a twinkle in his eyes.
"Thanks for that...but I was just acting! ACTING! ME! I did it!" Tristain seems awfully proud that he pulled off his act of death.
However, after Phaedra's second ministrations, Tristain is fully healed and pretty excited both for still being alive and for his ability to burn, fall, and not die.
Jimmy Bodrick |
Perform (Act): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Not sure if it's necessary for Jimmy's short role, but here you go.
"Jimmy thinks you did a good job!" Jimmy says, and claps Tristain on his shoulder. "Jimmy thinks Tristain's very talented!"
"Jimmy wants to remind everyone Jimmy can also heal. Jimmy would like to use spells next time you're wounded so the wand doesn't run out as fast."
5/13 HP for Calseinica
Jimmy walks over to Calseinica, who's been partially healed by Phaedra. He placed a hand on her wounds and a soft blue glow appears in his palm.
CLW: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 13/13 HP for Calseinica
The remaining wounds close, which should bring everyone back to full health.
Council Chairman |
The stagehands are taking off their costumes.
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristain smiles at Jimmy's compliments.
"Thanks, that was exciting. Jimmy's word means a lot to me. I can't wait to see what is next...do you know what is next?" Tristain brushes himself off and looks around.
"I bet nothing can go wrong now! Good luck to all of you!"
Jimmy Bodrick |
"Jimmy wishes you good luck!" Jimmy says to Tristain and the others, giving them a quick nod.
When everyone's ready and in position the curtains rise. Delour didn't even get to sing her song, because the crowd wouldn't stop cheering. With some chagrin she goes backstage.
~ Act 5: The Birthing Trial ~
Haanderthan:
Thesling takes a step forward and points at Corey. "You have crawled from the maw of the Beast. Let us see what blasphemous lies slither from your treacherous insides."
"Show them," Thesling commands Jimmy, motioning for Jimmy to approach.
Bailiff:
Just before everyone else got onto the stage Robahl had quickly given Jimmy a basket. Jimmy now moves forward to show the contents of the basket to the other players and the crowd: five crimson eggs.
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristvalid recoils, remembering.
"Oh horror beyond nightmare! The eggs, they burrow deep within us. They hatch deep in our insides, churning our guts to paste and slurping them through gritted devil teeth. They feed on our souls. When these foul devils have eaten their fill, they tear their way free—terrible things! Hideous devil-children bearing our own faces, but filled with hate for all we are. We are mothers to twisted things and look upon our own visage as we die by their taloned hands."
Council Chairman |
Yeah, that sounds rather pleasant. How bad could it be? Also make sure you see my new post about the map in discussion. Thank you.
Jimmy Bodrick |
Haanderthan:
"Shall you recant now, or will you give birth to abominations of your very flesh?" Thesling says sadistically, knowing that the answer's set.
Ilsandra:
Calseinica stares at the eggs instead of Thesling when she replies. "Do your worst, fool of a mortal. I am a princess to hell, and no child born of my black soul shall bear malice against me."
She continues to stare at the eggs, as if hypnotized.
Corey Evander |
Ha! Give me your egg, you lickspittle. If Asmodeus wishes it, I shall choke the life of my own devilish child with glee. I shall gulp this egg down before this court and our dark lord's very eyes....
Corey tilts his head back, opens his mouth wide and holds the egg raised above him ready to consume it.
William Silverheart |
William gazes at the eggs, before looking up to Thesling and shrugging at him, almost a roguish grin spreading across his face.
Well, give me mine. Not much good it shall avail you. The real Dentris Maltrada was killed ages ago at my own devilish hands when I was born from his old soul. I am a child of this egg."
William takes his egg in hand, looking it over coolly.
Council Chairman |
Both Jimmy and Thesling move off stage. At this point, everyone eats their eggs. You cannot help but start to feel something rolling around in your stomach, it is truly a disgusting feeling like you just ate the worst thing ever. You bend over in excruciating abdominal pain. After about 30 seconds of this unending pain, you violently vomit some kind of black goo, which creates a pool of black goo in front of each of your characters.
Everyone needs to make a DC 15 Fortitude save, to speed things along, I will make the saves for you. Failure is nauseated for 2 rounds, while success is simply sickened for 2 rounds.
Calisenica: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 FAIL
Corey: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 SUCCESS
William: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 SUCCESS
Phaedra: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 SUCCESS
Tristain: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 FAIL
Summoned Creatures: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Summoned Creature Locations: 2d5 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9 PHAEDRA/TRISTAIN
Coming out of the goo, you see 2 devil like creatures that the stagehands had dressed as come out of pools next to Phaedra and Tristain. The weird part is the creatures have faces that look like Phaedra and Tristain. However, they are so slow coming out of the ooze that everyone gets to act before they do.
Calisenica: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

NEW MAP
I put a larger picture of the creature on the side so you can see it more clearly. However, the faces are that of Tristain and Phaedra. The red dots are the pools of black goo you just vomited.
Phaedra Valerius |
Round 1 Draw and attacking the creature directly in front of her.
Is that couch on the map there in game as well? If not, Phaedra would also take a 5 foot step straight back. I'll refrain from moving my avatar until that is clarified, if that is ok?
attack: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 - 2 = 20
confirm: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 2 = 19
damage: 1d10 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
additional crit damage: 2d10 ⇒ (10, 6) = 16
Total damage of 19 if crit successful
Extremely disturbed by the sight of her own face on a devil creature coming out of a pile of goop that she just puked up, Phaedra lashes out with her glaive as hard as she can at the creature.
What in the holy name of Shelyn is that abomination!
William Silverheart |
Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
William tries to catch himself as he still feels rather queasy, seeing the creatures start to rise up from the floor. He quickly takes a step back, readying himself to assist the others as needed.
5ft step back, total defense
Council Chairman |
You can ignore the couch and other objects on the stage for moving. You also destroy the poor creature. I have moved you 5' back since the map is a bit unclear from that perspective.
For failing to take into account the Sickened condition in your roll (the -2 on skill checks as referenced in the link to make it easy on players), you automatically fail your knowledge check. Please take into account the conditions you are under when you roll. This is why it is linked for easy reference next to each players name.

Ilsandra:
Calseinica looks like she's about to slap the creature in front of her, but hesitates while she forces her lines past her lips: "No! My child! Forgive me! You’ll pay for this, Haanderthan—with your heart’s blood, and with every shred of your soul."
She then decides this isn't really her thing, takes a big step away from the creatures, and hides behind Corey.
Help me please!
Council Chairman |
Laugh, you goof. Her spawn hasn't appeared, yet. It's okay.
Corey Evander |
Corey will move to stage left and draw Domino's whip (he had brought out Domino's weapons during the last Act).
Knowledge (planes) 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 = 20
Corey will begin to slash at the creature (stage fighting style) vigorously
So GM CC, what do I know?
Council Chairman |
You know it's a minor devil called a lemur. You know it is resistant to damage, especially from acid and cold, and immune from fire and poison. I see that you can indeed move 30' to your location without generating an AoO. Lastly, how do you know the # of rounds it can be done? I don't see where there is a "limit". Can you show me where that is, as I'm in the book on page 37 and I just don't see it. I hate not knowing stuff as my Bard knowledge is still growing.
Make sure you use the last map when you update the map. I've combined the maps because one of you veterans who should know better goofed! it's been awhile since we've had combat with maps....so just keep it in mind.
THIS SHOULD BE THE MAP at the start of the monster's action
So, the big ol' monster with Tristain's face attacks Tristain. It comes awfully close, but the claw scrapes against Tristain's armor, thus preventing any damage.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Another monster comes out of the pool of goo, this time with the face of Calisenica.

UPDATED MAP WITH ADDITIONAL MONSTER AND COMBINED PLAYER MOVEMENTS
Phaedra Valerius |
Of course another one pops up. I guess each goo pile when turn into one of those blasted things. Though with as annoying as Calisencia is, I suppose this is one way to relieve some of my feelings about her.
5 ft step to the side and then attack Cals, my glaive has reach so I should be able to attack it from there.
attack: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 2 = 7
damage: 1d10 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 2 = 2
Phaedra steps to the side to place herself in range of the creature with Calisenica's face and then takes a swing at it with her glaive.
Is there anything I need to do to save the map after I move myself?

Sorry, missed seeing Jimmy's updated map line...

Is there anything I need to do to save the map after I move myself?
Post the link, so we can see where you moved. Since you're new to Ditzie, I will do it for you. Please do it in the future. If it is confusing using Ditzie, send me a polite PM and we will go over it again. I goofed the first few times I used it.
Phaedra whiffs at the creature with Calisenica's face.
Ah, missed the Charisma + 4....I'll have to look at it tomorrow. I wasn't sure if you wanted everyone to know about your +1, since you put it in a spoiler. I was going to keep track of it, but if you want folks to know (which I think you should), just put that out of a spoiler.

William Silverheart |
William backs off, another step back as he surveys the battle then realizing this could get ugly fast, he quickly reaches in a pouch on his belt, and intoning.
Ego servus tuus, advoca vires pervenire ad caelos. Sit summa cacumina summa planorum auditum vocare. Contractum offero, vocare ad spiritum sanctum, qui habitat in iumentis caelo!
5 ft step back, full round casting, Summon Monster 2.

Council Chairman |
I've added an Eagle icon to the map. Please just drag them down from the top section into the map at the start of your next turn (if that's confusing, send me a PM). Please update your character sheet for the spell used. I'd prefer if you kept all the spells and put (used) next to the ones you cast. Summoned Eagle Stats. Finally, please use the last map posted when you update the map. We haven't done Ditzie maps in a bit, so I realized folks are rusty and/or new to this.

Posting for Calisenica
Calisenica is terrified and hides behind Phaedra.
Random: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Another monster spawns, this time with the face of William. That monster steps forward 5' and the monster in front of Phaedra steps forward. Tristain is slightly wounded by his own devil child (Tristain has taken 1 damage!). Pheadra's monster can't seem to hit her.
Monster w/Tristain face
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Council Chairman |
EDIT: Assuming the monsters don't move, if they do I will readjust.
Place your eagles now...your turn anyway. Use my map and post updated map with eagles where you want them. Place a star where you summon them. You can't summon them in 2 different places. So one of them is going to have to move. Thus, one can get a full attack, while the other will only get a single attack, since you're splitting them up. I'm assuming you'll summon it next to one of the targets so at least one of them gets a full attack.
Tristain the Chalker |
Round 3
Should only be one hit for 1 damage. Corey aided Tristain's AC...up from 16 to 18.
Tristvalid finally shakes off the rumbling in his stomach enough to focus on his foe. Seeing no opportunities for flank, Tristain attack 'himself'.
1d20 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 18 to hit; (flank, inspire)
2d4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 + 1 = 9 damage.
Edited for ninja GM.
Council Chairman |
I'm quick....thanks for the reminder Tristain. I'm in a rush at the moment, going to pick up family at airport in a few minutes, so I missed it. I'm going to assume when you said "flank" bonus, you were referring to where William was going to put his eagles. But, those don't happen until at the start of his turn, which he hasn't done yet. Still waiting for him to do it. Because of the confusion with people posting maps and what not and they aren't used to it, I'll let it slide. You hit it and realize your weapon doesn't do as much damage as you expected.
William Silverheart |
William's spell comes to completion, a pair of golden eagles coming into being, one between the creatures, and the other on the far side of the one in front of Phaedra.
Percute demones!
The eagles screech, striking out with beaks and talons. Their eyes and talons glow softly for a moment, as they channel holy energy as they strike out.
Current bonuses: +3 bonus, +1 for Inspire, +2 for flanking. Smiting evil on their primary targets, and at +4 damage currently for Inspire plus augment summoning plus smite.
Eagle 1: Attacks on flanked creature between it and Tristan
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Eagle 2: Attacks on creature flanked between the pair of eagles
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Not applying Higher ground bonus here, because I do not know if you allow that or not with the flying creatures. If so its +1 to attack to each of the eagles attack rolls.
William then moves to the side, trying to assist Tristan in holding off the creatures with his staff.
Aid another: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 for +2 to AC
