I've heard some people like playing Superheroes in non superhero games. So I decided to make a game for that.

Character Creation:

40pt buy
All ARG for Races
7th level Gestalt 3rd tier Mythic
Core, APG, UC, UM, ACG, Psionics, other 3pp or homebrew by request for classes
14000gp
All Paizo for Equipment, homebrew gear by request

Tell me if I'm missing anything.

Huh, let me think about it.

I told myself I wasn't going to app to another pbp, then you had to make a game that I've had an itch for for a while now. Did you have any ideas on setting? Are superheroes a common thing, or did they just occur, or does the world not know about them?

Ya know, I was quite interested in the last game of this sort, and it got a TON of submissions and support.

I think I will try the same concept I had for that, Ghost Rider, themed a bit more on the wild west version. Going Gunslinger/Inquisitor, possibly the Grand Marshal PrC.

you might wanna consider cavalier for ghost rider, and then reflavor your mount as a motorcycle (or a horse even if you're going old school).

One thing i'm trying to do is figure out flight.

Wings.. or no wings?

Characters are starting at 7th level.. So a "Cape of flying" shouldn't be too far out of the budget. Wings? There's a couple of different alternate race traits which will add these to characters.

How does the DM wish to resolve templates? I have a fun 'She-hulk' build. :)

Also, calling 'Dibs' on "Captain Andoran". (^_^)

Do you have access to Deep Magic? Unfortunately it does not seem to be in the SRD.

Dark Archive

Dot. This sounds neat.

Do we have to go with superheroes that already exist?

Do we want to go more silver age, or iron age?

If I gain an animal companion from two different sources, do you mind if I apply templates equal to its hit dice to it instead of not having them stack? I've never tried having an animal companion in a gestalt campaign but I figured they might suffer.

Dark Archive

i want play hulk!

I am currently thinking gadgeteer. That is Alchemist/Techslinger. I am just not sure what mythic path.

This could be interesting, but will be a fair amount of work to grind out the character.

Dark Archive

So I'm actually currently thinking of a Skald/Aegis who is pretty much going to be sort of a fantasy Iron Man. I'll fluff his astral suit as turning into a Golem (and, aptly, his superhero name will be "The Mountain") and his Skald powers as using his suit as a sort of war drum to focus his powers.

On this note, are the races from Ultimate Psionics okay? I was thinking that making this character a half-giant would be really spot on, but it's okay if you'd rather I stick to normal PF races. Half-orc or even Tiefling would work just fine for what I'm trying to do, after all.

I was thinking of Blok from Legion of Superheroes. Will have to think about how to do that exactly. Probably need a custom race.

Maybe barbarian/mighty godling.

40-point buy mythic gestalt?

Gods, you're gonna put your party through the ringer, aren't you?

Ah well, I think I might have someone for this. Her creation was going in a superheroic direction anyway.

Androids?

Dark Archive

I don't have Deep magic, you can make your own Super heroes and Androids are okay

I've got an idea for an aberrant aegis / primal companion hunter who rips off Rachel Lundt from Worm (I don't know the naughty word level on these boards, let's just call her hellhound and not her given callsign).

Dark Archive

Are half-giants okay, too?

Also I've come up with a potential name for my hero: Erik "The Mountain" Krantson.

It would be somewhat easier to make a character if I knew the setting/story of the game. XD Really, making the character is the easy part...

Any suggestions for which mythic path?

Which half giant? (I've seen many)

Dark Archive

Golarion sound good for everyone?

Speaking as a player would, champion gives some good things for ranged and there is a trickster build for Alchemists.

Golarion sounds good to me, and I believe Seranov means the psionic one.

Dark Archive

Yeah that's fine.

As Nohwear pointed out, I meant DSP's psionic half-giants. With your okay, I will start Erik's crunch in earnest. :)

Dark Archive

Okay, I think I have The Mountain's crunch finished. Building a level 7 gestalt character with mythic tiers is a LOT of work. D: It'll be a bit before I can get everything into a profile on the Paizo forums, but I think he came together really well.

I have some concepts for fluff, but without knowing exactly what the campaign background is, I'll hold off on nailing anything down. :)

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Oh yeah, Imona totally get something put together here.

Creating a Paladin (Holy Tactician)/ Tactician (Psionic)/ Marshal. In concept he is a bit like Captain America in that he is a genius tactician who brings out the best in others. Flavor wise I'm looking at him being trained from birth by the Church of Iomedae in a program to make him the front line of defense against any demonic incursion into the material plane

Okay, so right now, i'm looking at a few different ideas:

1) a speedster character. This build will most likely be a barbarian/cleric/monk, but there might be some variation of that.

2) a visitor to our world from another that died who can fly, is super strong, super tough, can shoot energy rays, and has great senses. Mechanically would be an aegis/warlock or aegis/brawler.

3) a rich man who's parents were murdered by criminals when he was a boy. He's highly trained and uses theatricality and deception, as well as his keen analytical mind, to battle crime. Mechanically, he's a ninja/investigator.

also, a note on strength vs. super strength. Doing a bit of intarwebs research reveals that the current records for squatting and benchpressing are: squatting 1140 lbs.; benchpressing; 1075 lbs. That averages out to about 1100 pounds. That would mean that max human strength falls somewhere in the 23 strength range (assuming that lifting that much weight put you in the "stagger around" level).

That means that anything with strength 24+ is above current human norms.

Are there rules somewhere for buying stats above 18?

Well. There're things like barbarian rage... Manuals of Gainful Exercise, Belts of Physical ___... you get the idea. You can actually -start- with a 20, throw on a +4 belt, and be beyond normal human. Plus level up stat mods. :)

as a quick question, can we build our own race using the race builder from the ARG? if we can, how many points do we have to spend?

Is Ultimate Psionics okay, or just the parts on d20pfsrd?

The pattern I see is this

Ability Score Table:

10- 0
11- 1 (+1)
12- 2 (+1)
13- 3 (+2)
14- 5 (+2)
15- 7 (+3)
16- 10 (+3)
17- 13 (+4)
18- 17

But I don't know of any rules that spell it out. So leave it to the DM I guess.

Grand Lodge

I'm making a PF version of Wolverine...including custom race. This is fun....

If you -could- buy over 18, the pattern's pretty obvious. You pay for the bonus it's worth. So 19 is 4 points, and 20 is 5 more. So if you -could-, it'd be 9 more points for a 20 base than an 18 base. So a whopping 26 point buy for -one- 20 stat.

Dark Archive

I'd personally prefer nothing over 18 before racial modifiers.

This seems familiar.

Incidentally, the character I'm currently making is a Synthesist Summoner/Sorcerer (Sage). The plot is that they're extremely weak physically - the summon is basically their super suit, allowing them to fly around and rain spells down upon evildoers. XD I'll try something else if that seems like too much, though.

Dark Archive

I forgot to ask, are we rolling for HP, doing max/level, average/level, or some other way of determining it?
