Oso Legumbe |
Its not well written but Heathy, that's the way I have run it in the past. But the enervation spell description pre-empts the negative level one so maybe Altai is right. One enervation spell cast equals one spell slot lost.
Oso feels a tug at his heart as father and son share a moment.

Oso Legumbe wrote:"Get him Gittik. That pappy of yours should have looked after you better. he deserves to die. Mine never gave me hugs either.""Meh, him good dad really - make me what me am today."

Elgan Dreadwood |
OK you gamer-math-majors out there, here's teh question,...
At 8th lvl, Elgan fianlly gets 2 att /rnd normally, in Dire Slayer form, he gets a bite, and 2 claw attacks. so how do those add up (if at all)? IF Elgan goes for the slavering quisinart attack?

Animals don't get extra attacks from high BAB (advanced animals don't get more attacks as their HD increases)- so you get one bite at full attack bonus and two claws at -5 (unless you get the Multiattack feat). Still, you get three attacks instead of your normal two, so it's not a bad deal.
Also, as you're hasted, you get a bonus attack (presumably you want an extra bite) when you perform a full attack.
Riese's Altered Form |
1d20+6=12 reflex failed."Ouch, those fireballs really do hurt. I'll have to look into some type of protections from such attacks." Riese moves to P23 and lines up the Robed guy and Gittik's father, "Currintar ar'C de'lectic!!" 8d6=31 Lightning Bolt, dc20 reflex for half.
Pendobar 'Pip' Bushytoe |
1d20+10=11 Ouch
The fireball hits Pip squarely, giving him a Elmer Fudd backfire look. The enticing smell of roast hobbit wafts through the salty air
Pip will cast a CMW on himself, as that really took him down

The more he thinks about it,....it just might've been some bad curry.
Elgan Dreadwood |
Lost track of the map, sorry. as I'm 15' away from Hobbie, I have time to cast first!
Elgan-Dire-Wolf paws at the sandy soil, throwing large chunks spraying as his growl rumbles deep in his throat. The growl has a strange, melodic, resonating quality,...
Flame Strike on mr dandy-robes!
15 pts fire dmg, 15 pts divine dmg! (ref for 1/2 dmg) Take THAT mr immunity!
AND a column of flame appears surrounding the red-robed mage, (and anyone else too close to him!)
dungeonmaster heathy |
Heathy, how deep is the water on the outside of the sandbar? And is it a sudden dropoff?
Where you're at is 10 feet deep. Inside the "c" it's pretty shallow; 5 feet at the end of the sandbar; where Beldan is he's not even down to his knees.
On the outside of the "c" it's 20 feet deep plus.dungeonmaster heathy |
The wizard moves to n4, and two scorching rays lance out at Gittik; one hits for 17 h.p. in damage.
"Now, son...you listen to your Poppy not good. Now you get spanked."
He connects once with the scimitar, and one crit with the kukri; 19 h.p. in damage to the hobbit barbarian.
The harpy attacks Oso; hitting once with her club and doing 9 in damage to the doughty man of the swordgod's cloth.
The Varag closes with Elgan at d19; slashing on the move with his scimitar, he does 18 h.p. in damage to the druid.
AND THEN THE SAHUAGIN APPEARED....
launching out of the water, one at u4, one at t5, one at s23, one at t24, onto the sandbar, bellowing and gnashing their spiny intermeshing fangs; and one appears in the waters at x5 menacing Altai with a trident; one appears at j13 menacing Beldan in the shallows, also with a trident.
The one at t24 is larger than the others, taller by a head in height, and broader by as much. He wields a two handed warclub spiked with the teeth of a sperm whale.
ROUND 3. Group's attack.
(addendum: Elgan is nowhere near a sahuagin; he's fighting the varag. Oso's 25 feet away from the big bruiser with the club sahuagin; Pip's 20 feet from that guy; they're both engaged with the harpy.)
Riese's Altered Form |
"Imbelia Pyrrok de'flar~urt corrosit!!" Riese targets the area across the sandbar from him with a fireball, twisting the arcane chant slightly to change the fire into acid when it detonates. 9d6=32 acid damage(class variant, once a day), DC20 reflex for half. Targeting the two new fishmen, Gittik's pappy and the Robed man. I should be able to avoid Gittik if he is medium sized but if he is in the line of fire, adjust my target to exclude the caster.
Riese moves to J22.
dungeonmaster heathy |
One moment Gittik's pappy is talking all conciliatorily...
"Hey, Gittik! We kill fishmen for old time's sake! Me and you, Gittik! You am take him low. Me take him low....we kneecap the..." fwoosh! Schblorb....!
Gittik's pappy splaps to the ground in a steaming, acid burned mess. He's not dead, but he's out of commission.
The sahuagin both take hard hits; their skin is smoking away, bubbling; they bellow in agony and rage; yet still stand.
The mage is unaffected. I'm sure of it... (sheesh!!!)
Gittik's not harmed either. He's staring down at pap like Obiwan looking at Anakin on the side of that lava river.
Altai Iscarni |
Altai casts a quick glance at the fish-men surrounding him and decides to make a quick retreat.
Move to N16 before casting Lightning bolt at the sahuagin in S23 and T25. Damage 34, Reflex 19 for half.
With Haste, Shield and my altered form's natural armour, Altai's AC is 23.
dungeonmaster heathy |
This is great! I was expecting some reinforcements, but I thought they would be more goblins coming off the ship. Also, the robed jackass is starting to really piss me off...
It just came to me...this is my answer to the 15 minute adventure day, which I learned from Aubrey in the tannery fight.
I'm glad....I finally got a wizard to go into the third round in a fight. Most popped their big frag and went down under the knives.
Oso Legumbe |
Oso flies past the harpy and engages the wizard. He has eighty foot move so finishes with a single swipe to Robes head.
Attack roll 17+13=30, Damage 9+6=15pts, AC26 due to haste and magic circle vs evil. Probable AoO from harpy.
Oso Legumbe |
This robed figure is it real? Now we are up close and personal is it another illusion that my sword just wafted through or did Oso just bounce off something solid?
"Something smells fishy here." Oso briefly looks at his sword.

Yeah; you can take off with one move action and catch up to Riese, maybe pass him a little bit.
Riese is 30 feet to your west, Elgan is 50 feet that way fighting a varag.
You have 50 feet of move due to haste. If you pass Riese, he's the only one between you and a harpy and two sahuagin. The sahuagin are both more than 40 feet away from Riese though. The harpy can jump Riese this round. Or they could throw stuff at you guys; you never know.
I doubt they have ak-47's though. Greyhawk...gunpowder.....

Beldan Vale |
Elgan; Beldan up to bat. Do cricket players go up to bat? Does my colloquialism for its your turn next work?
It's probably really un-Australian of me, but I can't much stand cricket. It's really frikken boring. Baseball looks like a far more interesting game. But yeah, "up to bat" works for cricket too.
Beldan Vale |
Well f$%@. I didn’t post before I left work ‘cos I thought my map was at home, now I can’t find it here, so its probably at work. Not really sure of everyone’s positions, but I guess I got a fish guy on me, right? If so, Beldan whips out the keen rapier and goes hasted full attack on him.
Attack #1: 16+7 = 23, Crit confirm: 13+7 = 20. Damage: 5+1 = 6 + 6 if crit.
Attack #2: 8+2 = 10
Attack #3: 18+7 = 25. Crit confirm: 14+7 = 21. Damage: 3+1 = 4 + 3 if crit.
“Take that fish face!”
I think I needed to take a 5 foot step to get to him, so I did that first.

That one may not work, but there is definitely some things to be said about this fight being a 'sticky wicket' eh wot?
Pip races up to Riese , but plants himself directly in front of him.
"Incoming hostiles Riese!"
As they advance I'll trip a Sound Burst at the harpy and sahuguin. Fort save or stunned for 1 rd, 1d8 damage.
Pip riffs out some dark wailing chords from Lucille

I like the bat. It's so geometric looking.

"Nice little spell there! I am not so concerned for my well-being, between my Lizard-like scales and my mystical armor it is doubtful they shall be able to harm me, but if they do I shall burn them to cinder. Do not take harm for me, for I am strong with my magicks."
