Male Dwarf Invoker/Divine Philosopher 14

"I say. The gods gave me that. Give it back!" Guldarin sounds mildly displeased, and takes it out on the nearest visible tiefling as a bolt of lightning flashes out of the roof. A quick mental command leads to Nayce being pciked up and carried over to one of the devils.

Storm Call, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 32 vs T2, 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 lightning damage and the target takes 5 ongoing lightning damage and is dazed (se both)
Move, Amy lifts Nayce to I21

The tiefling lets out an involuntary yelp as lightning arcs down and is distracted by the rapid burning of his robes.

Amy calmly picks up Nayce and deposits him in front of D2. The gilded devil looks her up and down and sneers.

"Feathers. So last year."

Divine light pours from Amenephus's holy symbol, mingling with and temporarily overcoming, the infernal glow of the tiefling.

The devils chortle again as their master once more grants them the power to cause disruption. D1 pulls a hideous face at Guldarin.

"Hoity-toity," it jeers. "I don't think you deserve to be carrying those things."

Startled by the childish gibe, Guldarin lets his grip loosen and his rod and hammer crash to the floor.

D2 smiles at Nayce and shifts away from him, wagging an admonitory finger at the assassin. "You didn't want to do that..." Its eyes flash, momentarily dazzling the half-elf.

Oh yes, still bloodied.

Vengeance filling his features, Nayce decides to focus his efforts on the Mountain King himself. Leaping over a stream of lava, he slips a noose around the Mountain King's neck and begins to squeeze.

Stand as a minor action (boots). Move to I18, leaping the lava (Acrobatics 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29). 2 shrouds on Mountain King. Black garrotte using 3 shrouds. 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32 vs Reflex. Shroud damage 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) + 9 = 23.

Hit: You grab the target. Until the grab ends, the target takes a –5 penalty to all escape attempts and a –2 penalty to attack rolls against you. When the grab ends, the target takes 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier damage.
Sustain Standard: The grab persists, and the target takes 2d10 + your Dexterity modifier damage.

23 damage and the Mountain King is grabbed and subject to future torment.

I have a feeling Nayce's chances of survival just diminished, but what a way to go that would be ;)

Also - save vs ongoing 1d20 ⇒ 19

All his killer's training coming to his aid, Nayce leaps the lava steam and begins to choke the laughter out of the Mountain King.

The tieflings keep firing, attempting to bring the assassin to the ground, although their aim is hampered by the gigantic figure of their overlord.

I know that technically allies never obscure LoS, but in this case it's simply ridiculous. The Mountain King is huge. Nayce is normal sized and behind him strangling the git. I just don't believe there's no cover.

Rusty laughs in the face of the Mountain King's assault, while Guldarin takes the opportunity to point out the error of his ways to the Mountain King. Following his homily, he bring the lesson home with a blind light that sears into the dwarven eyes, leaving the incarnating devil temporarily dazed.

Missed D2 by inches.

Considering his large foe, Guldarin comes to a few conclusions. It seems to him that Mammon is not entirely in control of this form. Having taken over the spirit of the mountain, he is barely holding on to it. Should the King be severely injured, it seems probable that the form will split into the corrupted shard containing the mountain and the will of Mammon himself. Looking at the state of the gigantic dwarf, he judges that this moment may not be far away.

Thanks! No longer bloodied.

Tightening his grip, Nayce focuses on choking the life out of the Mountain King.

Sustain for 2d10 + 13 ⇒ (6, 3) + 13 = 22 damage.

1 shroud on the Mountain King.

Forgot Dorvin's save v slow. 1d20=3. No.

Despite his sluggish limbs, Dorvin looks on with satisfaction as Nayce ignores his wounds and concentrates on throttling the devil. The King writhes as the shadowy garrotte bites deeper into his loathsome throat and cursed gems pour off his body like rank sweat. Liquid gold runs from his eyes and mouth as the archdevil loses control of his form and breaks into two separate parts.

And this is where it gets complex. Bear with me.
Mammon loses control of the dwarf form and splits into two different parts.
Corrupted Shard - which breaks free from Nayce's clutches
Mammon's Will which stays there.
Both stay on the same init, but are separate entities with different powers. Neither is bloodied.

Distinctly concerned now, the tieflings launch more hellfire at the half-elf. Yet again, he starts to smoulder under the impact.

Hellfire (Ref) v Nayce. On hit 5 ongoing fire.
1d20+14=22 - T1 v Nayce. Miss.
1d20+14=17 - T2 v Nayce. Miss.
1d20+16=29 - T3 v Nayce. Hits. 1d6+6=10 plus 1d6=5 fire plus 5 ongoing fire damage
15 damage to Nayce and 5 ongoing fire (se)

Save v daze and lightning T2 - 1d20=19. At last.

Struggling in Nayce's grasp, Mammon's Will attempts to throw off the throttling noose and fails.

Escape - 1d20+5=16. No.

Enraged, the golden figure bends his will on the half-elf, seeking to dominate and corrupt him, whispering the promise of riches in an endless, sibilant torrent. Nayce's hands drop as he succombs to the lure of gold.

Used AP
Seized by Greed (Will). On hit target is dominated to end their next turn.
1d20+13=29. Hits.

Nayce - he takes damage for ending the garrotte attack - how much?

MW save v blindness: 1d20=11. Yes.

Freed from the grip of Mammon, the corrupted shard of Rygar's consciousness breaks loose, screaming defiance and pain in equal measure and utterly mad. Rounding on Dorvin, a fist lashes out, but the warlord is wary and dodges.

Smash (AC). Reach 2.
1d20+16=24 - CS v Dorvin. Miss.

"Oh, you don't get away that easily."

Demand Justice; immediate Interrupt, ranged 10; a creature makes a saving throw, target, the creature, effect the creature must reroll the saving throw.

"Ah. Now this is what one of my old teachers would have called a target-rich environment. I'm sure you will like this reminder of your old home." The smell of brimstone and rusting iron marks the return of Guldarin's summoned Carceric chains.

Chains of Carceri, area burst 1 in I15, targets CS and Mw.
attack vs CS, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 vs Reflex
attack vs MW, 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22 vs Reflex
2d8 + 8 ⇒ (8, 4) + 8 = 20 damage and target is slowed.
Move, Angelic Messenger to H18

Mammon's Will laughs as Guldarin tries to maintain the blindness on him.

1d20=20

"No, little dwarf thing. Not this time."

Nor do his chains have any effect on either aspect of the Mountain King. Amy flies gently towards Nayce, ready to help him.

The damage for releasing the hold is 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

Nayce struggles as the Mountain King is released from his grasp and he is subsequently subject to domination.

Which piece of the Mountain King has the shroud I placed?

I am thinking probably Nayce. Saddly i do not have a way to grant a save for you Nayce

Amenephus calls down holy fire to blast at the hurt Tiefling.

Put off by the sudden disintegration of the Mountain King into separate entities, Amenephus misses.

Don't worry about a save. The domination is not a save ends thing, it just lasts to the end of Mammon's Will's next turn.

D1 looks smug as Mammon grants him power again, while D2 grumbles under his breath and resorts to his flail.

Betrayal of Riches recharge:
D1 - 1d6=5. Yes
D2 - 1d6=4. No.

D1 shifts away from Dorvin and points at Guldarin.

"Let me see ... feet, head, hands, waist ... ooooh, so many lovely choices ..."

Betrayal of Riches (Fort). On hit roll for secondary effect on d6.
1d20+16=35. Hits. 2d8=6 damage and 1d6=3, drop held items.
6 damage to Guldarin and he drops everything he's holding.

"Butterfingers," it giggles.

D2 rolls its eyes and swings at Rusty, golden coins clashing musically. To no avail as the weapon simply bounces off the oblivious dragonborn.

Scourge of Avarice (AC).
1d20+18=21. Miss.

Rusty shoves Mammon's Will into Dorvin's waiting arms. Still confounded by the insults of the devils, the dwarf is unable to capitalise on the opportunity.

I will record the 5 fire damage. Save 1d20 ⇒ 6. Everything else is up to you, Rev :)

Golden-eyed, Nayce lashes out at Rusty with a noose of shadowy powe, under the thrall of his temporary master.

Executioner's Noose (Fort)
1d20+15=34. Hits. 1d6+8=10
10 damage to Rusty. No pull.

The half-elf's eyes clear as the blow lands and he looks with loathing on Mammon's Will. The Archdevil smiles benignly.

Astonishingly still standing, the tieflings keep up their hellish bombardment, but their aim completely fails them as fire thumps into the ground far from their chosen targets.

Hellfire (Ref). On hit target takes 5 ongoing fire damge (se)
T1 v Rusty - 1d20+16=20. Miss.
T2 v Guldarin - 1d20+16=17. Miss.
T3 v Rusty - 1d20+16=21. Miss.

Siezed by Greed recharge

Fires of the Golden Hell (Fort). Burst 5. On hit target takes ongoing fire damage for every magical item carried (se)
Targets Nayce, Guldarin, Amenephus, Dorvin, CS, Rusty, D2

3d8=20 fire
20fire damage to Amenephus and Rusty
15 fire damage to Dorvin
10 fire damage to D2

The churning shard of Mount Rygar shifts and swings at Rusty, its fists crashing into the ground far from the lucky warrior's feet.

Rolled a 3.

"You know, there are some tricks you can use too often." Guldarin bends over to pick his rod and hammer up. Again. "And then there are the things you're really good at and like doing." Ozone gathers as a storm bursts again over the room.

Minor: to pick up items
Standard: Tide of the First Storm, K16 area burst 2, targets all enemies in burst

Guldarin displays mild annoyance as unlikely thunder clouds roll in, dousing Mammon's Will with a sheet of rain. The Corrupted Shard and D2 are quicker to spot the impending danger and dodge.
