Rusty sizes up the chain-wielding devil, "I don't think he has two brains, as he would have long opened that door by now."


Guldarin generates a minor storm to slow the devil down and gets and answer to his question as Ghrysigor bellows "When the moon is full, we grow an extra brain!"

Meanwhile Amenephus notes with some concern that the golden toad statues appear to be alive, their eyes noting the movement of the companions with quiet greed.

The issue of his brains settled for now, Ghrysigor steps foward and whirls his golden chains into Rusty, Dorvin and Nayce.

"Well, all this grabbing and pawing at people. Not on. And frogs. Can't stand frogs. Except marinaded in butter, but I don't think these two are really suitable. Stomach ache, for sure." Guldarin chatters on, while aiming his rod and bringing down the storm on his foes. The smell of ozone fills the suddenly-chill air.

Will hold on updating the map and Ghrysigor until Dorvers tells me where he wants to go.

Guldarin's wave of chatter is almost as effective as his favoured ozone as a toad deterrent. Both amphibians find their prey forcibly pulled away from them and croak irritably.

Flailing chains recharge: 1d6=4. No.

Dripping with Toad saliva, Rusty and Dorvin emerge from the clamping jaws and prepare to gang up on Ghrysigor. Unable to hit both of them, the devil wallops Dorvin with his golden chains. As he does so, the residual effects of Nayce's attack kick in and one of his earlier wounds reopens.

Excellent... just checking. Warlord's Recovery on Guldarin. As a free action, Guldarin regains Tide of the First Storm and attacks with it now. Rusty - Ideally, it would be great if Guldarin can slide us to flank Gutsygor. I will spend an AP to do some more funky stuff.

Ably abetted by his friends, Rusty makes no mistake and drives a mightly blow into the devil.

Ghrysigor turn to himself and yelps unhappily before attempting once more to smite someone. Rusty is his preferred target on this occasion.

Battle Awareness feat - I make an immediate interrupt melee basic against Grysy as he didn't include me in an attack and I'm adjacent to him. 1d20+17 = 35 vs AC; 1d10+15 = 23 damage.

"Dinnae fergit aboot me, haggis!" Dorvin growls as he slashes at the devil's ankles.


Disconcerted by the incomprehensible burble from around his knees, Ghrysigor can do nothing to prevent Dorvin's attack and finds himself bloodied as a result.

Minor: Slayer's Endurance - The first time an enemy takes damage from your assassin’s shroud before the end of your next turn, you gain 5 temporary hit points for each shroud on that enemy.

Blade From the Mist. As part of the standard action, I can shift to I11. Invoking 4 shrouds with this attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33 vs AC. 2d8 + 15 ⇒ (6, 2) + 15 = 23 damage plus 4d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 1) + 12 = 30 shroud damage plus 2d8 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9 poison.

I gain 20 temp HP.

Assassins are quirky. They get by on modest damage for the most part, but every once in a while they can sort of go "nova". My last turn, for instance, was largely spent setting this up.


With a single deft leap, Nayce appears out of nowhere and all but decapitates one of Ghrysigor's heads.

You could help your master, and I... wouldn't have to keep backing away. What do you think, eh, would that work?" As if to make the point, smoking sulphorous chains burst from the floor and attack the toad's master.

T2 lets out a frustrated croak as lunch is once more postponed and Rusty slides drippily out of its jaws.

It glares balefully at Guldarin, attempting to turn the incoming damage against the dragonborn, an exacts some vengeance as Rusty suffers in its place.

A sweet power I forgot from last turn. When they're hit with a ranged or area attack, the toads can attack v will (on the restrained target) and on a hit redirect the damage at the restrained target. It's an immediate interrupt.

Maleficent Misdirection (Will). On hit Rusty takes the damage from Guldarin's attack.
1d20+14=32.
Rusty takes 20 damage meant for T2. T2 takes 0 damage but is slowed to end Guldarin's next turn.

Imminent death seems to have helped Ghysigor's concentration as he finally remembers how to wield his chains and he swings in a wide arc at Dorvin and Rusty, seeking to sweep them off their feet and away from him.

Dorvin goes sprawling, but the spittle-coated dragonborn has recently seen much worse things inside the toad's gullet than a mere weapon, and stands firm.
